Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I wanted to do everything myself so I didn’t hire a wedding planner. We chose the venue by researching through destination weddings as well as the internet. We chose Jamaica as our destination because before we were a couple I had always said I would like to get married in Jamaica and he jokingly asked if he would be invited. When he proposed he remembered our conversation from years ago and reminded me about Jamaica.
We both love reggae so for the reception I wanted to bring that love to our guests. I created a seating chart with each table having a reggae song title instead of a table number.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I had seen a picture online 10 years ago and had not heart set on getting married in that outfit. I found a designer in India, sent them the picture and asked if they could make me the lengha and they did an amazing job. Since it was a destination wedding I didn’t want to have the typical all red or maroon outfit so I chose to have a shade of light blue/sea blue in my outfit.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
They honestly loved everything

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Do what you and your fiancé want, you will constantly get unsolicited advise from every family member. It is your big day don’t let anyone ruin it.

This real-life fairytale continues! So don't go too far because we are a few moments away from unveiling a grand reception party you don't want to miss!

Montego Bay, Jamaica Indian Wedding by True Colors Photography

Happy Thursday, ladies! We hope you are ready to venture into a romantic love trip because we're taking you to Montego Bay, Jamaica, for you to enjoy the beautiful Indian destination affair Amrita & Sandeep's had for their big wedding day! So, get your travel documents and join us at the Grand Palladium Jamaica & Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa! This striking venue nestled in the paradisiacal shores of the Caribbean hosted the ceremony that united these lovebirds in marriage! And we loved every bit of this event thoroughly designed by Karen Bussen. Tai Flora Luxe took advantage of the spectacular natural setting and created a minimalist decor that seemed almost surreal to the point that more than one of the guests scratched their eyes to confirm they were not day-dreaming! And we want to make a big shoutout to Leanna Budrie - Grand Palladium Jamaica & Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa for the perfect coordination of this event! Because we know that coordinating a wedding is already a task in itself, but it can get twice as hard if we talk about a destination wedding. Still, she took care of everything in such a perfect way that it all ran so smoothly! Check more of this ceremony by taking a look at the visual masterpieces by True Colors Photography in today's gallery!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Mihir and I met at work during the summer of 2012, I was a summer intern there and he was working full-time. For one of my projects during my internship- I was handing out a questionnaire to each department and that’s when I came into his department and started conversing with him. He had intentionally not written his name on the questionnaire which gave me another reason to talk to him. We clicked right away and started seeing and talking to each other a lot more. A year later, we started dating and have been together ever since then. He always brings the best side of me and is extremely supportive of every decision I make. As the years passed and our relationship became stronger, I realized he was the one. I always wanted to marry someone that is not only my partner but also my best friend with who I can always count on and talk openly with.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Mihir’s proposal plan was to try and recreate our very first date and to go the same place for dinner, take the same walk along the lakeshore, and surprise me where we first sat and talked. Unfortunately Mother Nature’s schedule wouldn’t allow for it to occur on the first day he tried. It began to rain and Mihir wisely chose to change the plan as he knew I wouldn’t like the pictures of the proposal being ruined by rain. He craftily attempted to propose again during the same week, by kneeling to tie his shoes, and I’ll admit I thought that was going to be it, but once again, rain played spoiler. The day he finally proposed, we were walking around the port after having lunch and it was a gorgeous spring day outside, we were indulging on our gelato and i didn’t even realize we had walked to a serene and private area of the lakeshore. He started telling me about how he feels about me and then went on his knees and ended up popping the question. I couldn’t have asked for a better proposal because he remembered our first date and mimicked it for the proposal!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
As I have a design background, I always wanted to incorporate a touch of my vision for the wedding which included brainstorming on Monterrey by creating mood boards. I then collaborated with my wedding coordinator, Leanna Burdie by showcasing what I was envisioning with lots of notes and images that best describes what I was looking for. Then she showed me what the resort can offer and we started selecting the decor, linen, layout, etc. I made welcome bags for all the guests that were coming with some snacks, waterproof phone covers, our wedding week itinerary and thank you cards.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I found my Bridal Lengha at The New Delhi Company in Toronto. I wanted to wear a traditional colour but did not want red, so I started exploring other colour options such as burgundy, I also did not want to wear a very heavy Lengha as our wedding venue was on the beach. The day I wore my Bridal Lengha, I knew right away that the outfit is the one!

The other outfits for the rest of my events were from India. Thanks to my mom and masi along with constant FaceTiming her in India during odd hours of the day.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Our wedding day, as I was walking down the aisle and saw Mihir - I felt so content and ready to marry the man of my dreams.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Things may not always go as you planned but always remember to cherish and enjoy every moment during your wedding festivities.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
Jewelry: India
Decor such as table numbers, welcome drinks sign, entrance table design layout bangles and bindi bar signs for mehendi was designed by me.
The m&p sign for the reception backdrop and cake topper was ordered on Etsy.

We hope you've enjoyed today's featured wedding as much as we did! Have a great rest of the day, and make sure to tune in tomorrow for more!
