From the bride, on the proposal story:

"Duncan and I have a hard time finding the time to go away on vacation together and just get away from it all. We had been talking about how long and miserable the past winter was and how finally it was getting warm enough to go somewhere hot and soak up some sun and waves. So when my mom told me that my grandparents were going to be visiting from India in May, I thought it would be fun to road trip to Florida for an extended Memorial weekend beach trip and visit the family while we were at it.

I had no idea that Duncan already had a ring with him when we embarked on our trip. We spent 2 days with the family interspersed with day trips to the local beaches. On Sunday, May 26, we made our way to Siesta Key, where we met up with my cousin and his girlfriend. It was starting to look like the 4 of us were going to be hanging out and partying all night together, killing any hope of alone time, until my cousin got called away to work. Alone at last!

The sun was going down, the drum circle was getting louder and louder, and with each passing minute, my then boyfriend was becoming more visibly nervous. It was on a beach trip to Miami the previous year that he told me he loved me for the first time, so I could only imagine if he had something planned for this trip, which would explain his peculiar behavior.

Before I could even let my mind wander, he took me by the hands, looked me in the eyes, and said the most beautiful things I’ve ever heard. With tears in his eyes, he dropped down to one knee, and there in front of everyone watching us, asked me if I would marry him. We embraced to the sound of applause all around us and for the first time in my life, I felt complete. It was perfect!"

Get ready for the first of two ceremonies coming up next!
