In today’s last featured event, Biji Planners proves that you can flawlessly seam together multiple events and finish them off with a grand finale! When Anchal and Deepak began preparing for the wedding bash, it was imperative that they pull off a glamorous celebration in which they honored all the friends and family that supported them. What resulted was a fantasy wedding extravaganza and Diya Decor was summoned to ensure that the spacious ballroom at the Grand Empire Banquet and Convention was bathed in luxurious perfection. The decor was so outstanding that we’ve been gazing at photos of the custom designed dance floor and glittering sweetheart stage all morning long. Guests feasted on a towering cake by Fine Cakes by Zehra while rocking Bollywood beats brought the house down. Even after dancing the night away, the bride still looked picture perfect thanks to Beauty Concept by Shirley Wu and Lesonne Bridals who primed the gorgeous lady for the night. Head into the full gallery where the incredible artists from L'Atelier Lumière International Photographie have captured a treasure cove of pics for your perusal. How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

Our first meeting was very much like a 'Bollywood' story. I met my groom, Deepak, at a birthday party which I had no interest to go to, I made every single excuse not to go to a party. However, I was dragged to the party as I had to drive my drunk friends back home.

Deepak was sitting at our table at Boston Pizza in Vaughan but we were not introduced, and as soon we got introduced to each other, somebody got into a fight and we all had to leave Boston Pizza.  Once again, we met at Dave and Busters. I was sitting bored as others were busy drinking, and then one of my friends introduced me to Deepak as he was not drinking as well. He asked me if I want to play games, so we spent 4 hours playing and getting to know each other. It felt that we had known each other for so long. It was the best night I ever had. It felt like love at first sight. At the end of night, we bought each other a teddy bear. Even though we both had a great time and liked each other's company, he was too shy to ask me for my email or phone number. We smiled and said good bye to each other.

I was thinking about him all night, but I was not sure if we were going to meet again.

The next day, we both were looking for each other, I was looking for him at Humber College, whereas, he was doing a co-op in Downtown Toronto. And, he was searching for me on social media. In a few days, he sent me a request to add me as friend on a social media app at that time called “Orkut”

Finally we got in touch through "Orkut," and we started chatting and meeting at Humber College. After a few meetings, I started to realize that he was the one for me; in few months, we became so comfortable with each other and became good friends. Then on April 1st 2007, he asked me to be his girlfriend.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!

I had a hint that he was planning a proposal as he used to tell me random things like I should go for Mani-Pedi soon etc. On Friday, June 24, 2016, Deepak picked me up from my work and took me to our favorite restaurant 'Scaramouche'.

After we finished our main course, the server gave me an envelope with a beautiful card from Deepak. After the dinner, we rushed towards downtown and my heart was racing to find out what was next!

As Deepak was driving through the busy downtown streets like Vin Diesel in Fast and Furious, I was becoming more impatient and curious to know why he was acting so outrageous, as he never did so before. Soon before I could figure out anything, we reached at Thomson hotel.

Just like any Bollywood romantic movie, he hastily gave the keys to valet and one of the staff members luxuriously escorted us to the hotel’s rooftop. He held my hand and started leading the way. I followed along with the love of my life to unfold the mystery. Before I could figure out anything, I saw a corner of rooftop with the prettiest view was decorated with the flowers, balloons, and countless meaningful little sweet gestures all around me.

I was so overwhelmed with that surreal surprise and the next thing I knew that he was on his knees with the RING in his hands. Tears of joy, excitement, and happiness rolled down my eyes and I felt everything around us froze for a moment. Obviously, I said, “Yes!” because it was the day we both have been waiting for the past 9 years. It was one the best days of my life as I was blessed to begin the next chapter of my life with my best friend.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

We started the wedding planning process 6 months before our wedding. We did most of the wedding planning ourselves by using google and going to wedding shows such as Kismet Wedding and Lavish Dulhan.

The first step of our wedding plan was to set up a budget and divided it between most important things to least important things.

In our list, venue, photos and makeup was on the top, and then it was the décor, video and entertainment.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

Even before I started planning my wedding, I fell in love with Shyamal & Bhumika’s graceful and classy designs. The more I became familiar with their works of art, the more I started to fall in love with their couture. It did not take me long enough to make my mind and decide that I wanted to be dressed in Shyamal & Bhumika Bride.

I traveled to India to shop for my wedding outfits. Our journey began in Delhi and we went all around Haryana and Punjab to find my dream lengha. It was such a struggle to find the perfect lengha as my dream lengha was not a typical ‘RED Lengha’. After 3 weeks of intense search, I found it. It was covered with intricate embroidery with fusion designs (all needle work of zardozi, pearls and Swarovski crystal). When I tried that lengha, my family and I fell in love with it.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?

Working with all the different vendors was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, as we not only found the best vendors in the industry but we also developed a great relationship/friendship along the way which we would cherish our whole life.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?

Our guests loved the fact how our wedding was perfectly organized from beginning to the end. They appreciated the fact that we went around from table to table to meet and greet our guests to show appreciation. They also loved the ambiance we created for our guests to experience from cocktail hour to the amazing performances by our friends and family members. Last but not least, they respected how everything happened in a timely manner as that we ensured there was a smooth transition from one thing to another.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

A really special moment in my wedding that constantly replays in my mind was when I gave a surprise to my husband by singing one of our favorite songs “Soch Na Sake” along with the melodious flute played by none other than talented ‘Sahil Khan’ of ‘Flutehypnosia’.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

I decorated our house with the help of my family member for all of the other events. The home décor was kept very traditional as we used lots of flower garlands with fulkari backdrop and vibrant colours to make the space look classy yet not cluttered.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?

I would like to suggest all the Brides-To-Be to enjoy each and every moment of their special day, as this day flies by so quickly. I would also recommend hiring a wedding planner at least for the day of coordination services. And Simmi from Biji planner was amazing, I recommend her 100%. This will help you and your family to be relaxed and enjoy the events to the fullest without worrying about running around to make sure everything goes well in a timely manner.
