Melville, NY Indian Wedding by Nayeem Vohra Photography

When Shilpa met Maneesh online, little did she know that it would lead to a journey filled with laughter, endless conversations, and shared meals. Their love blossomed over a mutual appreciation for all things food-related—a love language they both spoke fluently. Maneesh proposed in a style reminiscent of The Bachelor, complete with a rooftop rose ceremony and a Jesse Palmer video. The romance meter was definitely maxed out!

Planning their wedding was no small feat, but with a dream team of vendors and many Google Docs, Shilpa & Maneesh crafted an unforgettable celebration at the Hilton Long Island Huntington. From the first walkthrough, their wedding planners from Detailed Affairs Team, coordinated seamlessly, ensuring every detail was executed flawlessly. Their dedication shone brightest on the big day when they flawlessly juggled the timing, coordination, and all the last-minute surprises (because, let's face it, no wedding day is complete without a few!).

Shilpa envisioned a blend of traditional and modern elements for the decor, creating a timeless yet vibrant ambiance. Florista Decor transformed this vision into reality, working its magic with a color palette that complemented Shilpa's stunning outfits. Think lush floral arrangements in shades of red and gold, intricate mandap design, and an elegant reception setup that keeps things classy yet full of personality. Now, let's talk about the bride's show-stopping outfit. Shilpa always dreamed of wearing a bright red lengha, and she found "the one" at the first shop she visited in India with her mom. Crafted by Sanjeela Fashions Delhi, this outfit was a masterpiece with its intricate detailing and vibrant hue. Meanwhile, Maneesh complemented her effortlessly in an elegant ensemble by Silver Tulip Couture, bringing a regal charm to every moment.

From the tear-jerking first look to the joyous dance floor shots, every frame from Nayeem Vohra Photography told a story. Nayeem has a remarkable talent for blending artistry with authenticity, capturing the grand gestures and the quiet, tender moments—the quick smile between Shilpa & Maneesh, the stolen glances, and the unspoken emotions that passed between them.

In Shilpa's own words, the secret to a smooth planning process was staying organized, using many checklists, and having a great team of vendors.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met online, and after texting back and forth, we met for our first date in Brooklyn, where I lived at the time! We went out for dinner and the conversation flowed naturally as we realized how much we had in common. I knew he was the one who had a similar personality, how he always made me laugh at silly jokes, and especially because we bonded over our common love language of sharing food!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
One of my favorite shows has always been The Bachelor/Bachelorette. Knowing this, he recreated a Bachelorette finale and proposed with a traditional Bachelor proposal! We were on our way to what I thought was his work holiday party, with plans to meet some friends at The Fleur Room in NYC beforehand. As we stepped into the empty rooftop, I assumed we were the first ones there until he played a video from Jesse Palmer welcoming me to my final rose ceremony and proposal! After I said yes, he surprised me with our parents, family, and friends coming to The Fleur Room to celebrate the night with us.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We planned our wedding in about 8-9 months, and planning involved lots of checklists, Google Docs, and phone/video calls! We did a lot of research to pick our vendors, but once we did, everything fell into place really quickly. We were looking to have a traditional Indian wedding with modern and fun twists, and all of our vendors really helped us achieve this. For our decor and color scheme, the first thing we picked was the colors of my bridal, reception, and bridesmaids outfits, and then the rest of the decor complemented those colors. Working with our decorator was amazing, she was so creative and really helped to bring our vision to life. We didn't have a specific theme in mind besides the colors and wanted to keep our reception elegant and classy, and with our decorator's help, we designed the perfect aesthetic. Our wedding planners were great, and they were really essential for the coordination of all the vendors for the day of the event. One of the best things we did during the planning process was a walk-through at the venue about one month before the wedding with the wedding planner, decorator, and venue. This really helped us feel at ease that everyone was on the same page for the timing and flow of events of the big day!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I always knew I wanted to wear bright red for my bridal lengha but never really had a design in mind. I went shopping in India with my mom and found my bridal lengha at the first shop we went to! I only tried on 5-6 outfits and instantly knew this was the one when I saw it! I loved the bright color and detailed work and knew it would stand out amongst the color scheme of the ceremony.

Every moment was captured with artistry and heart, leaving memories that will be cherished forever.

Santorini, GR Indian Wedding by Hanna Monika Photography

Under the golden hues of a Santorini sunset, where the Aegean Sea whispers tales of eternal love, Devisha & James embarked on their "happily ever after." Their wedding at the breathtaking Santorini Gem was nothing short of cinematic brilliance, blending Devisha's Indian heritage with the charm of Greek elegance. Crystal chandeliers glistening against a mirrored mandap adorned with vibrant blooms by Red Box Days, a stunning backdrop that could give Hollywood movie sets a run for their money.

With the expert touch of DW Events, the mandap shimmered with mirrored panels and lush, cascading floral arrangements, creating a perfect harmony of tradition and modern elegance. The ceremony was steeped in meaningful rituals and heartfelt moments, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Aegean Sea. Guests, dressed in vibrant attire, brought bursts of color to the serene Greek landscape—a vibrant contrast as striking as Devisha's intricate mehndi, which beautifully told the story of their love.

As the dulcet tones of traditional Indian music filled the air, Devisha, draped in an exquisite creation by Peony and Lotus, made her grand entrance. Her ivory and gold bridal ensemble, paired with Serena Worldwide's artistry in hair and makeup, was nothing less than regal. James, equally dapper in his ivory sherwani, stood waiting, a mix of nerves and joy dancing in his eyes.

It was as if the world faded away, leaving only the two of them in that magical moment. Hanna Monika Photography skillfully captured the intensity of their gazes, the quiet joy on James' face, and the soft smile that lit up Devisha's as she inched closer to her future. The sunlight sparkled off the mirrored mandap, casting dreamy reflections around them as if the universe was celebrating their love. Each frame was a masterpiece, brimming with raw emotion that gives you goosebumps and leaves you believing in the power of love at first sight.

As the night unfurled, DJ Deebee brought the beats, ensuring no one left the dance floor unshaken. The pièce de résistance? A jaw-dropping fireworks display by Skylight Fireworks painted the Santorini night sky with bursts of color, perfectly matching the couple's electric chemistry.

Creative Mocktail Ideas to Wow Guests at Your South Asian Wedding

Today's weddings are embracing inclusivity and creativity by expanding non-alcoholic options, ensuring every guest has an exceptional experience. Rather than hosting a completely dry event, couples are choosing to elevate their weddings with refreshing, alcohol-free alternatives that add flair and sophistication. For those looking to make their wedding feel more inclusive and thoughtful, here are some inspiring ways to bring non-alcoholic options into the celebration without sacrificing style or enjoyment.

Why Offer Non-Alcoholic Choices?

Non-alcoholic options at weddings cater to a variety of guests, from those who don’t drink to those who want a break from alcohol during a long night. Providing these options shows thoughtfulness and can enhance everyone’s experience. Plus, with the rise of creative mocktails and artisan drinks, non-alcoholic choices have become a trend that’s both fun and chic.

Creative Ways to Incorporate Non-Alcoholic Options

  1. Curated Mocktail Menus: Elevate your bar offerings with a selection of signature mocktails that are as visually stunning as they are delicious. Think about mocktails that reflect your personality as a couple, or incorporate flavors from places you love. Hire a skilled mixologist to design these drinks, incorporating fresh herbs, exotic fruit juices, and unique garnishes.

  2. Interactive Beverage Stations: Offer sparkling water, fruit syrups, fresh herbs, and seasonal fruit garnishes so guests can mix their own unique drinks. This hands-on approach can serve as a fun icebreaker and a perfect addition to cocktail hour, allowing guests to craft a drink tailored to their tastes.

  3. Refreshment Carts or Beverage Bars: From artisanal coffee carts to fresh juice bars, having specialized drink stations throughout the venue keeps guests hydrated and delighted. A mocktail cart or tea bar with exotic flavors can be an exciting addition, while a cold-pressed juice bar can offer a refreshing, health-conscious twist.

  4. Non-Alcoholic Toasting Options: Instead of the usual champagne, consider a unique twist for the toast, like sparkling fruit cider, artisanal sodas, or a specialty mocktail.

  5. Decadent Dessert and Beverage Pairings: Highlight the culinary experience by pairing desserts with specialty non-alcoholic beverages. Imagine gourmet coffee paired with rich chocolate truffles, or mini cake bites served alongside elderflower or hibiscus mocktails. Event Espresso Catering elevates any occasion with a refined selection of handcrafted coffee drinks, perfectly paired with indulgent desserts, creating a truly unforgettable culinary experience.

  6. Creative and Inviting Décor: A vibrant atmosphere can help shift the focus from alcohol to celebration. Use decor to create a warm and festive environment, with lively table settings, lush florals, and ambient lighting that keeps guests engaged.

  7. Entertaining Extras - Games, Music, and Performances: High-quality entertainment can make non-alcoholic options more appealing by engaging guests in activities. Include live music, a dance floor with a DJ, or even a henna station for a cultural twist.

How to Let Guests Know About the Non-Alcoholic Options

Communication is key to preparing guests for a wedding with enhanced non-alcoholic choices. Share the news on your wedding website, invitation, or welcome sign to help set expectations. You can make it exciting by highlighting some of the unique drinks or stations that will be offered, such as a “mocktail mixology bar” or a “gourmet coffee station,” so guests know there will be plenty of unique beverages to enjoy.

Benefits of Offering a Wide Range of Non-Alcoholic Options

Offering a wide range of non-alcoholic options at your wedding is more than just a trend—it’s an inclusive way to ensure that all guests feel welcome and can fully enjoy the celebration. Whether for health reasons, cultural practices, or personal preferences, providing these alternatives allows everyone to partake in the fun without feeling left out. Non-alcoholic choices also help foster a safer, more family-friendly environment, while potentially reducing costs. With a little creativity, these drinks can become a memorable feature of your wedding, enhancing the atmosphere and reflecting the love, joy, and connection of the day.
