From the bride, on the wedding style:
"I'm often asked about the level of detail I had with my wedding and it really came naturally. I had daydreamed about getting married for so long, the running joke was that I just needed a groom. I wanted something clean, classic and romantic. The theme to our sangeet was a tale of two cities - Chicago & New York which we had at The Liberty House in Jersey City. We had quirky signs next to pizza, pasta and cheesecake which are three foods Chicagoans and New Yorkers constantly battle over to be the best. We even had cute little napkins with each city's map to pair with Goose Island 312 & Brooklyn Lager. The evening was intimate and filled with live singers, dancing, mehndhi, a cozy fire with s'mores and the best view. The wedding was inspired by our legacy. We followed certain traditions while reflecting our own styles. Outside of the ceremony, we setup wedding photos of those that came before us. Our grandparents, parents and older sisters. After I finished walking down the aisle, my mother sang the same song her own mother had sang as she entered her own mandap."
On her favorite part of planning:
"Shopping! This may sound crazy - but I was literally done my shopping in India in 3 days. There were so many bonding moments! My sister, Avani, wasn't able to come so we devised a plan and my amazing cousin, Maggie, in India worked tirelessly to help me find my perfect outfits. After the big stuff was done, my parents, cousin and I were so relaxed. It was so cool to go through the "rush" in the same place and house my own mother had gone through it. It was challenging but interesting to plan the wedding from Chicago while it was in New Jersey, but doing so allowed me to get to know Vimal's family better. New Jersey was just a quick flight away so I'd jump on as many planes as I could and my parents would be eagerly awaiting & ready to plan!"
An outdoor photo session is coming up!
