From the bride, on how they met:

"Nitesh and I were "fortunate' victims of matchmaking by my uncle and his cousin. They thought that since we were both in medical school, we would be perfect for each other. Because that is how it normally works (insert sarcasm here). Well, joke was definitely on us. We first started getting to know each other through emails. Emails turned to texting, which turned in to our first conversation. That went a little bit like this. Nitesh called my cell phone, and asked for me. I replied “who else would it be?” Luckily, he liked my sense of humor and this first conversation was not the last. Finally, it was time to meet! The night before I traveled from Missouri to Florida to meet my future hubby, my fortune cookie said “Traveling to the south will bring you unexpected happiness." On our first date, Nitesh took me to the Disney boardwalk in Orlando, followed by dinner at an Italian restaurant and a cirque du soleil show. And the rest is history!"

On the proposal:

"Nitesh and I had been dating for three years. I knew that he was the man I was meant to marry, but tried not to think about how he might propose too much, especially because I always ruin surprises. We were in California for his sister's wedding weekend. Her sangeet was on a yacht that went around Newport Harbor. I thought it would be a nice surprise for Nitesh to perform a dance at his sister's wedding, so we prepared a dance performance for the bride and groom. We love old Hindi songs, so did a little medley for them. The final dance was Dafliwale, and right in the middle of the song, the music just stopped. I turn around to see what's going on, expecting there was an issue with our music file. Instead, I see Nitesh on his knee with the most beautiful ring. He proposed in front of our families and friends, and we have an amazing video to relive it over and over again."

On the lengha:

"Before I went shopping in India, I didn't really have an idea of what I wanted for the wedding outfit. All I knew is that I wanted to stay with the traditional red, with gold. I actually found the wedding shoes before I found the wedding lengha, they were red and sparkly! We only had a week in India to find the perfect wedding lengha...such a daunting task! So on our first day of shopping, we walked into the first store, and there it was! Red, gold, and sparkly! I tried it on, and fell in love. Tears in my mom and masi's eyes just sealed the deal!"

Pre-wedding portraits and pics from the ceremony are up next!
