Welcome back Maharanis! Today we celebrate the sleek and modern Indian wedding of Puja and Vinit and believe us when we say this creative bash is one for the books! After all, Vinit proposed to Puja in front of a castle, so their resulting wedding had to be nothing short of a fairytale! Kaya Creations glammed the bride out into total royalty with bold red lips, gold lidded eyes and dewy skin. Add in a burgundy brocade gown and queen like jewels, and you have one breathtaking bride. With Urvashi Mishra, Wedding & Event Planner in charge of planning and design and Wedding Design as the decor masterminds, the indoor ballroom of the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown was blessed with a magnificent ceremony setup that incorporated a plethora of fresh white blooms, glimmering chandeliers, and dreamy wisteria garlands. Utter romance! Guests were transported to a paradise as soon as they entered the spacious quarters, and there wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Puja and Vinit were reunited under the glam mandap and took their sacred vows as husband and wife. But trust us, the party was just getting started! When we return, we’ll dive into the newlyweds’ vivacious reception bash, which was another ultra luxurious affair mixed in with the deep roots of Bollywood. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Indian Wedding By A & A Photo & Video

Morning lovelies! Puja and Vinit’s love journey began in college when Puja would often visit Vinit’s dorm to see her childhood friends. Vinit was in awe of her beauty, and would frequently ask Puja’s friends to put in a good word for him. Eventually he mustered up the courage to just approach her himself to say hello, but Puja was too occupied with balancing her responsibilities as Class President, landing her dream job at the White House, and maintaining her social calendar that a new friendship was the last thing on her mind. However, everything changed when the two carpooled together to a mutual friend’s party. Puja was really impressed by Vinit's confidence, but more importantly his dreamy hazel eyes. The rest is history! To celebrate their epic love story, they enlisted Urvashi Mishra, Wedding & Event Planner to throw the ultimate fairy-tale wedding with tons of glitter and glam. To kick off the celebrations, they had a rainbow hued sangeet dazzled up with all sorts of lux golden accessories. Puja was a breathtaking beauty in pristine hair and makeup by Kaya Creations and a mod pink and floral lehenga. This event was a visual treat and foreshadowed the decadence and style to come at their ceremony and reception events at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown. Hurry back for so much food (courtesy of Sukhadia Caterers) and fun (courtesy of the DJ from Volcanik and the live music from Medley Entertainment). While you wait, enjoy the full gallery of gorg snaps by A & A Photo & Video!

New Orleans, LA Indian Wedding by Amanda Hodges Weir Photography

Happy Wednesday Maharanis! We’re going to make you go gaga with Mahitha and Pavan’s sensational reception shindig at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans. The gorgeous bride told us, Pavan and I met in the Caribbean while we went to med school in Dominica, and then he proposed to me on the island of Maui in Hawaii. Because of that, it was my dream to have a destination wedding on an island. However, our families really wanted to have a domestic wedding so it would be easier for our guests. So instead, I decided to make the theme of wedding tropical. I knew I wanted palm leaves and pineapples to be part of the decor!” They assembled the perfect team to pull off their vision. The Storybook Event orchestrated this splendid event in collaboration with the floral and decor team from Rao Factor. Together they showed us that tropical blooms, twinkling fairy lights, and soft uplighting creates the most mesmerizing ambiance ever. The tablescapes featured magnificent candelabras, floating candles, and blooms, and together with the multicolored luminescence, it was sheer decadence. DJ Desi Junction ensured a packed dance floor with the DJ doing what he does best. From the pictures of the dance floor, it seems like the crowd went delirious and we cannot wait to catch the live action film by Dyle Films. This soiree was photographed by Amanda Hodges Weir Photography, and you can enjoy all the pics in our full gallery! And make sure to scroll below and read our exclusive interview with Maharani Mahitha.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?

This was written from the perspective of my husband: “Our story began on the tiny majestic island of Dominica. As eager medical students, we were both new to the island and ready to drown in our textbooks. We were both in line in a coffee shop on a hot sunny day. Mahitha, being practical, ordered an iced praline coffee. I, on the other hand, ordered a scalding hot double espresso for the infernal temperatures outside. She immediately questioned my choice of beverage. Lucky she did, because we started talking from there. I learned that she was homesick and missing her best friends and family. She learned that I was constantly hungry and always looking for food. After talking for a few weeks, I finally mustered the courage to ask her out on a date. We went to a seafood dinner on the beach to watch the beautiful sunset. At that moment, I knew there was something special between us.”

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

Over Facetime! Being in my first year of residency, it was really hard to find time to go to India to go shopping for my wedding clothes. So my parents went to India instead of me. My mom went to numerous stores in Hyderabad, India; however, no-one would let her take pictures. So I would wake up at 5 AM to my mom Facetiming me from stores. The quality of our Facetime was so awful so in the end I picked my outfits via blurry images of on Facetime and with the help of my mom and grandma's good taste. It worked out really well. I loved all my outfits!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?

The non-stop dancing! DJ Chani was an excellent DJ and dhol player. He kept the tempo for all of the events. We danced late into the night both Friday and Saturday night. Not only that, we had very energetic friends and family so the whole weekend just felt like one big dance party. Although, I didn't get to see it live, I know Pavan's favorite part about the weekend was the Baraat. He danced his way into the ceremony Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?

At the end of the Reception around 1 AM, our closest friends were still dancing the night away. When the last song played, all of our friends gathered around Pavan and me, and joined in a massive group hug encircling us. The love we felt in that moment was truly amazing.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.

So sweet! Have a wonderful day lovelies!

New Orleans, LA Indian Wedding by Amanda Hodges Weir Photography

We’re head over heels for Mahitha and Pavan’s ceremony at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans. Each capture by Amanda Hodges Weir Photography was bursting with vibrancy and romance. This wedding featured one of our very favorite mandaps to date, a domed, gazebo esque creation festooned with tropical blooms and fairy lights. We’re swooning! Kudos to the floral and decor aficionados from Rao Factor and planning mavens from The Storybook Event for whipping up such marvelous ambiance. The rest of the spacious quarters were doused in rose petals, tantalizing floral arrangements, and dreamy uplighting. Pavan kicked off his crazy baraat that was definitely a highlight of the weekend. The most fabulous moment had to be when Mahitha made her graceful entrance to the ceremony space in a beige, fuchsia, and orange sari (accessorized with a fab golden belt!), with dreamy hair and makeup styling by Flawless Bride. To say that we are obsessing over the details of this ceremony would be an understatement. We simply can’t wait to watch all the live footage lovingly captured by Dyle Films. In the meantime, we’ve created a gallery of snaps by Amanda Hodges Weir Photography for your perusal pleasure!
