Happy Monday, Maharanis! Today we have an extraordinary event: Nina & Rakesh's wedding festivities. They hosted an incredible ceremony and reception at the magnificent Renaissance Baltimore Harborplace Hotel. A place where the unexpected comes to life and where you will make memories that will last for a lifetime. So this happened with our lovely couple. To make sure every detail went off perfectly, Nishana Events did a fantastic wedding planning! Imperial Decor added finishing touches to transform this wedding into a real-life fairy tale. Another joyful event, a Sangeet party, took place at the Radisson Hotel Baltimore Downtown-Inner Harbor, and everyone loved it as it was full of music, dancing, and colors. I think this celebration was a vibrant blast! My dears, let's discuss how beautiful Nina looked. Thanks to G3 Fashion Surat, Mangaldeep Surat, Shree Designer Saree, and their luxurious designs, our Maharani looked like Royalty! The dresses combined perfectly with the makeup done by Empowder by Amola, an artist that makes women see and feel beautiful! But that is not all! Attrangi added an extra touch of elegance with their sparkling pieces of jewelry. And we cannot leave the handsome groom behind; Suit Supply made Rakesh look like the elegant Raja he is. During this delightful wedding, the music and lightning were exceptional! King Entertainment knows how to make everyone move on the dance floor! Our lovely couple wanted every guest to remember their most important day. Hot Pink Photo Booth offered their best services and took beautiful photos of the guests! I am quite sure they all enjoyed this treat! As you know, a photograph is the best way to relive a significant day; that is why our Nina & Rakesh decided to call Hyp Creative Co. The pictures taken by them were astonishing! Why don't you see them? We have created a gallery for you to get inspired, and let me tell you, once you see the pictures, you will want to see the film Studio Nine Photography + Cinema created. Believe me, it will make your heart smile!
How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met pretty much how every couple meets nowadays...a dating app. After what felt like an eternity of swiping right and donating hundreds of dollars to shaadi.com, we both were excited to meet someone who seemed “normal”. Our first date at Matchbox Pizza started with awkwardness and analyzing each other’s heights, but ended up being a five hour evening wandering the DC streets, laughing at Nina’s crazy raas stories and deep conversations about Rakesh’s life experiences.
It wasn’t long until we realized that we are the complete opposite. Rakesh is about the simple things in life, revolved around his sports or eating his hummus and cheese burritos. I am more complex or as Rakesh always puts it, “extra”. I appreciate the fine details in everything, love art, I am a total foodie, and I love watching bollywood movies and trash tv.
Most of our relationship was during the COVID pandemic. Although we haven't enjoyed traveling together or have many different experiences outside the house, we cherished the little moments and ultimately our similar values bonded us for life.
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
In October 2020, we decided that we would finally venture out to see Vermont’s fall foliage. Rakesh did a great job keeping his big plans in Vermont a secret….except for the 20 times mentioning to dress up to go take pictures at Mount Equinox.
That morning, our sisters, who drove up in secret, got to the mountain early to create the beautiful proposal setup while battling a group of tourists who were taking selfies of themselves in the middle of the setup. We eventually followed, stopped at the picnic location, and I realized what was happening.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I have been saving lenghas on Pinterest and Instagram for years. I always thought I wanted an all red lengha but after countless facetime calls to India seeing all the options I ended up falling in love with the red and sage green combination. I couldnt find any ready made lenghas so I got it custom from Mangaldeep shop in Surat, Gujarat. After patiently waiting for the DHL truck for months I finally recieved it 2 weeks before my wedding. Thankfully it was perfect and matched the jewelry I previously bought!
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
If I had any advice to future Brides it would be to let go the week of your wedding and manage your expectations. There will always be hiccups and things that don't go the way you hoped no matter how much you plan. Focus on the good and take in every moment because in a blink of an eye it will be over.
That is all for today, my Queens, but come back tomorrow for a new love story!
