How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Vishal and I met at a pre-college summer camp for nerds the summer before our senior year of high school. We somehow stayed connected despite not going to the same high school, college, med school or residency, dating for 12 years before Vishal proposed. I knew Vishal was the "one" very early on (which is probably why still hung on to each other despite the distance!). I'm really grateful we stayed connected and made it to this point in our lives.

Vishal spent the better part of his 20's in Boston, so I would frequently fly there to visit for weekend trips. On one of these occasions, he planned a trip for us to go to Maine to visit Portland and Acadia National Park. The coast lines were beautiful and the seafood was amazing! Near the end of our trip, Vishal planned one last hike for us at the North Bubble at Acadia. He arranged a secret photographer who was disguised as another hiker at the top of the mountain who was able to capture the moment when he asked the question. I was completely surprised! We then flew back to the Midwest (where we are both from) to celebrate with our families.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
When choosing a venue, we wanted an area in a big city that would be easy for our guests to fly into. We ultimately decided on Chicago as that is the closest big city for both our families. The Palmer House was a very easy decision -- we loved that it had multiple distinct, elegant ballrooms that we could use for each of our events. We also felt it would be very central for our guests and easy for them to stay at the Palmer while attending our events at the hotel.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I really wanted to go to India for my bridal shopping, but unfortunately couldn't with my residency schedule. I was very fortunate that my mom and other family members were able to travel and pick out my outfits on my behalf. There were multiple face time phone calls between my mom and I the two weeks she was there to pick out my outfits for the event. I knew I wanted to wear a bright red lengha for our Hindu ceremony (drawing inspo from Priyanka Chopra ;) ) and was really excited when my mom showed me the option we ended up purchasing.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Definitely the food and cake tasting!
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The food and the DJ! Our vendors did an amazing job.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Our first look right before the Sikh Ceremony. I think that's when it really hit me that all the planning and hard work we had put into our wedding weekend was finally unfolding. It was a serene and calming moment for both of us.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Enjoy the moment as much as you can. It is so rare and special to have all your closest friends and family member in one area celebrating you
