Happy Fri-Yay Maharanis! I hope you are ready to be dazzled by Kimberley & Vedesh's lovely twelve years old journey! So, let's get this entry started! Our charming couple hosted an adorable ceremony and cozy reception at Leonard's Palazzo to celebrate a new chapter of their life as husband and wife. Maharanis, we know that organizing and creating a personalized décor for your big day can be stressful because you might want to transfer the most meaningful moments of your relationship into your wedding day. Still, this event was not the case at all! These lovebirds trusted the one and only Ruban Events team to plan and design the couple's special day. The professionals at Blossom Marimuthu also harmonized with that team to create the most extraordinary ambiance, and the results amazed every guest! They did a perfect job working together! I adore how they managed to blend every detail with the venue perfectly. Maharanis, another part of this wedding I want to give my heart to is how our lovely Kimberley looked! She combined the big four "musts." Gorgeous hairstyle and enchanting makeup by Beauty by Tamanna, exclusive dresses from Nazranaa NJ and Beauty by Tamanna, and the most glowing jewelry from Kirni Designs. Plus, a very delicate Mehndi design by Henna For All. Kuddos for these teams! I give them my heart simply because they made this Maharani look radiant, comfortable, and most importantly, perfect for Vedesh to stare at her all night long! J'adore Love Photography team was present to record a film worth watching a million times and capture the most adorable moments throughout the event. Thanks to their magnificent job, we have put together an exclusive gallery for your enjoyment. Go check it out!
How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
My cousin thought we would be a great match and was playing cupid at the age of 12. She introduced us via AIM & myspace in 2009 when we were in middle school. After the exchange of screenames & profiles, we spent endless nights on the phone and lots of video calls with old-school Zoom called ooVoo chatting the night away. We decided to make it "official" after getting to know each other for a few months. Somewhere in the middle of those few months of getting to know one another, it truly hit me that he's the one - he literally checked everything off of my silly "the-one" list and the butterflies just never stopped. We were the true definition of "young and in-love <3"
I had moved temporarily to Florida for a few years during high school. He began flying me out back to NYC during breaks and holidays to spend time with him. In 2014, I graduated high school and decided to move back to NYC to be with him and to further my university studies. It was only a matter of time where we realized we're not getting any younger and it's time to make things more official. So we decided to introduce our families to one another.
To our surprise.......our families already knew each other from back home in Guyana and were village neighbors. We couldn't have thought of such a coincidence or meaningful way to solidify that we were meant to be.
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
For our 5 year dating anniversary, we took our first couples trip to Jamaica.
He surprised me with this romantic dinner on the beach, a violinist, and a photographer to capture the special moment! Before you know it, he was down on one knee and popping the question.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I began planning for the wedding right before the covid pandemic hit its peak in late 2019/early 2020. This day has been in the making for such a long time so I knew exactly where I wanted my outfits from, who I wanted to do my makeup & hair, who I would like for my henna, etc. etc.
We had this fantasy of hosting 250+ people for a ceremony and reception. We even starting touring venues and almost went through with booking for all events. Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned and for everyone's health and safety we decided to scale back and have an intimate ceremony.
We always planned on getting married in September. Our dating & engagement anniversary fell on the same date and we wanted to continue the trend - September 25th.
Both of our favorite numbers is 12 - and 2021 was our 12 year dating anniversary. The date felt perfect to us! So we planned and aimed for 09.25.21 - pandemic or no pandemic.
A year in advance, I began reaching out to vendors to start the process. My first vendor booked was the Hair & MUA person because I knew she would be booked to capacity. The next vendor was the photographer. After securing those individuals, everything came into place. Then came our initial consultation for the outfits, the decorator, the florist, the venue, you name it. We took baby steps and allowed ourselves enough time to plan for any disasters.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I started inspiration boards everywhere - instagram, Pinterest, facebook - anywhere I saw bridal lehengas that I liked. I wanted to take a traditional approach to the color and stick with burgundy. I was always fond of a specific designer - Nazranaa in Iselin, NJ. I was constantly looking for new designs from them and pinpointing what I love and what I want to avoid.
I visited the store 11 months before my wedding date to get an idea for what I'm looking for. I tried on 4-5 outfits and really liked one but still wanted to keep my options open.
Three months after that first visit, I went back with my husband and fell in love with the same dress I really liked on the first visit. The only decision I was left to make was which color I wanted because the store had a beautiful pink version and the color in my mind was a traditional red/burgundy. The owner & designer convinced me to go with my heart and choose red/burgundy since this is the perfect opportunity for a bride to wear red versus pink can be worn to any event.
I walked out of that store that day with my customized dress being brought to life!
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part was working with so many vendors including small businesses. I worked with many professional and kind individuals who made my special day even more special. These individuals were patient and very accommodating - which can be difficult in such an industry. Even after my event, I still continued to foster relationships with these vendors and I must say that has been one of the best takeaways from the wedding!
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
My guests loved the creativity behind the event and decor and that it was customized to be traditional yet modern.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The most special moment was when it all came together and the anxiousness of how the day will look goes away. To be able to look at my groom and I in the mirror and say that the day has finally come is what constantly replays in my mind. Finally.....after 12 long and beautiful years.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Social media will be such a huge part of planning - you can get so much inspiration from so many different platforms. Please do your research months ahead of time and come prepared with ideas and suggestions for your vendors/wedding party. Your inspiration and ideas that you want to implement will benefit you and save so much time and planning. Being indecisive and open to options can delay and create lots of confusion & unnecessary stress.
My dears, keep coming back for more!
