Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Milan and I are both very competitive. So he came up with a unique proposal idea that involved a bit of our competitive sides. It totally took me by surprise and he planned it at the spot where we had our first date - Brooklyn Bridge Park. The weekend of the proposal, his brother and sister-in-law planned a trip to visit us in NYC from Atlanta. I wanted to make sure we planned the weekend with what they wanted to do. They listed a few things - namely Brooklyn Bridge. I started planning out our weekend and made reservations to a few of my favorite restaurants I wanted to take them to. As the week approached, the weather started showing rain most of the weekend so I replanned our activities accordingly. This is when Milan got involved with the planning. You should know one thing about him - he does not plan. Ever. He is always more than willing to let me take care of all the planning. He became very adamant that we must walk Brooklyn Bridge on Saturday morning between 10am-12pm beause that is our window of opportunity of no rain. He also told me the dinner reservation I made for 7pm is too late for his brother because he usually eats at 5pm (Mind you, his brother took us to dinner at 9pm when we visited him in Atlanta). I became a bit suspicious because this was too much planning for him.
Fast forward to Saturday morning and we head to Brooklyn Bridge during our "window of opportunity". On the way, Milan was telling his brother and sister-in-law how parks around the city usually have games set up for the public to play in the summertime and that Brooklyn Bridge Park was one of them. I started thinking - this is where we had our first date and that was the only time either of us had been to Brooklyn Bridge Park. There were no games there. He kept insisting there were and I was so adamant that there weren't. We started arguing back and forth until he eventually "let me" win the argument. We arrived to Brooklyn Bridge Park and started casually strolling along the waterfront. We soon approached a couple of tables by the water with some games set up - life-size Jenga, Scrabble and life-size Connect Four! I immediately turned to Milan and was super shocked. We decided to have a go at the games. We played Jenga and Connect Four (Milan lost) and then moved onto Scrabble. Milan sat down on one side of the board and I sat down on the other. I looked down at my letters and I couldn't have had worse letters - Q, J, X, Z, U, V, K! I looked up to start arguing about how unfair this was and didn't even realize that Milan had already started putting his letters on the board. I asked what he was doing and he simply ignored me as he spelled out "Priya will you marry me," got down on one knee and asked me to marry him! Little did I know that this entire day and the game setup were planned by him with the help of a few close family members!
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
