We've reached the end of another week, but that doesn't mean the fabulousness is over. We're kicking off this Filmy Friday with a breathtaking and artistic wedding film shot and edited by the talented folks at White Rose Production. This South Asian wedding event is set in the gorgeous California desert, against a captivating landscape and sky. The incredible affair was planned by Kismet Event Design, who also took charge of the event's floral and decor details. The blushing bride, Zehra, was expertly beautified beyond Maharani dreams by hair and makeup artist Nida Gazi of Beauty By NG. She also rocks a few sensational outfits, including a flowy, white and gold dress, and a reception lengha that is sure to inspire your inner fashionista. The JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa hosted this unforgettable celebration, and you won't want to wait a second longer to check it all out!
The bride, on her Raja's romantic proposal:
"The proposal was AMAZING! He took me to dinner at The Montage in Laguna Beach. After dinner, we decided to go for a walk and check out the lobby of this resort. It was the most beautiful resort I had ever seen. We got to the lobby and sat down to have a drink. As we were talking and enjoying the view, the pianist started singing Marry You by Bruno Mars, which was our song at the time. He got up and took me to the balcony right in front of us that was lit with candles and got down on one knee. It was so romantic and the entire hotel staff was there to make it even more special.
The best part of our engagement was the fact that we didn't tell any of our friends until a couple days later because we wanted to tell them all at once. We came up with a plan to invite them all out to a restaurant and say that it was a surprise birthday dinner for me. Once they were all there, we entered and they screamed "surprise!" and I acted shocked. A few minutes later, we told them the real reason they were there and got to see the look on their faces! It was the most beautiful moment for us."
On her wedding style:
"Since we have so many weddings in our community, we wanted to make sure to do something that was different and would 'wow' our guests. We were taking our guests out of LA to Palm Springs so we wanted to incorporate the desert feel into the decor. We picked Kismet Events based on their portfolio and their ability to do different things. We left it up to them to decide the colors, centerpieces, etc. However, we did tell them that we wanted a color block dance floor and we wanted our sang and our reception night to be completely different from one another decor wise."
On selecting her dream wedding lenghas:
"I met Umar Sayeed in LA through a family friend and let him take care of the lengha. I trusted him completely with it. My clothes didn't come in until 2 weeks prior to the wedding but I had no doubt that they were going to be gorgeous. I let him and my family friend pick the colors and I had no problem letting him give me the style he preferred. However, I did spend hours looking at his clothes online and fell in love with every outfit he made."
On her hair and makeup:
"I worked with Nida Gazi for my hair and make up for all 3 days. She was pregnant at the time and I was so afraid that she was going to deliver her baby during my wedding. Funny enough, she delivered her baby the day after my reception! She and her team came out to Palm Springs and her team did hair and make up for our guests. We had a room downstairs where they could all go during the day and it was somewhat like a salon. Nida did such a good job with my hair and make up and it got better and better as the days went on. I trusted her completely and didn't need to tell her what to do or what not to do. She was fabulous."
On her most memorable wedding day moment:
"I have to say that the most magical moment was entering the reception hall. We were expecting 200 people for our sangeet and 225 for our reception because Palm Springs is a bit far for most people. We were thrilled to have 320 people for our sangeet and 350 for our reception! When we walked in to our reception hall, there was so much love and joy in the room that it completely overwhelmed us and I started to cry. There is no better feeling than walking into to room filled with the people you love the most and looking around to see how gorgeous everything looks. It was just fantastic."
On the role family and friends played:
"We did a skit for our guests and incorporated dances in between each scene. Our friends did such a great job and put together the most amazing dances for us. Sunil had a little surprise for me at the end of the skit in which he incorporated a song that my friend sang for us. Her voice is beautiful and she really made that night special for me."
Sit tight! I'll be back with another splendid highlight reel before you can say lengha choli!
