How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I am a huge fan of romance and fate. I found "my soulmate" while celebrating the happily-ever-after of someone else. Prateek traveled from US to India for his cousin's wedding where he met me in Pune. There’s something undeniably special about a person trusting their gut and trusting in their partner. As they say, when you know, you know. In a very short span of time we got to know each other and were confident about taking our relationship to next level. When we told our families, they were more than happy for us and the rest as they say is history!
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
My wedding planning was done in a very short span of time. The credit of deciding the luxurious wedding venues goes to my mother in law. I had my Sangeet/Shagun ceremony at Andrew W. Mellon Auditorium. Wedding and reception ceremony was at Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center. We hired Dream Shadi for overseeing our events. They made our wedding weekend stress free and flawless. For decoration we hired L'Ambiance and they turned my vision into beautiful reality. If you’re a bride who doesn’t want to stress about her Makeup then hire Suman Khosla (Bridal Elegance). I literally passed out while she was doing my makeup and woke up to the most perfect natural looking glowing face. It was exactly as I had described it to her. For photography, we hired Catch Motion. Harjot did such a great job in turning our moments into lovely memories. We did our wedding shopping from Delhi, India. Few places that I highly recommend is Mehrauli, DLF Emporio, South Extension and Shahpur Jat. For three days we did nothing but shopping and finally got our dream wedding outfits.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I knew from the beginning that I wanted a pastel shade bridal lehanga. My choice was also influenced by the fact that I had a day wedding.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Frankly speaking my wedding planning was stressful because of such a short time frame of three months. One thing that I really cherish about the planning process is the bond I created with my mother in law. We would talk like 5 times a day to discuss about venue, decoration, theme, outfits, wedding cards and souvenir.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
It was Prateek's idea to have an elephant, doves, and Maya (Prateek's dog) at the wedding which turned out to be the highlight for the guests other than food and venue. The Barat was followed by an elephant procession at the wedding. During the procession, more than 350 guests spilled onto Waterfront Street, twirling their scarves overhead and dancing to a drummer’s beat. They hooted and hollered. Prateek entered the baraat on a horse which is the most traditional way. The white horse looked extremely beautiful with the stunning accessories, and shined just like the baraat and as the baratis and added even more royalty to the entire procession. After the Jaimala, we released doves which is a symbols of love and peace. Another high point of the wedding was Prateek's dog Maya making an entrance at the reception ceremony.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
One of my favorite moments was during the reception, just looking around and thinking that so many people were there because they love and support us, and just feeling really lucky that everything came together so well and everyone was happy and celebrating with us.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
I feel that every bride goes through her Bridezilla phase before the wedding which is understandable. But its also important to acknowledge that this time will never come back so enjoy the process of planning and spend time with your loved ones that you won't be able to after your marriage.
We are just getting started over here, so make sure to stick around for more!
