Hello there, beautiful ladies! It is time to celebrate and enjoy the recent union of our lovebirds through their incredible and vibrant wedding reception. So we hope you are ready to have some fun because this event will make you have a blast! Held inside the halls of the exclusive Hilton Long Island / Huntington, this reception party was something out of this world! Once again, the winning combination of House of Dipali on the decor and Chandai Events on the planning and execution managed to surprise us and left us speechless with such a magnificent event. And if this was not enough, Bollywood DJs took care of the musical mood that lit the dance floor and put all the guests on their feet to the rhythm of the hits of the moment. Those who were not dancing were enjoying the delicious plates that Akbar Restaurant prepared for this gala. So there was no excuse for not having fun, whether eating or dancing, all the guests had a night to remember! Without a doubt, this was the best way for Rupa & Krishen to celebrate their wedding in the company of their family and closest friends. The night was coming to an end when our beautiful couple had the first cut at the cake that City Cakes prepared for this gala. And although the wedding festivities are coming to an end with this event, Rupa & Krishen's everlasting love story has just begun! If you want to enjoy the most beautiful moments of this wedding again, go to our gallery! The good friends at House of Talent Studio have shared the best photos of this celebration, and we have compiled them for you to have a visual delight! So don't miss it out!
How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met on the dating app "Coffee Meet Bagel". We met in New York where I was doing my residency, and he was working in a national lab in Long Island. I knew he was the one when I had a cold and he immediately wanted to drop everything and take me to the doctor- this was just three weeks into dating! After one month of dating, Krishen told me he accepted a job in Alabama and had to move a few weeks after. We had to decide what to do, and naturally, we felt we were too in love to let go, and for two and a half years, we dated long distance.
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Krishen took me to an animal sanctuary upstate. He knows I am a huge animal lover. So, after we toured the area, we saw a cute cat roaming around the sanctuary. We both knelt down to pet the cat. I stood, and he remained, on one knee and proposed!
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I found Maharani Weddings website very helpful! I found my hair and makeup through the site. Because I was in my last year of residency, I was not able to travel to India to find an outfit. However, we found Sai Fashions in hicksville and found all wedding attire there. For decor, I love colors, and since the wedding was at the beginning of summer, I wanted a fresh colorful decor for the ceremony with pinks, yellows greens and purple. For the evening, we wanted to go for a more romantic look with soft pinks that would complement my peacock colored sari.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I knew I did not want to go for the conventional wedding sari colors. When I laid my eyes on a pink fuchsia sari, I knew this was exactly what I wanted. It was sparkly and perfect for summer.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of planning was the cake tasting. Of course, who doesn't love cake! It was the one portion of planning I was able to do with my then-fiance as we were in a long-distance relationship.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The guests loved the ambiance of the wedding- the decor, all the traditions that are typical in a south Indian wedding.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
After I walked into the wedding ceremony- a curtain was between Krishen and me. I will never forget the moment once the curtain dropped and I saw Krishen for the first time. I became filled with excitement and overcome with emotions.
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
We had a Mendhi party at my home in long island. It was a small gathering of all my girlfriends. The following evening, we had the Haldi event at the hotel where all our friends and family gathered to apply Haldi on Krishen, and then on me.
My college friend, Sowjanya Kilaru, is a professional dancer. She put together several dances that all my friends performed including highschool friends, college friends, and podiatry school friends. Finally, as a surprise to my husband, I jumped in and danced as well!
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Enjoy every moment of all your wedding events. Don't worry about the small details. You will remember all the joys of celebrating your wedding with your family and friends.
Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
We absolutely loved our cake, thanks to City Sweets and Confections. The decoration was beautiful and matched my sari. Moreover, the cake was so delicious. I really wanted to have a cake that was more than a simple white cake with flowers and I was beyond impressed. The cake was just as delicious when we had our top layer on our first wedding anniversary.
See you all on Wednesday!
