I absolutely love when an Indian bride chooses a traditional style for her ceremony, and then morphs into a modern Maharani for the reception. Inspired by Jodhaa Akbar, this bold reception was vibrant and filled with energy. Captured by Radhika Photography, this New Jersey Indian wedding is a perfect example of infusing the personalities of the bride & groom into every little last detail.
DIY project: I am not a fan of everyone hovering over a table looking for their name cards and where they are going to sit. So instead, I created a name chart. My husband designed a monogram for us using Ganeshji and our names. My Aunt and Cousin from india and my mom's best friend helped put a sari border on the charts and they looked so amazing!!
Our wedding invitations were very unique. The invitations were a designer wood pieces by Zoya Couture. My husband and I designed the wood piece with Arti {owner of Zoya Couture} picking the beautiful engraving of the bride.
The reception was a Jodhaa Akbar theme with a blue and red color scheme. It was very regal looking. I didn't have money for nor didn't want large flower centerpieces, so we came up with an elephant centerpiece. It was small but because the overlays were so ornate, it matched perfectly (and people could see and talk across the table).
My husband turned 30 on July 15, 2010. Our wedding was July 3, 2010. Due to the finances and time devoted to the wedding, I could not throw a huge bash for his 30th. He's always wanted a Porsche. So I got a cake designed in the shape of a Porsche for him to celebrate his birthday with our families and friends. The whole crowd singing happy birthday was beautiful and I think he was genuinely surprised!
Congratulations to the ADORABLE couple and big thanks to Radhika Photography for this submission!
