After a welcome party that ended in fireworks, Rita and Samir knew they had to pull out all the stops to have an impressive reception. With the help of Mango Weddings and Events and Floreria Jardin the ballroom of the Hyatt Zilara Cancun was transformed into a modern celebration of romance. Hundreds of red roses were bunched together in candelabras while a custom white dance floor, by JWD Events, anchored the room. A gold wedding cake added to the luxe feel of the event but my favorite tidbit of this destination wedding was their heart warming proposal story. Do you have a super romantic proposal story or engagement memory?
Samir planned a surprise trip for me. The day before we were leaving was Saturday and since we were all packed up, he asked if I wanted to redo our first date (it's something we had been wanting to do for so long but never seemed to find the right time). I agreed and we made our way to Soho for brunch, at Gemma, then we made our way over to the same dessert shop we went to on our first date. Finally we walked over to the park where we sat on the bench and talked for an hour on our first date. Upon getting to the park, we played a game, trying to find the bench we sat on. Once we got to it, we sat down and that's when he pulled a book out from behind the bench. I was so confused about how it got there but didn't have time to think, as we started going through the scrapbook he put together for me. From our first picture, to adopting our puppy, to the various trips. At the last page, he got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I couldn't breathe!
Following this, our good friends (Dustin and Kim) were talking pictures and jumped out after we had our moment. Still unable to breathe, we walked to a bar where we were planning to call our parents and grab a drink to celebrate. We made our way to Ten Degrees and he led me to the back room where i was surprised by a room full of our family and closest friends. His parents, siblings and my sister + brother in law flew in from California! My parents came in from NJ and our closest friends in NYC were there to celebrate with us. It was absolutely perfect! I then got another surprise that we would be leaving for our trip on Tuesday (instead of Sunday) so we could spend all day Sunday/Monday with our families. On Tuesday, we flew out to Cancun for a magical week at Le Blanc as his fiance!
See you all tomorrow!
