How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met my groom for the first time in 2009 when he was visiting India. It was NOT love at first sight. After he went back to the US we stayed in touch once or twice a year. I moved to the US in 2011 where we started talking again. In our conversations during that time our friendship grew. Since we lived in opposite sides of the country, we had long phone calls, unending texts and skype sessions. Sometime during those conversations my feelings started to grow for him. I knew he was "the one" when I finally went to visit him in 2012. That was beginning of our 4 year long distance relationship.
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
In 2015 when I moved back to India, my now husband came to surprise me. He planned the proposal with my family and a few close friends. He told me he was travelling with his friends and would be unreachable for a couple days. Little did I know that he was on his way to India to propose. September 5th 2015, on the day of my parents anniversary, while we were at lunch, he showed up and popped the question!
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We chose to get married in Jakarta, Indonesia since that's where my mom is from. Planning a wedding in another country is not the easiest thing to do. I went to Jakarta 5 months before the wedding to scout locations. We picked Atria Hotel since that was the most convenient location and all our guests could stay at the hotel as well. The Hotel staff was very cooperative and helpful. They pointed me in the direction of their regular vendors and helped making the best choice. My hair & makeup was a bit tricky as Indonesian style makeup is a lot heavier than I like, so trying to explain the look I was going for was not easy.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
My wedding dress was an inspiration from a dress I saw on Pinterest. A family friend designed and stitched the wedding gown for me which was absolutely beautiful and exactly what I wanted. Simple with a touch of elegance.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part I think was just being the bride! You're treated like a queen!
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Don't fret if things don't go the way you planned. You can plan EVERY SINGLE detail down to the second but something will always go wrong. YOU are the bride and you're marrying the man of your dreams. That should be your first priority. Everything else around the both of you is secondary.
Ceremony coming right up!
