Long Island, NY Indian Wedding by Recall Pictures

What I love the most about being an Editor for Maharani Weddings is the simple ability to fly around the world from the comfort of my own home. Revisiting the special moment of an Indian bride's fairytale wedding is so magical that sometimes you just cannot put the feelings into words. I have always loved New York and now I have another reason to fall in love with Long Island. If you missed Shaili and Sagar's pre-wedding ceremonies decorated by Florista Décor (you can click here for all the deets!) and now I return with the incredible Indian wedding ceremony at the Oheka Castle Historic Hotel in Long Island. The talents of Makeup by Anita were in full force that morning as the bride emerged from her beauty chambers looking like a magazine cover. Shaili was a contemporary Indian bride that wasn’t afraid of being alluring while maintaining a sense of elegance. The Indian wedding ceremony took place outdoors of the castle (simply fitting for this Maharani!) and Elegant Affairs Inc. upped the romance factor with dreamy décor. Some venues are inherently sentimental and the lush botanical gardens with a beautiful floral mandap was an element of this Indian wedding that was perfect in every way. Urvashi Mishra, Wedding & Event Planner ensured that she took care of all the details so the bride and groom could focus on the most important theme of the night - each other. Long Island, NY Indian Wedding by Recall Pictures

Today, I invite you to the jaw-dropping celebration honoring Shaili and Sagar! The explosive sangeet ceremony at the Hilton Long Island Huntington was one of my favorites to date! A once in a lifetime Indian wedding calls for a one of a kind wedding decorator and Florista Décor ensured that the spacious quarters was anything but ordinary. An Indian bride often dreams of wearing her best lengha to her wedding ceremony and reception, however, let's just take a minute of silence for Shailil's choice of trousseau. How amazingly gorgeous is that dark turquoise, flowing lace lengha? Makeup by Anita added a high impact beauty look that just added to this Indian bride's charm. Urvashi Mishra, Wedding & Event Planner ensured that every tiny detail was planned to perfection. From single to soulmate from the first date to forever, I have all the images of this magical celebration in our gallery captured by Recall Pictures

Charlotte, NC Indian Wedding by A&A Photo & Video

Today, we’re bringing you readers a visual treat with Aishwarya and Amit’s black tie reception gala. The duo brought on Suhaag Garden and Ayesha Mian to take care of all planning and design details for their gorgeous Indian wedding affair. The bride and groom made their triumphant entrance to The Ballantyne Hotel and Lodge, and the spacious quarters shined with elegance. The venue is absolutely stunning on its own but with the magical touch of Suhaag Garden, every image captured by A&A Photo & Video left us speechless. Each of fashionista Aishwarya’s ensembles reflected her deep-rooted Indian heritage intermixed with modern sophistication, and her glittering reception lehenga was the pinnacle of her bridal looks in our opinion! Amit Vasi ensured that the venue was bathed in euphoric beats and luminous lighting. Every reception detail was painstakingly executed, and shades of white and gold bathed the space (down to their gold dipped cake). One of the most treasured moments of the night was the cake cutting ceremony baked specially for the couple by Cake Expressions by Lisa. The duo had an absolute ball throughout every moment of the weekend. Aishwarya told us, “We ended the night as we usually do - last ones standing on the dance floor. It was the happiest weekend of my life, and I wouldn’t change a thing!” Sounds like a blast! We have all the action packed photos for you to enjoy in our full gallery.

Charlotte, NC Indian Wedding by A&A Photo & Video

We were dazzled as we entered The Ballantyne Hotel and Lodge venue, and are swooning over every single sparkling part of Aishwarya and Amit’s wedding event. After all, we’re in the wedding business and drooling over wedding lenghas, jewelry sets and gorgeous mandaps are all in a day’s work! Aishwarya and Amit’s love story was brimming with all sorts of sweetness and when the bride gushed about all the details our hearts were overflowing with joy. After the duo’s first date, sparks were flying, and here we are unveiling all the details of their lavish wedding! There’s not a moment to miss, and luckily A&A Photo & Video was there to capture every magical detail. The masterful floral and decor team from Suhaag Garden created a blush mandap and stage set up that was the stuff of fairytale dreams. The bride was a ray of light in a sunny, yellow sari and golden accessories (including a lux, bejeweled belt). Her natural bridal look was the height of chicness. After the palla was pinned in place, it was time for Aishwarya to wow her guests. She floated down the candle and petal strewn aisle under a floral canopy to her elated Raja. We have all the ceremony snaps in our full gallery for your perusal. As a bonus treat the bride reveals all to Maharani Weddings down below.

Behind the Scenes Scoop From The Bride:

After graduating medical school in 2013, I moved to Charlotte to start my residency training. One night, I went out with my new friends, and someone behind me in line struck up a conversation with me. I turned around and asked “Are you talking to me?” And he was! Amit and I chatted that night about all sorts of things - his love of old vinyl records, my love for books, his Punjabi heritage, his grandpa, etc., and I felt like I was meeting someone I already knew.

The next day, my phone chimed around noon: “Hey Aishwarya, this is Amit. If you’re free tonight, I’d love to take you to dinner.” That night, I went on my very first date in Charlotte.  Before we were seated, Amit told me about another place that he wanted to take me to for brunch (my favorite weekend activity). I was so excited that he was already thinking about the next time we would be together.

During the next few years, I realized how lucky I was that my first date in this new city would also be my last one. Amit proposed to me on an autumn evening during my third year of residency.

During my chief year of residency, we began to plan our wedding. My team of planners - event coordination by Ayesha Mian, decoration and design by Suhaag Garden, and our wedding planner at Ballantyne Hotel - were instrumental in making our wedding weekend absolutely perfect.

Our wedding weekend commenced with my mehndi ceremony. This was attended by close friends and family. We had a cool front moving in that April evening, but everyone soon forgot about the weather as we started the celebration. My decor team arranged a beautiful jula for Amit and me to be seated, and this was also the perfect place for us to enjoy our Haldi ceremony the next day. Under a Carolina blue sky, our family and friends anointed us with the turmeric paste which is integral to this ceremony.

That night, the celebration really got underway with the Sangeet. My sister organized the performances for the evening, which included dances by both of our mother and fathers, as well as group dances choreographed by the bridal and groom’s parties. My sister is actually quite shy about public performances, and we had discussed her stage fright months before the wedding weekend. I know I will always remember how her dancing captivated the audience, and how much she loved me to be able to put her fears behind her and head to the dance floor.

The next day, I watched the sun rise while getting ready for my wedding ceremony. We were married during another beautiful, sunny day. I walked down the aisle under a hand-made flower canopy that my aunt and mother had created for me. I wore a gold sari and was escorted by my father and my four closest male relatives. My mother joined us as we walked to the mandap, which was all pale blush, ivory, and roses. It was even more than I had ever imagined.

The wedding festivities concluded with a black tie reception later that evening. Amit and I love to dance, and I will always remember our entrance into the wedding reception to our favorite song by K. Flay. My wedding gagra was embroidered with thousands of Swarovski crystals, and these shone and flashed as Amit twirled me and dipped me on the dance floor.  The highlight of the evening was a movie that my sister and my brother-in-law produced to tell our story. My sister ended the evening with a slideshow she had put together with memories from our baby pictures to our engagement photos, so that guests from both sides could truly know us as a couple.

We ended the night as we usually do - last ones standing on the dance floor. It was the happiest weekend of my life, and I wouldn’t change a thing.

Hurry back! All of Aishwarya and Amit’s reception deets are up next!

Charlotte, NC Indian Wedding by A&A Photo & Video

Our inner bride squealed with glee when Aishwarya and Amit’s wedding landed on our desks. We were ticked by the couple’s sweet love story that started in Charlotte, North Carolina while they waited in line to enter an event. Their wedding was bursting with the most incredible design elements dreamed up by the floral and decor team at Suhaag Garden. The weekend blasted off in full force with Aishwarya and Amit’s technicolor Sangeet treat. Suhaag Garden festooned The Ballantyne Hotel and Lodge ballroom with marvelous sunset colors. The bold yellows, tangerines, and violets popped so beautifully. Aishwarya’s sister organized all the jubilant performances, and the couple was captivated by each and every number as they sat on their lovely jula swing! Maharani Aishwarya perfectly matched the vibrant decor in her richly embroidered purple, pink, and yellow lehenga and glowed all night long. The evening ended as it always does: With Aishwarya and Amit rocking out on the dance floor! Hurry over to the full gallery by A&A Photo & Video for all the stellar moments from this rainbow bright Sangeet. We’ll be back in a flash to cover all the duo’s ceremony deets as they become Mr. and Mrs!
