In true Cinderella fashion, a lovely horse and carriage—courtesy of Honolulu Horse & Carriage, will escort our Maharani in honor of her grand Destination South Indian wedding in Hawaii. Danny K Photography captures all the magnificent scenery of the stunning outdoor ceremony at the palatial Lagoon Lawn in the JW Marriott Ihilani Resort & Spa at Ko Olina. Tall palm trees, vast waters and luscious greenery surround the romantic mandap—which is infused with beautiful red and white roses, courtesy of Steven Boyle Design. Prenya is all aglow as she takes her proverbial walk down the aisle. I love the shot of Sameer stopping to take in the beauty of his gorgeous bride. How very sweet! Mira Savara Events really gives our lovebirds a fairy tale dream wedding come true as they ride off to their happily ever after! See more of this captivating ceremony in the gallery!
From the bride, on the wedding style:
"We were fortunate to have our wedding in one of the most beautiful places imaginable-Hawaii! We planned many of our events outdoors because the scenery in Hawaii is breathtaking. While we wanted to have all of the traditional Indian wedding styling and décor, we also wanted to showcase the natural beauty of the island. Our aim was to ultimately create the perfect balance between both worlds. The wedding ceremony was also held completely outdoors. For this, we envisioned a dramatic setting. The mandap was a bright, bold red against the blue ocean and sky backdrop. We accented the Mandap with a blend of red, yellow, ivory and peach flowers to add color and dimension."
On the lenghas:
"For our wedding ceremony, I wanted to keep it more traditional. I am South Indian (Tamil) and Sameer is North Indian (Punjabi) so we had to decide how to incorporate both cultures. I chose to wear a traditional Kanchipuram silk saree for the wedding and a Lengha for the reception, thus tying in both cultures. In Chennai, I came across this stunning red saree that was intricately woven with gold silk threads to create a beautiful design. You could find a whole array of nature: peacocks, elephants, swans, and flowers. Aside from new jewelry, I was fortunate to have been able to wear my Mother's wedding waist belt (known as "Oodiyanam"), which made it all the more special for me! For the reception, since we had a Spring wedding in Hawaii, I wanted a soft, light colored lengha. In Delhi, I fell in love with a beautiful peach lengha at designer's Anjalee & Arjun's Kapoor's boutique. They worked with me to create the perfect piece, even adding some personal touches to make it unique to me!"
