I absolutely adore blue orchids, so when I caught a glimpse of this floral fantasy, my heart skipped a beat! Rani's Mandap has created a totally gorgeous ceremony scene with enormous bouquets, a shimmering mandap, and a bright red aisle dotted with blue flower petals. Love it! It is too perfect how Maharani Shalini's multi-colored lengha coordiantes to the spectacular decor; she is truly stunning and so is her oh-so-complementary Raja Shyam! HDEV Photography is on hand to ensure every detail is on film and until we can spend the afternoon poring through their presh photo album, I'll be browsing the gallery!
From the bride: "Shyam and I talked initially about what we both wanted. We knew our wedding would have atleast 500-600 guests as we both came from large families. Shyam mentioned he would like to incorporate the colour turquoise and was considering that color for his groom outfit. His reason being that his dad wore blue at his wedding so Shyam wanted to wear the same color. I had always liked turqouise color so we both agreed and that was how our color theme originated. I wanted the decor to be traditional yet different. Most indian weddings dominantly use red and gold so I decided to not use those colors and only incorporated them slightly.
My main flowers were the blue orchids, which we had imported from Thailand by my uncle. Most of the decorations, i.e. favor boxes, weddding card boxes (inspired by a blog on Maharani Website) were made by me. We even folded the napkins and did as much at home as we could. I felt that by doing things personally, it added a personal touch.
I also decorated my own wedding cake and made the fondant roses with the help of my cousin. Two days before the wedding, we decorated the cake and needless to say, it turned out great.
The most magical moment was seeing Shyam on the mandap when i walked up the aisle. I was nervous yet so excited to be finally marrying him. It seemed unreal that it was finally happening."
What an illustrious international affair! Come right back for a lovely portrait sesh!
