The party blasted off to a whole new stratosphere of fun when Kiran and Travis’ spectacular reception shindig at The Meadow Club began! The couple bounded into the grand reception to cheers from their adoring guests. The venue was an elegant masterpiece, filled with whimsical yet lux touches by Towers Flowers, Divine Stylz, and Malkmes Florists that made the ambiance warm and romantic. This talented couple immediately put on their dancing shoes and performed a lovely first dance that had the crowd going wild. After a toast, vibrant program, and savory bites, the couple was raring to let loose! This adorable duo LOVE to dance, and Veer Entertainment led the charge with euphoric beats, with the couple requesting an eclectic mix of tunes. We want to get up and sashay out of our chair after viewing these pics. We’re so thrilled that these two had such an incredible celebration worthy of their epic love story! The couple told us, “God put us in each other's paths, and through all of our trials and tribulations, we have come out stronger. We are so blessed and thankful to be able to spend the rest of our lives with each other and cannot wait to celebrate our union with our family and friends who have been supporting us in this journey the past 9 years.” Relive the action in the full gallery by My Wedding Way. How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Once upon a time, in a land far far away, Prince Charming (Trav) stumbled across his soulmate (Kiran) in the crowded halls of Baruch College. Okay, seriously not your ordinary fairytale but it comes pretty darn close! Our love was truly meant to be.
Late in 2007, Kiran entered Baruch College as a freshman, and quickly became involved on campus. One day, she walked out of the Vertical Campus, wearing a yellow top, black leggings, and sandals surrounded by people. Trav thought to himself "She's cute! But it won't happen." However, life had other plans lined up for him.
Kiran and Trav ended up at the same United Sikh Association meeting, where they spoke for almost 30 minutes. Those 30 minutes seemed surreal as if no one else in the room existed and it was only the 2 of them, something just clicked for both of them. They exchanged phone numbers right away and continued their conversation through text... A LOT. The phone bills the next few months were quite long and costly, to their parents' dismay!
Kiran insisted on seeing Trav outside of campus so she attended his Bhangra competition - and that was pretty much love at first dance move for her (She LOVES dancing). She decided it was time for Trav to take her out, and even though he played hard to get, she persuaded him into hanging out before she left for New Orleans for a service trip/class for a month. Well, Trav did not disappoint and took her to their soon to be favorite Thai restaurant near campus, Jai Ya and a beautiful Broadway show, Queens Boulevard. She was absolutely smitten, and left for New Orleans on Cloud 9. They continued their obnoxious thousands of text messages a day while she was away, and realized this was going to be for the long haul. Trav officially asked Kiran out "7 days from February 7th" (so mysterious), and they celebrated their first Valentine's Day together as a couple .... Little did they know, 9 years later they would be writing their love story for their upcoming wedding.
God put us in each other's paths, and through all of our trials and tribulations, we have come out stronger. We are so blessed and thankful to be able to spend the rest of our lives with each other and cannot wait to celebrate our union with our family and friends who have been supporting us in this journey the past 9 years.
And this is only the beginning of their fairytale for Mr. & Mrs. Ramkissoon...
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
Choosing my bridal outfit was certainly the most challenging part of my planning experience. I knew that I wanted signature pieces of my outfit to stand out after doing extensive research online - such as the belt, double chunni and an ombre effect. It was difficult to find something that had all of these pieces in one perfect outfit, especially made with the right fit for someone as petite and short as me. Realizing the challenges we were having, we took my request to a designer and seamstress in Bombay, India and got the wedding gown of my dreams made! It arrived only a week before my wedding which gave us all quite the anxiety and stress, but when I put it on for the first time, all of that was worth it because it was everything I dreamed of and more.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?

The most enjoyable part of the planning process was designing my wedding logo, my bridal party bags and my wedding programs. I love designing on Photoshop so being able to do it for our own wedding, something we had dreamed of for almost a decade, seeing it come to life through all of our details was so magical.
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
One really special moment that I constantly think about is the night before the wedding when all the women of the family prepared me to officially be a bride by performing a braid ceremony, cleaning and prepping my Henna, bathing me and doing a prayer. It was such an emotional evening, but the love in the room was so strong and it is so hard to forget everything that was going through my mind at the moment. It was so special and surreal to be surrounded by family members from all over the world, preparing me for the biggest day of my life.
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
The week long celebrations were all so different from each other, which was our favorite part. We started off with our Ring Ceremony, which was a New York City theme since that is where we met in College. We did a very bold theme with edgy colors: black, white, and deep red. Our Mehndi/Sangeet was an Afghan theme since my side of the family is originated from Afghanistan so we had very colorful, bright decor, and traditional afghan Attan performances. Our Reception was done as an Enchanted Forest theme with lots of greens and flowers all over the room, and highlighting more of my husband's Caribbean roots as he is from Trinidad. We wanted our themes to represent something important to each of us and we believe our fairytale love story was brought to life through our festivities.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Have fun! Enjoy every single moment, because this time does not come back. It is so easy to get wrapped up in the small details, however the most important thing is spending time with the people who flew so far away for your special day, and looking into your husband’s eyes at any moment you can in between the chaos and realizing you’re going to spend the rest of your life with your soulmate and realize how magical that is.
We hope you loved that celebration as much as we did! Don't forget to meet our newest Platinum Guide members!:
