Young & Akshay's love story began at a hospital where they worked together. What started as a friendship slowly blossomed into a romantic relationship as they spent more time together. The defining moment came during a dinner at Allora in Sacramento, where Akshay surprised Young by getting down on one knee and proposing, creating a memory she would cherish forever.
Planning their wedding in just three months, the couple carefully selected a team of vendors to bring their dream day to life. Every detail, from the picturesque Silverado Resort venue to Young's stunning lengha from Swati Couture, was thoughtfully chosen. Akshay went the extra mile, driving six hours round trip multiple times to ensure Young got her dream outfit. Despite the short timeline, the process was filled with love and teamwork.
The ceremony was significant with the inclusion of their children, symbolizing the blending of their two families. Although rain changed their plans for an outdoor ceremony, the Silverado Resort team and their wedding planner, Mita, effortlessly moved the event indoors, creating an unforgettable celebration. The beautiful Hindu rituals captivated the guests, many experiencing such a cultural event for the first time.
Young & Akshay added personal touches throughout the celebration, from handwritten notes for each guest to a surprise champagne tower pour at the reception. Guests loved the breathtaking scenery at Silverado Resort. They raved about the delicious food, but the couple's thoughtfulness and attention to detail made the day truly special for everyone.
Young advises future brides to savor the planning process and focus on celebrating their love rather than aiming for perfection. "Make the day yours," she shared, "It's about your love story, and that's what will make it unforgettable." It's these meaningful and personal touches that make a wedding truly unforgettable.
How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met my husband when we worked together at a hospital. We started as friends, and over time, our friendship naturally evolved into a romantic relationship. There wasn't a single 'aha' moment when I knew he was the one, but as I got to know him better, I found myself wanting to spend more and more time with him. It became clear that he was someone I wanted to build a future with.

My husband had been secretly planning to propose, and I had no idea what was coming. On the day of our engagement, we both had to work, but he suggested we go out for dinner afterward, saying he wanted to treat me for working so hard. We went to Allora in Sacramento, and as we were enjoying our meal, he suddenly got down on one knee with a ring. It was a complete surprise and such a special moment that I'll never forget.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We planned our wedding in just three months, carefully selecting our support team to make our day extraordinary. From the venue, photographer, décor, and wedding planner to the DJ, priest, hairstylist, makeup artist, cake designer, and wedding dress coordinator—everyone did an outstanding job. Their dedication truly made our special day unforgettable.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
We got my lengha from Swati Couture in the Bay Area, and I absolutely love it. My husband drove me to the place 6 hours round trip three times, but it was worth it. It's so beautiful that I wish I could wear it more than just on my wedding day—it's too stunning to keep in my closet! Swati was incredibly professional and friendly, making the whole experience even more special.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of the wedding planning process was collaborating with incredible people who wanted to make our day truly special. My husband was my biggest support throughout—taking on the roles of my mother, mother-in-law, sister, best friend, and, of course, my groom. Since we’re both from other countries, we leaned on each other for everything, making the experience even more meaningful.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Most of our guests were captivated by the beautiful scenery at the Silverado Resort, and many of them commented on how great the food was. Those who attended our wedding ceremony were especially impressed by the Hindu rituals, with many mentioning that it was truly a spectacular experience.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
In my opinion, our wedding was truly special because we invited our children to participate in the ceremony, symbolizing the merging of our two families. Additionally, everyone who attended played a significant role in our lives, making the day even more meaningful.
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
We’d like to thank the Silverado Resort and our wedding planner, Mita, for their incredible flexibility and support. Our original plan was to have an outdoor wedding, but due to rainy weather, we had to move everything indoors. Despite this last-minute change just two days before our wedding, they did a fabulous job, going above and beyond to make our dream come true.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Wedding planning can be stressful but try to savor the process. Focus on the joy of preparing for your big day rather than getting caught up in perfection. Make decisions that reflect who you and your partner are rather than trying to meet everyone’s expectations. Your wedding should feel authentically yours. Don’t hesitate to lean on family and friends who offer support. Sharing the load can make the process more enjoyable. Amid the planning, don’t forget to nurture your relationship. Set aside time to enjoy each other’s company, away from wedding discussions. Things might not go exactly as planned, and that’s okay. Embrace the unexpected, and remember that at the end of the day, it’s the love and commitment you share that matters most. On your wedding day, take a few moments to pause, take it all in, and enjoy the experience. The day will go by quickly, so allow yourself to be fully present. Ultimately, your wedding is about celebrating love and the beginning of a new chapter. Keep that at the forefront of your mind, and everything else will fall into place.

Having a different cultural background made understanding and planning an Indian wedding both stressful and exciting. Despite the challenges, I absolutely loved my Mehndi experience, especially the beautiful work by Ravi.
