A lot of Indian brides want to blend the western traditions with Indian traditions.  Here are some of my favorite ideas for incorporating western traditions...

Something old…
For your something old, place the piece in your hair.  It can be a special clip from your childhood, signature piece of jewelry that represents you, or your sorority pin!  Just have a handy bridesmaid or your hairstylist sew the jewelry in your hair, and you will look dazzling!

Something new…
I am sure there are plenty of new things that you are wearing on your big day, but if you need an excuse to buy “something new” here are some fresh ideas…bindis, anklets or a single toe ring all make great new items that you can use for years to come!

Something borrowed…
Out of all four traditions, this one is my favorite, because it can be very sentimental.  I love when brides wear old jewelry.  The glimmer of 22k gold is unmistakable, so incorporate a bangle from each of your grandmothers into your wedding day set. Don’t worry if it doesn’t match exactly, it will be more special if it sticks out.  This is a lovely way to pay respect to each of them, and have their blessings with you as you take your next step in life.

Something blue…
Hiding something blue on a bridal lengha can be tough, so a lot of ladies choose to wear blue underclothes.  However, I really love this idea that I got from one of our readers.  Simply take rhinestones and a hot glue gun and on the underside of your wedding shoes write “I” on the right shoe and “Do” on the left.  It will be darling!

Shoe copy

Here is a piece of trivia for all you brides out there…the saying is actually completed with a line “and a six pence in her shoe!”
