Fairfax Station, VA Sikh Wedding by Catch Motion Photography

Happy Friday, ladies! We can't think of a better way to get to the weekend than taking a look at Joyti & Sonny's wedding festivities. So, without further ado, let's jump right into it! The couple’s wedding festivities kicked off with a colorful and vibrant Mehndi that we are sure you are going to love as it was beautiful beyond words! This pre-wedding ceremony was full of extravagance, Indian flair, vibrant colors, and lots of fun! And we are so glad Catch Motion Photography has taken us along for the ride through their fantastic shots! SW Events designed this pre-wedding event to perfection while Yaadein Weddings followed their lead, creating a minimalist but lovely decor featuring multicolored hues that everyone loved. Although everything was captivating, it was Joyti who stole all the looks dressed in purple lengha with golden embroidery after being glamorized by Sonia Iqbal. Without any question, this was the best way to kick off with the wedding festivities! See all the details of this Mehndi at the gallery that we have prepared for today! And if you want a little extra, you can take a look at the blockbuster film by The Wedding Cartel already featured in our Video Blog!

Coral Springs, FL Indian Fusion Wedding by Lara Rose Photography

Hello, Maharanis! We are so happy you could make it to Anisha & Kevin's reception party. By now, we can all agree that this love story has exceeded all expectations, and the reception party held at the Fort Lauderdale Marriott Coral Springs Hotel Golf Club & Convention Center is no exception! So let's jump right into it! Right of the bat, we have to say that this gala was off the charts thanks to the fantastic conceptualization and design done by Tewari Productions. And we are also impressed by the on-point decor, and the scheme of lights Anand Event Services put together for this closing event. To turn this gala into a party, DJ Varun Tewari played the most vibrant Bollywood hits to set the dance floor on fire! All the guests had a great time while dancing and tasting the delicious food prepared by Tanjore right before having a bite at the sweet cake baked by Eddas Cake Designs. And we want to make a special shoutout to South Florida wedding photographer, Lara Rose Photography for the fantastic shots captured, as it is thanks to those shots that we get to relive this fabulous love story. If you were captivated by the beauty and charm surrounding this magical story, and you want to get more details of this celebration, don't miss the gallery that we have prepared for today! How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Kevin and I met each other in 2009 during our freshman year at Penn State University. We were introduced through one of our good friends. The next thing we knew, we were spending almost every day together, scheduling classes together, going to football games, study dates on the weekends and eventually we became best friends. He asked me out in 2013 and we were in a long distance relationship until I finally moved in with him in 2018! I don't really feel like there was one defining moment where I knew for sure that I was in love with Kevin. It's been just a multitude of things/moments that made me sure of my feelings for Kev. Even though we've had our fair share of struggles, our relationship has always felt easy for me because Kevin has always put me first in his life and made me a priority. He has always made me feel like I can be my silly self around him 24/7! He has been the most supportive partner I could have asked for and he was my best cheerleader during Physician Assistant school. He made me feel that I could grow into my own person and yet still be with him and that made me fall in love with him more and more each day. It's easy to give up in a long distance relationship but his constant effort to keep communication up and count down days till we next saw each other made me so happy and loved. Most of all, he makes it a point to be close to my family which has always been so important to me. The respect and care he gives to my parents and brother is so nice to see and I know my family loves him for that. Saying goodbye to him when we graduated Penn State (when we were still just friends) was probably the hardest thing I have ever had to do and knowing that I would probably never see him again was when I was so sure I wanted to be with him always. He was and is my best friend and I couldn't picture life without him.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
I was still in PA school at the time in Oakland, California so I went to visit him in San Diego on a weekend. Our first date was at Sunset Cliffs in San Diego and on Friday the 13th (4/13/17) he wanted to take me back to Sunset Cliffs for a date. We started the day off by going to his work together. He was beyond nervous and was pacing back and forth in his office. I asked him what was wrong and he attributed it to the meeting he was going to have with his boss later that afternoon (I totally believed him!!). Later that evening, we packed up some snacks in his backpack and headed over to Sunset Cliffs. We strolled the spot hand in hand waiting for the sunset. He told me I was beautiful and the best friend he could've hoped for. He asked me if I wanted to have a snack while we waited for the sun to go down and I said yes! So he got behind me, took his back pack off and he called out my name. I turned around and he was on one knee asking me to marry him. I was so emotionally overwhelmed and felt paralyzed at that moment. I said yes and it was by far the best decision of my life.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I did quite a bit of research for my bridal lehenga and my wedding dress. I had saved tons of ideas on a pinterest board and instagram. I ended up getting my bridal lehenga from "Pooja Sarees" in Ambala. As for the white dress, I had picked out a few options online but I went into "Luv Bridal" in San Diego knowing the one dress I absolutely had to try on. Of course as soon as I tried it on, I fell in love with it.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
I always knew I wanted to go back to India to hand pick all my outfits, jewelry, etc. Going with my mother just made it that much more special. She played such a great role in helping me pick out everything from my bridal lehenga, the jewelry, bridal heels, to my mehendi and haldi outfits. She made planning more emotional than I thought it would be and it gave us a chance to spend a little extra time together before I got married

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The Mehendi was hosted at my parents house two days before the wedding. I sat down next to my mehendi artist with my arms out, my family was playing "Mehendi Hai Rachne Wali" from the movie Zubeida and the next thing I knew tears were rolling down my face. Getting the mehendi on my hands felt so symbolic of the beautiful stage of my life that I was about to embark on. The other extremely memorable moment for me was being escorted by my four brothers to the mandap during the Hindu ceremony surrounded by all our family and friends. Kevin and I looked at each other and we were so ready to start the rest of our lives together.

Enjoy the rest of your day, ladies! See you tomorrow!

So, get ready to enjoy this fantastic reception party hosted at the Hard Rock Riviera Maya! Once again, Indian Destination Weddings showed why they are famous for being the best ally when planning an International Destination Wedding in Mexico as their work is absolutely amazing! How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Ronak and I met my freshman year of college at a dance competition we hosted at UT Austin. We randomly kept in touch as friends for several years after that and met up again in Chicago when I went to visit some friends in 2014. We talked nonstop after that and officially started dating a few months later. We did long distance for about 2.5 years before we both moved to Philadelphia to finally be closer to each other!

I'm not sure if there was an exact moment in time that I knew Ronak was "the one", but I knew pretty early on that he was someone I could see myself spending the rest of my life with. :)

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Ronak proposed on Friday, October 5th, 2018 at a gazebo behind the Philadelphia Museum of Art. I arrived thinking I was just attending a 'Yelp Elite' wine tasting event with my soon-to-be sister-in-law and another friend. When we arrived at the top of the hill and started walking towards the gazebo I saw Ronak standing in the middle of it, suited up and looking as handsome as ever. :) I immediately started to cry (lol) and he held out his hand and asked me to dance (he had 'Thinking Out Loud' playing on his phone in his pocket haha). He said a bunch of sweet things that I can honestly hardly remember but before I knew it, he was down on one knee asking me to marry him! Then both of our families came and surprised me, and we all went to dinner together. Just when I thought the night couldn't get any better, Ronak pulled off one final surprise by throwing a huge party with all our closest friends at the rooftop of his apartment building. It was truly one of the most perfect days! :)

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We started off venue shopping in Texas last year (where I'm from and where my parents live), thinking that's where we'd be hosting the wedding. After spending an entire weekend looking at venues and hotels that all looked the same, I came back to Philly and complained to Ronak that I didn't find one I loved. He threw out the idea of doing a destination wedding, and I laughed and said our parents would probably never agree to that. Long story short, they agreed and we decided on a destination wedding in Mexico, and it was honestly one of the best decisions we made!

Besides working with Ateet Ahuja from Indian Destination Weddings to help our guests get booked, I decided to do all the planning myself. I'll admit it was very hard at times since the majority, if not all, of the planning was done via email since we weren't able to go meet our vendors in person. But honestly all the vendors there are great to work with, and so understanding of what we need for an Indian wedding. Here's who we worked with for everything:

Travel Concierge: Indian Destination Weddings

Venue: Hard Rock Riviera Maya

Decor: Latin Asia
Florist: Tulipania
Food: Hard Rock Riviera Maya
Hair/MUA: Alex Corbanezi Beauty & Co.
Photo/video: Sarani Weddings
DJ: Dhoom Events - DJ Milin Jani
Audio/video equipment: PSAV Mexico
Entertainment:
Producciones Arteum - salsa lesson for our Welcome Fiesta and live saxophonist for the cocktail hour

Drums in Paradise - dhol player and vintage car for the baraat

Pyrotech - cold fireworks for the reception

Quiroo photobooth - photobooth at the cocktail hour and reception

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I didn't really have a clear cut vision of what I wanted, but I'm so glad I took the time to try on a variety of styles because I really didn't like some of the styles that I thought I'd love. I went home to Houston one weekend to get some shopping done, and after looking up and down every store on Hilcroft and not finding anything, we decided to check out Panache by Sharmeen, as I'd heard great things about her and her selection. We originally went to look for reception outfits there, but my sister came across this beautiful red lehenga. She made me try it on and we all fell in love with it! Sharmeen worked with me on making a custom blouse for it since I knew I wanted to have emerald green, and we also custom made the dupatta's I wore. I love how it all turned out and Sharmeen was great to work with!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Probably selecting the decor details and then seeing it all come together towards the end! And of course having the weekend go as smoothly and flawlessly as possible, and hearing our guests tell us how much they enjoyed everything was just the cherry on top :)

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
From what we've heard, everyone really loved and appreciated the uniqueness of the destination wedding. I know they're getting increasingly popular these days but the majority of our guests had never attended one, and everyone just loved how our wedding also served as a mini-vacation for them!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
It truly went by in the blink of an eye, but seeing Ronak on our wedding morning for our first look photos is a moment I'll never forget. :)

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Check out my wedding highlights on my Instagram page for all the deets :)

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Enjoy the process! Wedding planning isn't always the most fun, but it pays off and will truly be the most memorable time in your life! Also, try on different styles of outfits before committing to one! Everything always looks better on Pinterest, but you may not always love how it looks on yourself. :)

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
Check out my wedding highlights on my Instagram page for all the deets :)

That is all for today, darlings! See you tomorrow for more!
