Seeing all these fusion Indian weddings coming out of Mexico as of late has me yearning for a vacation! From the looks of it, Maharani Hema had a destination union that is brimming with ideas, fun and family - the perfect combination! With the vibrance of the beach and the luxurious feel of the Moon Palace Cancun where all the festivities took place, I am dreaming of a beach inspired celebration. Hema’s wedding was devoted to maintaining contemporary elements intermingled with the Gujarati traditional values. The commemorations started off with colorful garba night and from the looks of it, it was uber! Hema’s custom made tangerine and hot pink chaniya choli was gorgeous. I love how the vibrant colors set against the dark clouds of the skies overlooking the beach just sparkled in the images caught by DreamArt Photography. The day before the wedding, both the bride and groom returned to the auspicious venue for the Pithi. The turmeric powder just added to this bride’s glow; she looks stunning in every image! One of the daunting tasks of Indian destination weddings is finding the perfect mehndi artist. Veronica de la Paz once again shined through armed with portable henna workshop perfect bridal mehndi on yet another bride. Bridal and Event Lounge handed this Maharani a cocktail as they took care of all the planning and design details. A lot more wedding fun is to be had, so head into the gallery for a sneak peek of what is to come!
Maharani Weddings caught up with the bride for details on planning her destination wedding!
What did you enjoy most about the process of planning your dream Indian wedding?
We loved keeping all of the traditional elements of a Gujarati wedding, but with a modern twist at each event.
How did you choose your lengha or lenghas? Did you work with a certain designer? Did you spend hours on the internet first?
I custom designed my outfits and Samir's outfits with Vama designs in San Jose, CA. She was personable, wonderful to work with, and each one had a unique touch.
Looking back, was there a really special moment that you remember from your wedding that stands out as the most magical?
Weddings are a lot of work, time consuming and overwhelming. Even though we had such an extravagant wedding, the best moments were those in which amongst all the chaos, I looked at Samir and had the joy of knowing we are going to be together forever. In those simple moments, there was nobody else in the room, just the two of us, starting our journey together.
How about hair and makeup? Did you already have a style in mind or did you work with a specialist to find your perfect look?
I had a last minute cancelation with hair and makeup. This could have been a disaster, especially for a destination wedding. Thankfully, Nida Gazi came to the rescue. I put full faith in her artistry, and she did a phenomenal job!
Did family or friends help out with certain special details that really added to the event?
Our wedding planner, Atrina from BEL is a wedding angel! She made the wedding everything that it was. Samir and I are both exceptionally busy, and she made planning a destination wedding a fun and enjoyable experience.
Ever wonder how a destination wedding comes together? We have the exclusive details as well as the vendors who make it all happen! Make sure you return with us for the Indian wedding and reception!
