It's Friday again, ladies! Can you believe how fast this week slipped through our fingers? It seems that it went by in the blink of an eye! But now that we think it through, maybe it was because we were having so much fun with every love story we saw this week. And today is no exception! We want to end this week with a flourish by sharing Kavitha & Neal's big wedding celebration and believe us; we are sure you are going to love it so much! For this first installment, we'll be taking a look at an intimate and romantic first look photoshoot thanks to the fabulous images captured by DEVI by KUMARIMAGES, who made sure to immortalize every scene of this memorable moment. Our gorgeous Maharani Kavitha burst into the scene after being glammed up by SV Bridal Concepts by Sanjana Vaswani, and she immediately lighted up the environment with all her beauty as she looked like a princess from an Indian fairytale. The exquisite makeup, the sleek bun adorned with floral accessories, and of course, the artistic Mehendi designed by Sameera & Associate endowed this Maharani with so much beauty and traditional flair that Raja Neal couldn't take his eyes off of her, and neither do we! If you want to check more of this sweet and charming couple, don't miss today's gallery. It is the perfect preamble before heading off to the Hyatt Regency Greenwich to enjoy the magical wedding ceremony fully decored by Abhishek Decorators. So, make sure to check it out now!
How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Neal and I met during a dance practice for one of our South Asian cultural shows at Boston College. Neal was dancing behind me and accidentally kicked me during one of the dance moves. I turned around and the first thing he said was "Let's hug it out." I didn't know him at the time so I was pretty shocked. Fast forward a little over a year later, Neal and I had just started dating and he decided to take me on a picnic. It was a surprise but he took me to this spot he had discovered with one of his friends where we could see all of Boston. We sat at a picnic bench and he had gotten lunch for us. His favorite sandwich from a local deli and an ice cream cake... which had melted by the time we got to it. It was so sweet. That's when I knew he was special.
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
My best friend Oishee decided to take me out for a "girls day!" We are both doing our residency in New York and are always quite busy so she said we should have a day of pampering on a day when we were both off! She told me it would be fun to dress up even! We went to get our nails done, then cocktails at Beauty and Essex, some of our usual activities. She had a special reservation at a rooftop bar which we were running late for. Beauty and essex was taking some time with our order so they offered free champagne which my friend surprisingly turned down. If other things hadn't tipped me off, I knew something was up! She could tell I might suspect, so by the time we got to the roof she was nudging me towards the rooftop where we saw Neal, facing the city skyline, rose petals all over the roof with candles. He turned around and I remember tears rushing down my face. I honestly can't even remember anything he said during his proposal but I said yes without hesitation. One of the happiest days of my life.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Wedding planning was certainly stressful especially during my first year of residency, but all I can say is that no wedding can be planned without the love and support of family and friends. I had my cousins and aunts who are always there for backup! My hair and makeup was done by Sanjana Vaswani who is like a fairy godmother. She helped me with the looks I wanted perfectly! Neal was the one who actually found her when he was doing his wedding research! My decorations were done by Abhishek Decorators from Edison as well. They were able to recreate all of our ideas and make them a reality. For our Sangeet we had bright colors with umbrellas and a swing where we watched all of the performances and speeches from our family and friends. We were even able to enter our sangeet on a colorful rickshaw! We had a traditional Kohinur circle mandap with flowers adorned at the top and a catwalk so all guests could see. Our reception decor was a perfect end for our fairytale! Hues of purple and pink with gold shimmer for our backstage. Our venue was the Hyatt Regency in Greenwich, CT. The hotel was beautiful from the inside out with an indoor garden atrium. We didn't even have to leave the hotel for beautiful photos for both the bridal party and all of our guests. The sangeet was at the Serafina Italian Center which was a spectacular venue with beautiful greenery and high ceilings and chandeliers.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
My wedding saree was actually from India. I'm a traditional South Indian girl at heart so I really wanted to wear a maroon Banarsi saree. My sangeet outfit and my reception gown were both from Nazraana in Edison, NJ. I had been looking on pinterest for the type of gown I wanted for my reception, I kept showing everyone a picture of this beautiful silver gown completely adorned with stone work. No one was able to find anything that compared. On a spur of the moment trip to Edison with my friend and her husband, we just thought we'd pop into Nazraana for fun. The exact outfit I had been dreaming of was there on the rack, I tried it on and it fit perfectly. I purchased it on the spot. I felt like Cinderella!
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Well one thing which we had a lot of fun was food/cake tasting! We are both huge foodies and love trying new things. Our caterer was Chand Palace in New Jersey. The food was absolutely incredible! The chef was able to create new dishes based on our tastes and ideas. We also had an amazing viennese Dessert buffet which our guests loved! Our cake was from DiMare Bakery which was in CT near our venue. There were endless flavors to choose from!
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our guests enjoyed many different parts of the wedding! At our Sangeet, our decorator created a selfie station, with a colorful rickshaw and a chudi bazaar.
The Hyatt also had a beautiful atrium with plenty of greenery inside which was great for photos as well!
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
My favorite moment from the wedding is our first look! I walked down into the atrium with trees all around us, and I put my hands over Neal's eyes from behind. He turned around and saw me. He told me I looked beautiful and nearly had tears in his eyes. But he quickly stopped and said No I can't cry because then you'll cry and ruin your makeup.
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
