Columbus, OH Indian Fusion Wedding by Emily Barbarita Photography

Good morning, Maharanis! Another lovely day is here with a new story to share with all of you. Our protagonists for this entry are Palak & Neel, a match made in heaven that will delight every single one of you with their romance! These sweethearts had a phenomenal celebration at the luxurious Crowne Plaza Columbus North-Worthington. There was a cheerful atmosphere at all times, thanks to DJ Samir Productions' tremendous skills. I am sure the attendants were enchanted by more than the ambiance. This couple had everything you could imagine!  From the live music, the Orchestra Saregama of Chicago finely performed to the delicious cake courtesy of Simply Rolled Ice Cream, every aspect of this wedding was a charm! And our couple got to enjoy it without a worry, trusting the B3 Event Management team of experts to bring all of it together and give everybody an unforgettable night. I adored so many things about this celebration, but my all-time favorite is our Maharani, Palak. Get ready to be dazzled, ladies, because she looked glorious!  Her attire's soft colors and the artistic makeup Formality by Tiffany did for her are flawless. Palak was a ray of sunshine the whole time! And the charming groom, Neel, was the night in shining armor we all read about in every fairytale with his polished clothing and natural enchantment. Our couple was definitely the main event thought the day. None of their loved ones will ever let go of the perfect frame Palak and Neel created on this splendid summer day.  Regardless, Emily Barbarita Photography ensured this by taking incredible pictures of the event to enjoy whenever they please and keep their special day intact eternally.  We have this magnificent gallery ready to give you some inspiration. Go for it, dears!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
It was love at first sight! We met 11 years ago at garba and couldn’t help ourselves from introducing each other.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Neel proposed to me in a gazebo by the lake around sunset! It was absolutely breathtaking. Our family was able to join us after the proposal as well.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Our vendors were amazing, we were incredibly lucky that many of them were accommodating especially with COVID.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I knew I wanted a traditional red outfit for the wedding and something more modern for the reception. I bought both pieces at Asopalav and had a wonderful experience there!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The time you spend with your family is priceless.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Everyone loved the decor, they felt they were transported to a fairytale! The other key highlight is we had fresh rolled ice cream.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
I love our first-look before the wedding. Neel and I were able to share our vows with each other privately before the full ceremony.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Don't get too wrapped up in things that could go wrong and enjoy every second of the events, it goes by fast!

I hope you loved this story as much as I did. Keep coming back for more!

Albany, NY Indian Fusion Wedding by Studio KSD

Happy Wednesday, Maharanis! The filmy day of the week has finally arrived, and I am excited to give you an insight into Shabeen & Asad's gorgeous wedding day. These lovebirds had an unmatchable celebration at the lavishing The Desmond Hotel Albany. The luxury and elegance of this venue captured our couples' attention from day one, making it the perfect place to start a new chapter in their lives. Complemented with Abhishek Decorators' unblemished decor, the guests were surrounded by romance at all times. Our couples' choice of color palette was rich and unique, going for deep and solid colors for their reception and a more traditional white for the ceremony. The marvelous bride, Shabeen, was styled by the proficient Karuna Chani KC Makeup with some smooth and artistic makeup and gorgeous coiffure. Laila Budhwani was in charge of Shabeen's mehndi, and it was everything she could wish for! Her divine reception attire from Elan Atlanta is one of my favorite details from this celebration. It is stunning, Maharanis. You cannot miss it! During the ceremony, Shabeen dazed with a lovely wedding dress from Zuria Dor, enchanting her soulmate once again. And Asad looked dapper, too, with his elegant garments from Suit Supply. They were a match made in heaven, and all the attendants could agree! Of course, our couple had more than looks to offer their guests; they had Cake Street Sweets' tasty creations to delight everyone's palate and a vivid atmosphere courtesy of Premier DJ Usa PSAV. The whole event was immortalized by Studio KSD's team of accomplished professionals. The cinematography is breathtaking! We have the brilliant video available for you, dears. Just click on the play button below and get your boost of inspiration!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

Asad and I met seven years ago in New York through a mutual friend. I was actually considering leaving New York at the time so I wasn't interested in getting into a serious relationship. About a year into us dating and I received a job offer in Chicago. I assumed we would end things knowing that long-distance is incredibly challenging but his overwhelming support of my career, the opportunity in front of me, and his prioritization of what I wanted to do was one of the first times I realized how special our relationship was. There was never one single moment in which I "knew he was the one." The next six years of dating (including three years of long-distance!) were a culmination of little moments full of love, support, and growth and both of us decided to choose happiness with each other.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!

The day we got engaged was one of the funniest days of our relationship. We decided to visit the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens since neither of us have ever seen the cherry blossoms in NYC. When we got there the ticket collector claimed we had 3 tickets but there were only 2 of us there. Asad is a pretty calm person so he made me move on quickly (I was getting ready to call our bank about being overcharged!). We started walking through the gardens and stopped in the lavender fields. Asad asked what I thought was a stranger taking a picture of us with our polaroid camera. (Side note: he had gotten very obsessed with polaroid cameras the week before and insisted we bring the polaroid camera to the gardens). It was there that he proposed and to this day, I'm pretty sure I never even said yes to his question as all I could get out of my mouth was "Oh my god!" Everyone around us started cheering and it turned out we were in fact a group of three because that stranger he asked to take a photo of us was actually a photographer he had hired for the day. We then spent the day doing a beautiful photoshoot around the gardens. Our families surprised us later by decorating our apartment and taking us out to dinner that evening. I've never smiled and laughed so much in one day.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

It takes a village to plan an Indian wedding! With five events on the agenda, a pandemic that wasn't going anywhere, and two huge loving families wanting to be involved in the planning process, we knew we had our work cut out for us. Having an older sister and lots of girl cousins who had planned their own weddings before I was a great place for me to start my planning process. We began our venue search in Albany, NY since Asad's family lives there. We thought it would be easier and more Covid-friendly to space our guests out upstate instead of in New York City. With that in mind, we tried to utilize a mix of local Albany and New York City vendors. Finding vendors who could help us design and execute a vision wasn't easy, but once we found the right teams to coordinate with, everything fell seamlessly into place. Asad and I trusted our vendors to let them do what they do best which is why I think everything turned out incredibly.

Special thank you to all the vendors who gave us the wedding of our dreams: Crowne Plaza Albany Desmond Hotel, Studio KSD Photo & Cinema, Abhishek Decorators, DJ Ambition of Premier Entertainment, Moghul Catering, Mazadar Mediterranean Kitchen, Parivar Food & Spices, Karuna Chani Makeup, Henna by Laila Budhwani, Brides by Sabaa, Custom Garlands BK by Amara, The Paanwaala, Zuria Dor, Elan Atlanta, Aainaa Fashion, Suit Supply, JinaShili by Shili, Crossover Bollywood Se, SKB Sweets, and CakeStreet Sweets.

How did you select your bridal Lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

I've always loved the idea of having a traditional Indian wedding. I felt it was powerful to partake in the traditions that millions of Indian brides before me had experienced. While I didn't have a specific color in mind for my Nikah or Reception outfits, I assumed I would wear red for one of my wedding events. What would end up happening was way out of my control! Travel and in-store bridal appointments were limited because of Covid so I took to Instagram for inspiration. I stumbled across the gorgeous blue-green Maera bridal saree from Pakistani designer, Zuria Dor, and as much as I tried to look at other options, I couldn't get that stunning piece out of my head. My Nikah saree was the first outfit I picked (out of 5 events) so I figured I would wear red for my Reception. I looked for months for something special and tried on every shade of red I could find but nothing spoke to me. It wasn't until my mother-in-law and I discovered that gold, stone-studded bridal Lengha from Elan in Atlanta that I knew I had found my Reception outfit. I may not have ended up not wearing red for any of my Wedding events but tradition is even more fun when you get to make it your own!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?

We went the extra mile to make sure our guests had a memorable and enjoyable weekend celebrating us and we're so grateful they could share in our love. We heard many compliments ranging from the amazing food (thank you Moghul Catering!) to the stunning decor (thank you Abhishek Decorators!) and all the details in between. There was a lot to be happy about that weekend and we loved that our wedding could bring everyone together (cheers for having a covid-free wedding!). Our favorite compliment has to be everyone telling us how happy we looked like a bride and groom. We were overjoyed to be tying the knot and I love that everyone could see the joy on our faces and feel our excitement in the room.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

Walking down the aisle with my older brother on my arm and my husband tearing up in front of all of our loved ones is a memory that constantly replays in my mind. I walked out to Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling In Love" played by our incredible string quartet (thank you Hudson String Quartet!). We practiced walking down the aisle in our living room that week but no amount of practice can prepare you for how emotional and remarkable that moment will be! Locking eyes with my husband during that song is a memory I'll cherish forever. The room was full of friends and family but Asad was the only one I could see.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

I decided on a color scheme early on for each of the five wedding events. That helped guide our decor and outfit selections from the start. Both of our families love to dance so we knew the Sangeet night would be a night to remember. My amazing siblings, cousins, and friends blew me away on the night of the Sangeet (including a surprise dance - thanks Nitin and Mun!). Asad's family, cousins, and aunts all had incredible dance performances and his immediate family even pulled me into one which was so sweet and welcoming. Since we got married on Halloween weekend, we decided to set up a Halloween table full of treats and games at the Reception for the kids forced to attend our wedding. It was the least we could do for taking Halloween weekend away from them! We made it a point to spend as much time as possible with our guests and our vendors because we really wouldn't have had as magical of a wedding weekend without the people in that room.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?

Plan for all the big and small details until you're exhausted and right before your events start, let it all go so you can focus on the person you're going to marry. When something goes wrong (and it inevitably will), remind yourself how lucky you are to be surrounded by people willing to help and support you. Take pauses to soak in every moment you can because I promise, all you will really remember is how happy you felt looking at your person. P.S. Try not to sweat the small stuff - no one really cares what shade of white your tablecloths are!

I hope you are feeling inspired, ladies. I'll you soon with more romance!

These lovebirds had a day full of joy at the Hilton Easton for their ceremony and reception, surrounded by their loved ones and the vivid ambiance Crown Entertainment provided throughout every festivity. Our couple's fashion choices were flawless with a splendid mix of lively colors that made Prianka's eyes shine with life and love. The enchanting bride complemented her attire with the graceful mehndi Henna by Sangeeta did for her; what a clever artist she is! Our Maharani was all about details, not only because of the intricate patterns on her skin but also the carefully crafted scheme Blissful Events Rajul Pillai planned for her wedding day. Queens, NY Indian Fusion Wedding by Virdee Films Photo & Cinema

Hello Maharanis! Friday has arrived with a romantic story starring Alana & Kevin. Our charming couple had an intimate ceremony at home, followed by a grand reception to celebrate with their loved ones at the Starlight Pavilion. This location has a particular shine to it, alluring all visitors with spacious and elegant areas, flawless to commemorate special occasions. This luxurious venue served as the lovebirds' paradise on earth while they relished in the warm summer sun surrounded by friends and family. The party went on with the beautiful couple glowing as they started a new chapter in their lives. The adoration and devotion Alana & Kevin have for each other are crystal clear for everyone to see! Their love is like no other, and neither were their stylish attires. Combining traditions from two different backgrounds, our Maharani was a wonder with her marvelous lengha. Alana also dazzled all her guests with a divine white dress for the event. She was a queen from head to toes, glistening alongside her soulmate. The handsome groom didn't stay behind with his polished tuxedo. Together, they were the golden couple of New York! Their enthralling wedding day was a memorable event that no one will let go of for years to come. How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met while he was out with his friend who at the time was dating my friend! We were both NOT looking for relationships but as we got to know each other more, the world had different plans for us! Hmmm…I knew he was the one when basically my whole world was against me and he  said he didn’t care, he stayed by my side through each battle near and far from the beginning and that’s when I knew.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
He took me on a Soca cruise around NYC and as we took a romantic (SUPER LONG) walk on the pier, we made the corner and all of my closest family, friends and pup were there to watch him get down on one knee whilst holding will you marry me signs!! If that wasn’t enough, when we got back to my house, my backyard was set up by my mom, my big sister and my best friend with pictures of us everywhere, cake and our closest family members! It was really special to me.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We were one of those “COVID” couples who had to reorganize, postpone, and basically replan our entire wedding. We decided to have an intimate Muslim ceremony in 2020 and continued to plan to our bigger even ration for 2021. As an Indo-Caribbean Dancer in the community and my husband, who provides special effects for events we were lucky to work with a lot of our friends who are AMAZING vendors! Planning the smaller details was actually the easiest part! *we were lucky in that aspect*

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I really wasn’t too picky about our bridal outfits which sounds kind of crazy lol! However, my husband was and he wanted to incorporate blue and white. Of course I wanted just a tad bit of red to be a traditional Hindu bride for our families so one of our very best friends from Bolly Couture custom designed our RED WHITE AND BLUE coordinated bridal outfits to fit perfectly with our 4th of July Wedding Weekend!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part about planning was probably listening to husband. LOL, weird right? I say this because planning our entire wedding ourselves, to having it canceled to postponing to changing the dates to making sure vendors were available, etc..it becomes pretty overwhelming added with the stress of our everyday lives. My husband was so good at making sure we kept our cool and basically taking over when I was OVER it for lack of better words! It definitely made us stronger as a couple!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Oh man, I can definitely say our food and our photography/videography. Those were two things we were VERY specific about. We are MAJOR foodies of every culture and we LOVE having pictures and videos for memories. I think our guests were happy with both of those categories throughout all 5 days of events! We had the most amazing food which we catered from our favorite restaurants as well as family cooked home style and we had the best photography and videography team for all of our events (ADESIGNPHOTOGRAPHY & VIRDEE FILMS!)

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
A special moment that replays for me isn’t really ONE moment but a set of moments where I’d be watching my husband enjoy all the hard work we put into our wedding. It 100% takes a village to successfully celebrate and pull off a 5 day postponed Hindu wedding but none of it would have possible without my husband taking initiative and physically making things happen. He told me the same about me when we spoke about what we remember most!

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Decor for everyday other than the Hindu Wedding Ceremony and our Reception were 100% done by us! I drew out what I wanted and we built backdrops, packaged all the small things, ordered like everything on Amazon and got some decor from our friends, got on our ladders, our hands and knees, and brought my vision to life! Our Hindu Wedding decor was done by Royal Touch Design and our Reception Decor was done by Floral Explosions! Both located in Richmond Hill, Queens. As a dancer who performs for multiple Indian wedding events I really didn’t want it to be about ME and my dancing. I wanted this long awaited celebration to be about people celebrating the love between Kevin and I. However, we had a small mehendi night item that I did with my bridesmaids and fun bridal party performance at our reception choreographed by me. It was more for fun than anything else!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Please please please do NOT stress the day of so assign small tasks to your bridal party or family members! We were so keen on not bothering anyone and doing everything ourselves (which was a little bit of a mistake on our part) but all of it ended up coming out pretty good LOL. However a few stressful moments on the wedding days could’ve been avoided! That’s my honest and best advice!

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
For venues, we kept it very intimate and celebrated every event besides our reception in my husband’s childhood home backyard! We like to CELEBRATE and be happy on occasions like this (aka our family likes to party nonstop) so we felt it right to keep it at home! Our music, sound set up, special effects for everyday were provided by our families and probably bias to say but the best, Revel Event Productions, 113 Sound Crew, & Euphoria Vibes. My family and I had our mehendi done by none other than my friend Yukti Grover. My Jewlery by Kirni Designs. Mehendi Night Hair/Makeup done by my other good friend, MakeupByVani. My Hindu Wedding Ceremony Hair/Makeup by BeautyByTamanna and Reception Hair/Makeup SassyHairbyVanessa and Kim K Sharma. ALL of our outfits were by the amazing BollyCouture.

I hope you are feeling imaginative, queens. I'll see you tomorrow with another happily ever after!
