From the bride, on the wedding style:

"We wanted our wedding to feel like the perfect balance between our personalities. On the one hand, it was so important to both of us to honor tradition and show respect for our parents and families. On the other hand, we also wanted a modern and fun feel. To achieve that balance, we sat down with both sets of parents and asked them what things were important to them. We made an effort to include those elements. Then we did some research about the meaning of different Hindu rituals and which ones were important to us. We wanted the ceremony to be outdoor and we lucked out big time with the weather. Considering it was February, the fact that we had a perfectly comfortable 78 degree outdoor wedding was such a blessing! When it came to the colors, I wanted the colors to be creme and gold with pops of rich purples. For our Valentine's Day wedding I wanted an elegant and romantic feel without being to cheesy. For the reception, we had a live band who played a combo of Indian songs and classic American wedding songs. For us, that helped to solidify the balance we were going for."

On the venue:

"Venue-- Hayes Mansion in San Jose. So we had a list of about ten venues we wanted to check out. Randomly, Hayes was first on the list. We went there and had plans to check out the other venues in the following days. Once we saw Hayes, we had no reason to check out anywhere else! It had the perfect outdoor space for the ceremony. The best part is all the guests had the option of staying at the hotel! It was so nice that family and friends could stay there and enjoy fully."

The reception celebration is still ahead!
