Featured Indian Wedding : Renee loves Nick, Part II

Such an exciting day today!  Our new blog, R A N I S, is up and running and we are featuring one of the prettiest weddings I have ever laid eyes on.  A great way to kick off the new year!

Renee and Nick's wedding goes down as a Maharani Weddings favorite because the beachy elements of this wedding are just spectacular. We choose Nikki Khan, of Exquiste Events, to be a Platinum Guide member because her weddings always have a cohesive look of understated glamour & elegance. We just love what Nikki and Renee created together!

From Nikki : Renee and Nick’s love for the ocean was apparant in the fact they chose the wedding location that had uninhibited views of the Pacific. We decided to bring the ocean theme in her design and therefore the two colors that were chosen were white and aqua blue.

Here is a great idea to add a little something special to your beach themed Indian wedding. The event designers did a great job bringing the ocean into these centerpieces.  A little pop of the shells and star fish adds the perfect thematic touch.

A bit more from Nikki : Renee handmade the menus with sea shells around, place cards and gift boxes.  We created a magical setting by keeping the flowers at minimum in order to truly enhanced the ambiance of the venue.  The tables were scattered with sea shells, star fish, and the flowers that ran across the entire table length like a runner.  There were large arrangements of willow branches, sea shells and white flowers in between the tables.  After the ceremony, guests sipped the blue cocktails overlooking the ocean while a jazz band played beautiful music.  The dinner area was enclosed with hedges and was "revealed " once the guests were ushered to the dinner area.  Tables were set in a U Shape with a rectangular white high gloss dance floor in the middle.  Dinner was served family style and in between courses, guests enjoyed dancing while the dj played nostalgic Indian songs.  Once bhangra music started, everyone was on the dance floor having a great time.  Wine bottles were given to each departing guest that were selected by the groom.  The night was enchanting and guests left experiencing a very unique Indian wedding.

Featured Indian Wedding : Renee loves Nick, Part I

I am always searching high and low to bring our readers the hippest, most stylish South Asian weddings.  And, today’s wedding might just take the cake.  Having an uber-stylish wedding is never about the budget – it is about the attention to detail and the thought that goes into each and every item. The details of this South Asian wedding completely reflect this bride and groom’s personal style and really make it stand out.

Megan Stark submitted Renee and Nick’s picture perfect wedding that she shot last July, on the beautiful bluffs of a private estate in Malibu.  Take a peek…

The bride and her planner, Nikki Khan, used a thoughtful edited eye.  By having understated flowers, they were able to capture the beauty of the estate, without having a the decor compete with the views of the Pacific Ocean.  The results?  A breath taking, serene backdrop that is simply magnificent!

I am obsessing over this color scheme and the décor. Coming up shortly, we get up close with our Platinum Guide Member, Nikki Khan, and the details of this casually elegant affair.  Stay tuned!

I have to say, I am a little sad to see this wedding come to an end.  The color palette, the details, the décor – I am just swooning.  If you missed any of this glorious affair you can see the goodies here, here, and here.  Otherwise, here is Nital and Kristopher’s celebration as Mr. & Mrs.

The day was made possible by Marie Rhodes of Affaires of Splendor.  The yummy cake was done by Jamaica's Cakes. The florals were done by Kate Baker, and the gorgeous images by Laura Grier of A Beautiful Day Photography.  Thank you to all the vendors for their lovely work, and congrats to Nital and Kristopher!

Featured Indian Wedding : Nital loves Kristopher, Part III

Hello everyone!  We are back today with the ultra fashionable wedding of Nital and Kristopher.A BIG thank you to Laura Grier, who was on hand to make sure that every lovely memory was captured. This wedding is creating a lot of buzz around the office today because I can’t get over how well the traditional elements were fused with western elements.  It is simply perfection!

From the Bride : Although I wore a traditional western wedding gown, I had bridal mendhi so that I would still have the look of an Modern Indian bride.  Our ceremony was combined Hindu and Western so we were adorned with all the garlands, vara mala, sindoor, and tied together.  Since neither me nor Kris wore traditional Indian cloths, we were tied together by ribbons hanging off our garlands.

The ceremony was amazing. Both my parents and Kris' parents sat in the mandap with us. Our priest explained all the Hindu rituals in English and the performed the rituals in Sanskrit.  We had a seamless transition into a Western ceremony.  After the Hindu portion, the priest brought us up to the front of the mandap and we said our vows and exchanged rings.  He even made a joke about not being able to kiss the bride in Hindu ceremonies, but he let us do it anyway!

The more I look at this Indian fusion wedding, the harder I fall for it.  It is the combination of crisp clean lines, all done with a chic sense of California style. If you missed any of Part I of this wedding, you must click here and take a look. Nital and Kristopher were married at the Bel Air Bay Club, in Pacific Palisades, CA located on the famous Pacific Coast Highway.  This venue boasts breath-taking views and is the perfect blend of Hollywood glamour and luxury.

Kiss

From the Bride : We wanted our wedding to be modern but also be the perfect combination of an Indian wedding and a western wedding. I knew that incorporating Indian elements meant having bright colors but we wanted to be different so we decided  on vivid blues and greens rather than the traditional red and golds usually used in Gujarati weddings. Our mandap was very simple.  Since we had the ocean in the background, we wanted to keep it simple.  It was 4 dark wood posts draped with white fabric and crystals.
