Roselle, IL Indian Wedding by BM Photography

Welcome back, ladies! This love story continues its journey into Jinita & Jaydeep's happily ever after, and we are here to bring you all the details you want to know! This time we will take you to inside the halls of the Pearl Banquets to take part in this lovebirds' wedding ceremony, but we are heading off in style! We are joining Jaydeep in a vibrant and harmonious Baraat procession carried out by Maharaja Farm. This traditional ceremony had all the things we love: colored smoke, loud music, a white horse and of course lots of dancing. After the Baraat procession, Jinita & Jaydeep were ready to move on with the wedding ceremony that united their lives in marriage! Once again, Elegance Decor surprised us with an on-point decor that set the mood for this event. Although the setting was beautiful, it was Jinita who stole the show as she burst into the room. But there is no surprise here as she trusted her beauty needs to Makeup by Bushra, who praised her natural beauty with flawless makeup and hairstyle! Take a look at all the beauty surrounding this life-changing moment, with the magnificent shots captured by BM Photography and compiled in today's gallery. Go check it out!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Even though I (the bride) resided in Chicago and he resides in Florida, Jaydeep and I managed to find each other on Dil Mil (I have no idea how because I thought dil mil works through your location). I actually got the app due to one of my friends who kept nagging me to check it out. I had no desire to use it because looks was important to me and I had a perception of Dil Mil as an app that did not have cute guys lol. But after a long day at work one night, I was scrolling through my phone and noticed that I still had the app. I decided to click on it to open it for the very first time. To my surprise, Jaydeep’s handsome face popped up on my screen as the first guy and I couldn’t resist but to click the checkmark. As I did that, it instantly said that we matched which meant he had already checked out my page and liked it before. I didn’t think much of it so I just left it at matched and went to bed. When I woke up the next morning, I saw that I got a message from him and ever since that day we haven’t been able to go a full day without talking to each other. I knew he was “the one” from the moment we started talking because he reminded me of my brother due to his caring nature and sense of humor. I always told everyone that I would marry someone just like my brother because there’s no one I’m closer to on this planet than him and he cares for me like no one ever has; well besides Jaydeep now. :)

We went to Maui, Hawaii in 2018 because I had just passed my pharmacy boards and finally became a licensed pharmacist. He knows how much work and dedication studying for those boards are because he is also a pharmacist and graduated in 2016. So because of studying, we weren’t able to see each other for 3 months (the whole summer). As a reward, he decided to plan a trip to Hawaii. There was nothing on my mind because my brain was fried from studying so the only thing I could think of was to just have a relaxing and fun trip. He told me to pack lightly and just take one nice dress for a romantic dinner which seemed fair and sounded like any other vacay we’ve taken. On our third day, it was time for our dinner. It was up in the mountains and as we entered I saw photographers and thought “aww how cute. Someone’s getting married.” Then they started clicking away pictures of us and I got kinda confused but didn’t think anything of it. I turned around to fix my purse and the moment I turned back he was on one knee and I had no words and honestly doing recall anything he said besides, “I’ve been waiting for this day forever. Will you marry me?” Then there it was, and I said yessss to forever!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Since I had lived in Chicago for over 15 years, I have been to many weddings and knew vendors pretty well. My sister got married in 2016 and helping her with her wedding planning also made me get in contact with many of her vendors. I already knew who I was going to get with elegance decor being number one on my list due to their elegant reputation and amazing decor. I knew exactly what I wanted in my decor and when I spoke to elegance they just “got it” and understood me. I wanted an open mandap concept for the wedding ceremony so my guests can all feel part of the wedding and are not blocked off by obstructed views. Hair and makeup were done by one of the best in Chicago- makeup Bushra Abbasi and I absolutely loved her work! Enough that I’m flying her down to Florida to do my sister in laws wedding make up and hair! I loved pearl banquets lighting and twinkle lights on top so I knew I wanted to get married at pearl. We decided to keep all our events there to make it easier for guests that came in from out of town. Most of my family members reside in New Zealand and Fiji and the groom's family coming in from Florida, we had to do everything possible to make sure their transport to each event was easy and manageable.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
We went to India for our bridal shopping. I knew I wanted something different and something without borders. I also knew I didn’t want much gold in there but I had always imagined myself getting married in red. So I knew it had to be red in color. Shopping was intense because I am usually so picky with my outfits. We went around to all of India to find the perfect lengha for me. Then in Ahmedabad, we finally managed to find the one I fell in love with. It had the right amount of work on it and didn’t have much gold! It also was the perfect shade and we customized the dupatta to make it pink to match Jaydeeps outfit because I didn’t want us to be too “matchy-matchy” with us both doing red.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
When my husband told me I could do whatever I wanted with the decor since this was my expertise! Lol

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our guests loved our decor and how we managed to match our outfits so well!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Honestly, just have fun with each event. It goes by so quick and don’t worry about outside comments or critiques. Just make sure to have fun at every event because this day will never come again.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
My mehndi outfit was designed by me and made in India. Our red bottoms were a great pop of red at our reception.

We are about to unveil a fantastic reception party that you don't want to miss, so stick around!

Chicago, IL Indian Wedding by I Alam Photography

Welcome back, Maharanis! It is time to get inside the halls of the luxurious Palmer House Hilton to join Shefali & Aman at their wedding ceremony! Chic Events by Sonia designed and executed this event beautifully, while Yanni Design Studio transformed the halls of this exclusive venue into a magical setting for these lovebirds to tie the knot. Shefali burst into the room dressed in a traditional bridal Lengha from Ushnak Mal and rocked a trendy makeup and classy hairstyle, both done by Dollhouse Beauty. The smokey eyes and the dark matte lipstick praised this Maharani's natural beauty and made her look like a princess. I Alam Photography, snapped fantastic shots from every angle to portray the beauty of this event, and the photos are so good that we almost feel like if we were there. If you don't want to miss any detail of this lovely ceremony, make sure to check the gallery that we have for you today! It is filled with amazing shots that will take your breath away!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
It was the fall of 2015. Aman (my now husband) was returning to Duke to finish his final year of his MBA, and I had just moved to Durham to start my Master’s at Duke a few months before. By chance, we ended up at the same Back to School party at the beginning of the year. Across the way, he spotted me. Shortly after we were introduced to each other. We hit it off immediately and began what neither of us knew would be a lifetime of adventures together. Aman grew up in India and I grew up across the US, so to think of how our paths crossed and how we immediately became attached to one another, is a story I could have only imagined about finding love. There are some people who are meant to be in our lives, even if they start off a world apart, they find a way to each other.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
We jetted off to LA for my birthday and Aman had a surprise in store for how to celebrate, little did I know there was a ring waiting at the end of it. I impatiently sat through well renowned LA traffic, bugging Aman about where we were going the entire time. Then the guessing began, as we approached metal fences and large runways built for airplanes, I knew I was in for something special. Aman had planned this beautiful experience of taking a helicopter ride over LA. We stopped during our helicopter travels atop a California mountain, where a picnic with roses and champagne were setup. While appreciating the view, Aman said I have to ask you something, and I turned to him to say ok go ahead. Little did I know I was giving him the go ahead to ask me to marry him. It was the perfect way to agree to start our lives together atop a mountain overlooking the ocean.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
As a business person, all great undertakings start with an excel. I made a list of all the vendors that I would like to incorporate into my wedding separated by each event and an estimated budget. After that I started filling in the gaps by reaching out to various vendors starting with venue, mehndi, photographer, videographer and decor. Since we had 8 months to plan a wedding, it was important to act fast, so I set a goal to finalize each vendor within 3 weeks from beginning research to final contracts. Instagram and internet wedding inspiration really helped to come up with a lot of the ideas we implemented for the entire wedding. From how to find jewelry and outfits while going to Delhi all the way to decor inspiration, collecting pictures and being prepared for each discussion with vendors was key to moving forward and having productive conversations. There's so much creativity that goes into planning a wedding, but I also set a timeline that for every new idea it would take 3 weeks to execute so no new ideas 3 weeks before the wedding. This worked out great, because we had time to be organized, enjoy spa days before the wedding and spend time with family and friends that were traveling into town for the wedding. Trust me, even then, there's no shortage of items to do for the big day!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
There was no question in my mind that my wedding lengha had to be RED. I wanted an updated traditional look. I had a vision of how I wanted to look on my wedding day and started breaking it down from there. I spent some time in India exploring wedding lenghas at stores throughout Delhi and then it just happened. I saw it, slept on it overnight, went back the next day & the rest started to fall into place from there.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The best part part about planning a wedding is how everyone you love comes together to make this one day of your life absolutely incredible. It was amazing to see how friends were offering advice, family was making everything happen across the ocean, my Mom was the creative mind and project manager of it all. From our siblings never leaving our side during wedding week, our parents being our pillars of strength and our friends/family making it the best wedding celebration. Can't forget our amazing vendors from Canada, Chicago, California and India that filled our wedding with professionalism, happiness and went above and beyond their call of duty. In my perspective we had set up our very own supply chain of ideas and resources to create our dream wedding in Chicago.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
They loved the intimate feel of all the events throughout the week of the wedding and that the schedule on the day of the wedding allowed for socializing with plenty of food during the quieter moments and plenty of moments to stay entertained throughout the day. Our goal was to make sure that everyone who came for our wedding was having a great time also. Not only did I want it to be a memorable day for me and Aman, but I wanted each one our guests to enjoy the day and be involved in helping us join our two lives together.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The entrance for our wedding reception was a really special moment. Both of us were nervous about performing our dance, and when we walked in there was such a great energy filled with so much positivity that it completely transformed ours. Surrounded by our family and friends, the night started off with a lot of dancing and celebrating right away.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
I really wanted to have an outdoor event, and there was no better place than in our lawn at our home.  I wanted bright colors, lots of flowers/garlands and while the rituals of haldi, chura and mehndi were happening to be surrounded by all of our loved ones. Having everyone there from the beginning of the wedding events to hosting a brunch after the wedding, it was a great wedding weekend!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
During the wedding planning process, have an activity or a skill you are building that has the ability to take your mind away from wedding planning for a little while. This helps in three ways: one, you are building a skill that you can use in the future, two, you have a reason other than work to do something for yourself and three, you can come back to the wedding planning with a refreshed mind and outlook. It's really easy to think about your wedding around the clock (literally! so many late night phone calls to India) until it happens, so it's good to have a fun hobby you're doing alongside.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
After dinner at the reception, we had a performance from a bhangra team to get everybody dancing again. This was so much fun and was an amazing performance! Mehndi was extremely important to me, it was the first thing I booked! I loved doing Haldi with Aman, doing it together made it really fun and makes for great pictures! Then he disappeared, while I had my chura ceremony. All of these rituals and events leading up to the wedding day are some of the best parts of our Indian weddings. Lastly, since we had so many family and friends coming from out of town, it was important to me to choose a venue where they would have access to Chicago so they could use their down time to sightsee and enjoy the city.

Get ready for the reception party!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met at my store, we had a few common friends but we never spoke/met personally. That was the first time we spoke, exchanged numbers and from that day we had that instant comfort and connection. We did not date each other, as we both were looking for a life partner during that time, so we decided to spend some time together and further decide. Once we were sure about our decision, we told our parents about and they agreed to meet. They met and said YES!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We matched on a dating site and it took Jasmit a whole year to finally message me lol Once he did though, things progressed effortlessly. We both made time to meet each other regularly and got to spend a lot of time together. There was not one moment that stands out but every single day I spent with him made me fall more in love with him. He is truly a kind, selfless and caring person. We both got along great and things just fell into place.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Despite Jasmit’s secrecy regarding the proposal, I was on to his scheme. I played along with the game and purposely dressed down that day to throw him off. He persisted nonetheless and guided me up the 300+ steps to scenic Piazza de Michelangelo overlooking Florence, Italy. I smiled and continued the ascent to the overlook. Jasmit proceeded to consider potential proposal locations while a violinist just happened to be playing the most romantic song (Not planned at all). He finally settled a on a bushy secluded area await for the mirad of tourists. There he nervously got on one knee, fumbled the ring while I laughed and blushed uncontrollably. Yes was the response as any other answer would have resulted in a most awkward descent back to Florence.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We didn't have much time to plan which ended up being a great thing. We were decisive and checked things off our list pretty quickly. Thankfully, my best friend is Sarah khan of Sarah khan event styling and she was helpful from day one from recommending venues to cake vendors. Photographick was highly recommended by many of our friends so he was the first person we booked. Within in a month after that we had the dj, caterer and venues booked as well. I took a 7 day trip to India with my mother and Masi and an 1 hour after landing in Delhi, I had finalized my wedding ceremony lehnga. Jasmit and I have pretty similar taste in style so he left most of the details up to me to pick. That included all of his wedding outfits and the decor for the entire wedding.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I originally had light pink in mind inspired by Anushka Sharma's wedding lehnga. However, when I actually started trying on lehngas, the brighter colors caught my eye more. I did know that I wanted a floral theme though and found the perfect bright pink floral lehnga very quickly.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Both of our families are from the same area so it was really nice to plan our wedding close to home.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Probably Jasmit's dance performance at the Sangeet.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Rhere were so many! We had a lot of smaller events at home and it was really special to be able to celebrate with close family before the big events.

We hope you have a great weekend! See you on Monday!
