Mehndi Maharani 2013 Finalist: Junoon Designs

All the way from Barbados, mehndi artist Faheema Patel of Junoon Designs is showing us her exquisite henna style and, wow, are we impressed! Being a mehndi artist allows her to connect with people, Patel says, "I love the smell of mehndi, that earthy scent which reminds me so much of nature. I love that it is a Sunnah in Islam, and it is worn by women as a sign of beauty as well as a decorative art to celebrate on special occasions. It symbolizes my culture and I just think that it's so amazing how a plant could create this temporary stain which allows me to create any work of art."
