Maharani Karthy, on what she loved most about planning her dream Indian wedding:

"I enjoyed most bringing our two styles and traditions together. Shiven is Gujurati and I am Malayalee, so we both had different traditions we wanted to combine."

Maharani Karthy, on how she met the Raja of her dreams, Shiven:

"So this isn’t your typical we met in college, fell in love and are getting married stories. I think fate definitely had something to do with it. We both went to college in Philadelphia, but surprisingly in the brown college scene never crossed paths. We did however have plenty of mutual friends. Fast forward to May of 2012. Both Shiven and I found ourselves in the city of brotherly love yet again. I was eagerly looking forward to seeing Beyoncé live in concert and he was visiting friends. While out in the city, our two groups of friends happen to run into each other and of course someone knew someone and everyone stopped to say hi. Shiven then came up to me and said, “You look like this girl I know!”... Now normally this is where I would laugh at a cheesy pick-up line, but it just so happens this often occurred in Philly so I knew exactly who he was referring to. We ended up talking about how we both knew the same people and chatted for a few minutes before our groups of friends moved on and parted ways. I didn’t think much of my conversation with this guy I just met. The next day I found a message waiting for me in my Facebook inbox from Shiven. We periodically messaged each other and eventually we found ourselves writing essays back and forth about our days and life in general. Believe it or not it took over a month for the first text to be exchanged and even longer until I finally agreed to dinner and our first date.

I knew Shiven was the one when I was dealing with a family member who had fallen sick. He spent many late nights with me on the phone and was so supportive. Being with someone who I knew could be with me through thick and thin was so important. He made me laugh, was there when I was upset and was the only person I could picture becoming my husband. I knew after that he was a keeper!"

On her Raja's unforgettable proposal:

"On the day Shiven proposed I was competing in a dance competition. It was also around the time of my birthday so we had planned a get together with some friends after the show. After I had performed we walked over to the hotel where we were staying along with our friends. Shiven asked if he could take me upstairs quickly to give me my birthday present and freshen up. We got to the room and upon entering I saw happy birthday balloons and a large gift wrapped box. Instead of handing me the box, he walked me to the desk in the room where he has set up his laptop. He told me he had more than one gift and this was the first part. I sat down super confused, while he cued up a video. He had put together a video of all my family and friends saying happy birthday and what they loved about me. Even my family from India! I remember thinking how AWESOME it was and how much time it must have taken him to put it together. At the end of the video, he wished me happy birthday and told me there was another gift, but this one he needed to open for me. I was so confused and turned to him only to find him on one knee with a box in hand. The next few minutes was a blur of emotion, but I said yes! To add on to the surprise he walked me to the connecting room and it was filled with all of our family and friends waiting to surprise me. We spent the rest of the evening celebrating being engaged. To add onto the excitement, I found out we won first place at the competition, which I had no idea happened because I had left early to get ready. It was such an eventful day."

On shopping for her dream wedding sari:

"I knew immediately that I wanted to wear a traditional kanjivaram silk sari from Kerala for our ceremony. I had always loved seeing photos of my mom and the women in my family on their wedding days and knew I wanted to go that route as well. I tried on many saris when we went to India and when I saw the one I eventually chose it felt so right. My family immediately agreed and it was perfect."

On her hair and makeup:

"I worked with Bhargavi from Cinderella Bridez. For my ceremony I wanted a classic south Asian bridal look. We used deep gold tones, a thick black eye liner, and red lip to match my sari for the makeup. For my hair she helped me bring my traditional south Indian bride look to life. She braided my hair and added jewels and fresh jasmine flower strands to complete the look. For the ceremony, we matched the tones in my lengha and I gave her full reign to go complete Bollywood glam."

Meet me back here later today for details from Karthy and Shivan's wedding ceremony!

Maharani Shafohi, on how she met the Raja of her dreams, Vinayak:

"We met on Match.com. I knew he was the one when he gave his coat/jacket to my girlfriend who didn't have a jacket as we were heading out for Halloween. It was a super cold day, I realized how thoughtful and generous he was that night. He sacrificed his comfort so that my girlfriend could be comfortable and I would be happy."

On one of her most memorable wedding memories:

"The most magical was our first look. I remember thinking how this is the most important person in my life and that I am blessed to have found this amazing human being to get to walk side by side in life."

On shopping for her dream wedding lenghas:

"I worked with Payal Singhal's representative Studio East 6 in Chicago after spending hours on the internet."

Meet me back here later today for some major Maharani style, my dears!

Garden Grove, CA Indian Wedding by Robles Video Productions

Happy Friday, my fabulous friends! Today is 2015's final Filmy Friday — can you believe it?! Another year of wondrous weddings has whizzed right by! Don't worry though, we filled this week full of amazing wedding highlights during our first ever Filmy Festival on the Platinum Guide, so if you're feeling a bit blue about saying goodbye to the year's best collection of movies, you can get your fill of more by heading there! Kicking off our last group of cinematic gems is this incredible Indian wedding wonder filmed and edited by the extraordinary team at Robles Video ProductionsPlanning Elegance put on a show of pure perfection when they planned and designed Sonal and Hiren's dream day, and in collaboration with floral and decor expert, Shawna Yamamoto Event Design, this exquisite event went off without a hitch in true Maharani style! The adorable Indian bride wore an ivory, red and green lengha with a long sleeved blouse to her I dos, and LuLu Nguyen of Dolled Up By Lulu worked her expert hair and makeup marvels on her to complete her sublime look. We loved the uber fun-tastic baraat coverage of the groom, surrounded by excited guests dancing the procession away, at the Hyatt Regency Garden Grove — where he put a ring on it when he arrived! There are plenty of first look and ceremony highlights that will take your breath away, and we can only imagine how amazing the portraits and images captured by Global Photography must have turned out! The post-ceremony party with Special Occasions DJ & Lighting was surely one to remember, and we hope to see some moments from that reception soon too!

Maharani Sonal, on Raja Hiren's surprise wedding proposal:

"It all started off with what I thought was just going to be another trip to Disneyland with my sister, Shital, and my cousin, Sonica. Originally this "Disneyland trip" was for my best friend's 25th birthday, but last minute she couldn't make it. So I turned it into a family trip since the tickets were already bought. Sonica and I headed to Disneyland early while Shital was going to meet us there after her training for work ended. We got to Disneyland, walked around a bit and looked for some good food options because Sonica wanted to eat. Because she was very anxious and didn't want to wait in a long line for food we ended up going to souvenir shops to look around. As we were looking around Sonica sporadically found a caricature stand and wanted to get a caricature done, which I agreed to. We had a fun time getting the caricature done laughing, singing, talking, and of course smiling for the drawing. There was such a large audience looking at our picture as it was getting drawn. Once it was done, the artist drawing the caricature asked me to come look at it before he finished up the final touches of the picture. I got up and looked at it and was in such shock and excitement all in one. It was a picture of Hiren on one knee saying "will you marry me?". The next thing I know, I turn around and see Hiren on one knee proposing to me with all of my closest friends and family surrounding the area. The rest is history..."

On shopping for her dream wedding lengha(s):

"All my outfits were chosen in India from Mumbai and Surat. Prior to going to India, my mom and sisters helped me look for different wedding styles that would look elegant and unique. Pinterest was our friend for all wedding ideas. My goal was always to find unique and elegant outfits. I wanted them to stand out but not be too flashy or heavy. Once I got to India, my parents and I spent about a week in Mumbai to do some wedding shopping. Literally, we woke up early every morning and got to the stores right when they opened and got back to the hotel late at night when we were extremely exhausted. After days of shopping and looking around I finally found the perfect wedding and reception outfit. They both fit my criteria of being elegant and unique, without being too heavy."

On her most memorable wedding day moment:

"The most magical moment was when I got to watch Hiren and his jaan arrive to the wedding venue. I sat in a room at the Hyatt which overlooked the whole event. It's a memory that'll forever be engraved in me. I stood on the terrace as they danced the whole way down to the perfect music. I watched my bridesmaids go in with the jaan and dance while Hiren's groomsmen were yelling "Hiren, Hiren, Hiren" and my bridesmaids were yelling "Sonal, Sonal, Sonal". Everyone had smiles on their faces. I spotted Hiren on his horse and it made my heart drop. At that moment, I realized this was it. I was finally going to marry my best friend and the man of my dreams."

On her and Raja Hiren's first dance song:

"Our first dance was Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran. When this song first came out last year, I felt it was the perfect song to describe our love. We fell in love in a very mysterious yet amazing way and I knew I wanted to love him for life. We spent hours and hours talking on the phone, face timing, and texting throughout the day, due to distance and those were the best times ever. I shared this song with Hiren and he ended up loving this song as much as I did."

We're just getting started my dears! Don't forget, today is also the final day of our first ever Filmy Festival on the Platinum Guide, so there's plenty more wedding film fabulousness going on over there too!
