How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met my husband at a party my junior year of college (his senior year). We had mutual friends all throughout college but it just took us a while to meet. He fell for me instantly! And although it took me a few weeks to agree to go out with him, once I did, I fell for him very hard! I would bake him cookies and make excuses to see him around campus. He would do my homework and shower me with flowers and gifts. It only took about 4 months into dating when on my 21st birthday he fake proposed to me with a ring pop. That moment we knew we would be together forever and that he was “the one”.
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
By the time we were ready to get engaged to be married, I was still living in the US and Aditya had moved back to India, Between being very busy with my job and his, Aditya surprised me with a long weekend trio to Dubai! He booked the Shangri-La Hotel for us, took me around the city, and one day that weekend he rented us a Yacht. The Yacht went around the Arabian Sea to the Atlantis Hotel and back. As soon as we got to the hotel front, Aditya took me to the front of the boat, and at midnight, he kneeled down and asked me to marry him! It was magical!!
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Our wedding was originally supposed to be a 1,000 person wedding in Mumbai. However, with Covid we had to re-plan last minute. 2 months before our wedding, we decided to have it in Cincinnati (where I am from). SO planning was STRESSFUL because it was my parents and I doing everything ourselves. The venue was the hardest decision at first but we could not have been happier choosing Manor House. The room had glass cielings and walls so the sunlight coming in the day of the wedding was incredible. Every decision after that (including hair, makeup, decor) was made probably 2 weeks before the wedding! I was too nervous to book anything with Covid and Covid regulations rapidly changing in November. However, the decisions I ended up making couldn’t have been better. When I walked into the venue at 5am that morning, tears rolled down my eyes seeing the flowers and decor. The decorations were perfect!! My hair and makeup also was perfect. Nina Khan worked her magic and made me look better than I ever imagined.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
It was stressful selecting my bridal lengha! I was supposed to do some lavish shopping in Mumbai. This turned into a last minute trip to New Jersey to find something as quick as possible. I originally thought of wearing light pink for my day. However, walking through stores, I couldn’t imagine losing my opportunity to wear red. It’s every India girl’s moment to be in this color and shine. And lucky for me, the first store I walked into had a great option!
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of the planning process was making creative decisions with my mom. When she got married, her family made all of the decisions for her. So to see her getting exciting making decisions and choosing things she likes made me so happy! Even after I chose the song I wanted to walk down the aisle to, my mom had different ideas. But the songs she chose made her so happy that I went with them!
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The guests LOVED the venue and the decorations. B3E did a great job planning and decorating.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
I think walking down the aisle was one of the most special moments. Seeing my mom and dad tear up as I walked down meant to world to me. Aditya also had the biggest smile on his face!
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
For the mini lunch reception after, we had lunch, did speeches, cut our cake, and had our first dance. Unfortunately, 2 weeks before the wedding, dancing was outlawed by the government due to covid. The decor stayed the same as the ceremony and did a quick transformation to add place settings and remove chairs. For our first dance, midway through, Aditya and I grabbed his mom and my dad and danced with them too. This brough the biggest smile to their faces!
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
My advice is to not stress about so many details! At the end of the day, the only thing that mattered to me is what I wore, how my hair/makeup looked, the photographer, and of course getting married! Honestly, at the end of the day my biggest feeling was relief! I was just so relieved that I was finally married to the love of my life - what I wanted all along.
Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
We had matching masks made with our hashtag on them for all of our guests! We got customized hand sanitizers too!
We only had 25 guests who all quarantined and got tested for our day. Aditya and his family flew in all the way from India. We could not have been more grateful for this!
That is all for today darlings. See you tomorrow for more!
