First we dive into her Sangeet at the Hyatt Regency Chespeake Bay with charming décor by Design House Décor. We absolutely love the creative use of the umbrellas to decorate the stage. Sarah Rillon was on hand to make sure our Maharani’s hair and make up were flawless and Ace of Events planned this wedding to perfection. How did you meet your Raja and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met at a Bhangra competition. We started off as friends, I lived in Northern Virginia and he lived in New York City. Due to the distance our friendship was entirely based off communication. From there, our relationship kept growing stronger, after a couple months we realized there was a stronger meaning to a relationship besides just being good friends. And from there, we started to grow stronger together than we ever were individually.
Do you have a super romantic proposal story or engagement memory?
It was the perfect surprise. Jaspreet knows how much family means to me, so he definitely took that into consideration when asking for my hand in marriage. He made sure our loved ones, friends and family, were all there to celebrate that beautiful. He proposed to me where he took me on our first date, DUMBO, Brooklyn, NY.
Tell us about your wedding style. When you sat down to really figure out how your dream wedding would look, did you start with one central color, a palette of colors, or a theme that served as your inspiration?
We wanted a traditional, modern, formal, family orientated, destination wedding. Jimmy always wanted a wedding close to where he grew up, and I always wanted a destination wedding in Caribbean. After searching countless hours for the perfect venue, we came across Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay, a beautiful resort that overlooks the Chesapeake River. Which was also perfectly located between Richmond, VA (my hometown) and Queens, NY (Jaspreet's hometown). We called it our perfect compromise.
