Engaged June 3, 2010

We are thrilled to announce the engagement of Miss. Sejal Udani to Dr. Maneesh Penkar. Maneesh asked Sejal to be his Mrs. in Mexico a few short weeks ago, and the pair will spend their engagement in the Carolinas. Maneesh, a resident at the University of South Carolina, and Sejal, an MBA candidate at Duke University, are planning on saying I do Memorial Day weekend of 2012, near the bride’s hometown in Southern California.

From Sejal : In a lone gazebo overlooking the Caribbean Sea, Maneesh planned a fabulously romantic dinner for two during our weeklong getaway in the Riviera Maya. Draped in white chiffon, adorned with beautiful pink roses, and dimly lit with candles, we enjoyed each other’s company under the stars. After indulging in champagne and strawberries, he escorted me to the edge of the gazebo, where we reminisced about the first night we met in Chapel Hill, NC. The next thing I knew, he was down on one knee, asking to spend the rest of our lives together!

Married May 8, 2010

Tina Doshi and Akshay Verma said their I dos on a sunny afternoon in Marina Del Rey, California. The groom entered in a stylish 1970's convertible Mercedes coupe flanked by family and friends celebrating the occasion. A traditional girl at heart, Tina, wore the customary red and white Gujurati wedding sari for her outdoor ceremony. As with any traditional Hindu ceremony, there was much teasing, laughter, and a few tears before the couple was announced as the new Mr. & Mrs. In celebration of their marriage the bride and groom danced the night away while munching on fabulous food from Dehli Palace, and sweets from Ocho Rios. Tina and Akshay choose to start their life as husband and wife, by putting the spotlight on one of their favorite charities, Project Night Night. Instead of giving each guest a gift, the bride and groom decided to place a child's workbook on each seat and have each guest write a note to a child of need. Congratulations to Tina and Akshay – beautiful inside and out!

Married May 8, 2010

Sejal Kapadia and Sarthak Shah were married in beautiful Southern California at the Hilton Hotel, in Long Beach. Although they were both born and raised in the U.S. they both have strong cultural and religious ties, so they maintained many of the traditional aspects of a Hindi Gujurati wedding, while incorporating contemporary touches in the décor. The baraat procession began in the morning as the groom entered on a white horse and was led to a beautiful fountain in the hotel’s outdoor plaza, which set the backdrop for the mandap. Guests were treated to a cooling falooda snack during the ceremony, followed by lunch. The reception began with social hour in the evening, and the evening was full of dancing, from the couple’s grand entrance, to a solo performance dedicated to Sarthak by the bride herself, and a full dance floor as guests partied the night away. The bride and groom celebrated their new title of Mr. & Mrs by jetting off to Tahiti for their honeymoon. Congratulations Sejal & Sarthak!
