A wedding is all about celebrating the love and in honor of their eternal affection, Shreya and Nimit held a fabulous reception! But first, before they joined the partygoers indoors, the camera of ButtonUp Photography captured the pure essence and unadulterated love of the newlyweds in a romantic and artistic outdoor photo session! I love the beautiful sunlight, and the smoke bomb gave these portraits a modern touch of mysterious vibes! Surf Club on the Sound's glamorous hall was bedecked for the occasion with a vivid color palette of peach and blue hues by the creatives from Rangoli Weddings who also assisted in arranging the affair from start to finish. The wonderful wedding cake also showed eye-catching colors! Aso Palav dressed our Maharani for her last grand event with a sparkly peach lehenga and Yvette Castillo created gorgeous loose hair waves for an effortlessly romantic wedding reception look. The pumping beats of DJ Suhel made everyone dance the night away to celebrate the union while the famous Rasoi cuisine ensured everyone enjoyed an exquisite traditional dinner. How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met Nimit through Tumblr. Neither of us knows how we started following each other, however, we noticed that we shared a lot of common interests and decided to message each other. After months of messages, texts, and phone calls, we met up in Central Park. As crazy as it sounds, I knew he was the one when I saw him. Everything just felt right and so magical. We continued to get to know each other for a year Nimit asked me on a date and took me to the top of the Empire State Building. The rest is history.
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
We took a trip to Aruba two weeks following my sister's wedding (at which I caught the bouquet!). Nimit had told me that he had a surprise for me at the beach. Little did I know, he had been speaking to a proposal planner and photographer for months. When we arrived at Eagle Beach, a message in a bottle awaited us, followed by three wooden signs which said “love” and “magic," leading up to one that said “I love you” with a beautiful table set up with sweets, flowers, and champagne. Nimit asked to take a walk on the beach during sunset. As I was staring at the sunset, Nimit got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Nimit and I were very grateful to have a lot of help with planning from our family. Both of our siblings got married in recent years, which helped as well. We did hire wedding planners (Twin Pearl Events) who were amazing and went above and beyond for us!
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
A trip to India was made. I've always wanted my lengha to be traditional, with a touch of modern. I obviously wanted my sister's opinions, so there was a lot of facetiming going on as we shopped around despite the major time difference.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
We didn't really get to eat at all, but we heard from a lot of family and friends that the food and outdoor cocktail hour with our personalized sunglasses was a huge hit!
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
I have so many moments that are on replay in my mind including when I got onto the mandap and my cousins removed the drape that was covering Nimit's face as well as our first dance as Mr. and Mrs. Patel to "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. However, I think my favorite moment was the time we got together during our "First Look".
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Take a deep breath and remember to soak it all in. Everyone tells you the day will go by in a blink of an eye, and they aren't kidding.
