Monterey, CA, Indian Wedding by Matei Horvath Photography

There are so many details of Neha and Nivek’s special day that were absolutely cherished. From a bustling baraat ceremony with Nivek perched on a majestic horse from Vintage Carriage Company, the first look, and a charming outdoor venue setup by Flor de Monterey; every element of this South Asian Indian wedding was full of fabulous flair. The bride and groom took advantage of great California weather and wed under a mandap that showcased the beauty of the outdoors at the Hyatt Regency Monterey Hotel and Spa on Del Monte Golf Course. Paul Ortiz Films captured all the events in this gorgeous highlight with Matei Horvath Photography snapping away and capturing all the whimsical moments that you can find in our gallery.

Monterey, CA, Indian Wedding by Matei Horvath Photography

Today’s gorgeously captured Indian wedding out of Northern California will have you dreaming of sunny skies and sandy beaches. We love getting to know our brides through our Q&A sessions with them and Maharani Neha has left a lasting impression in our hearts. We love all treasured moments of the bride getting ready, but for Neha, this part of her wedding process was extra special. “It was really important for me to wear my mother's antique naath for the wedding ceremony. My grandmother, who had passed away many years ago, had it made. My mother wore it for her wedding, and ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to wear it for my wedding. Wearing the naath that day made me feel as if my Nani was there by our side, showering her blessings upon us! I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to wear it.” Excuse me while I wipe away my tears and get ready for the upcoming ceremony. Paul Ortiz Films, known for creating visual masterpieces, filled in for the master cinematographer of the event. You can find the visual gem of this wedding in our feature here! Behind the lens capturing each sunny shot was Matei Horvath Photography with the images in full that you can find in our gallery.

We sat down to ask Neha all about her big day, and here are excerpts from our talk:

How did you meet your Raja and when did you know he was "the one"?

After I graduated law school and started working, I had a strong impulse to move to San Diego, CA. However, circumstances led me to choose staying in the Bay Area. In my late twenties, a desire to live life to the fullest lead me to follow my heart and make the move to beautiful San Diego. Nivek, on the other hand, left behind the rigours of residency and Manhattan winters for a one year regional anesthesia fellowship at UCSD. Never would we both have thought that we’d look back one day and say, “Thank you Match.com.”  A few weeks of exchanging messages and texts lead to a first date, which ended up being our “last first date” ever. When I met Nivek I realized that he was the reason that I was so drawn to move to San Diego.

How did you choose your lengha or lenghas? Did you work with a certain designer? Did you spend hours on the internet first?
I wanted my wedding lengha and reception outfit to be different, and looked to Instagram to research the styles of different designers!  Thankfully, I found Well Groomed, Inc., who did a great job customizing both my outfits! My wedding lengha is inspired by the designer Tarun Tahiliani. I love how his designs blend a variety of colors together in such an intricate fashion. My reception saree-gown was inspired by the designer Gaurav Gupta. His designs caught my eye because they manage to fuse Indian intricacies with a western twist, while maintaining an overall elegant appeal.
Looking back, was there a really special moment that you remember from your wedding that stands out as the most magical?
It's hard to choose!! Definitely when we recited the vows we wrote for each other after we took our saat pheere are moments that Nivek and I will cherish.

Make sure you return for the impressive baraat ceremony led by Vintage Carriage Company that we have coming right up! See you in a twinkle.

Redwood City Indian Wedding by Sameer Soorma Studios

The last event of Maharani Swati’s celebration included a gorgeous venue overlooking sparkling waters, radiant bridal garba and of course, one dapper Maharaja. Mitasha Singh of M Sutra Bride showed up for her last day as beauty squad extraordinaire and transformed the bride into a regal queen. The bride opted to share her big day with her bridesmaids with each of them donning the same hued coral saris with gold offsets. The bride’s mehndi by Kamala’s Henna World was a striking contrast against this vivacious color! The indoor ballroom of the Pullman San Francisco Bay Hotel was bathed in luxurious lighting from DJ Tanveer. Pair that with specialized screening from Jhakaas Entertainment and you have one rocking party! Under the creative direction of Noreen Tariq of Aesthetika the spacious quarters was covered in charming floral and a sweeping sweetheart stage. Guests dined on cuisine from Sakoon Fremont and yummy treats baked by Cake Expressions. Sameer Soorma Studios has truly captured the elegance of Swati’s big day in our amazing gallery.

Weddings at the Pullman San Francisco Bay are nothing short of extraordinary with breathtaking views of tranquil lagoons and a refreshing ambiance like environment. When Swati and Prean secured the location for both their wedding and reception, they knew they were in for the ultimate, royal treat. After being dolled up by Mitasha Singh of M Sutra Bride, Swati was ready for her stroll down her floral covered pathway in her outdoor Indian wedding ceremony. Some of the special touches added to the ceremony that we absolutely adored were the custom made wedding leaflet from Indian Wedding Card, breathtaking florals by Noreen Tariq of Aesthetika and the bustling beats from a dhol by Mehul Mistry of Jhakaas Entertainment, LLC. Every step of the way the stellar team of Sameer Soorma Studios was there to capture this bride’s every move in both live form and with all the stills that you can find in the gallery.

Redwood City Indian Wedding by Sameer Soorma Studios

Swati and Prean’s relationship endured miles of separation yet that didn’t stop the star crossed lovers to eventually seal their love in an auspicious wedding occasion hailing from Northern California. The couple hired on Moniti Mehta to helm all planning and design duties and once all the details were perfectly set in place, the wedding weekend finally arrived. It comes by in a flash, right? Swati started the morning of her big day with her lovely ladies and a round of mimosas. Mitasha Singh of M-Sutra Bride joined the ladies to add all the finish beauty touches. Gold rimmed eyes and fluttering eyelashes with just the right amount of pop on the lips was the perfect look! The bride’s multifaceted lengha was a celebration of rich colors that was gorgeously paired with striking gold jewelry. The combination of accessories and bridal wear left a regal impression on us! All these cherished moments were caught on video by Sameer Soorma Studios who has also curated the gallery for your perusal.
