This final, energetic highlight reel of the day will have you smiling from ear-to-ear, and that's no understatement! The super adorable bride had me giggling when she literally weighed in on how heavy her gorgeous, red and ivory bridal lengha was — with a smile. And I can truly feel the dynamic and genuine connection between her and her Prince charming throughout this incredible wedding film, which was fantastically captured and edited by the talented team at Elite One Cinema. With help from Bridal Elegance by Suman Khosla, Maharani Leila was able to bring her dream hair and makeup looks to life, and she is stunning from pre-wedding to reception. The wedding ceremony at the Durga Temple of Virginia was brilliantly highlighted and we're positive it was one event none of the guests will soon forget. For the reception, the bride opted for a white, princess gown, and how elegantly she glides on the dance floor at the Foxchase Manor with it. Check out all of the out-of-this-worldly adorable moments below!
The bride, on how she met the Raja of her dreams:
"Kunal and I met on New Years Eve in Temple. As our families finished midnight prayers into the New Year I was introduced to Kunal. That night I knew a higher power had something planned for the both of us. It was only fit we held our wedding ceremony in Temple."
On the super romantic proposal:
"Kunal knows how big I am on family. During a normal afternoon after lunch, Kunal suddenly got down on one knee in a parking lot. So unexpected all I could hear was my heart beating. After quickly saying yes, I heard clapping. I thought it was so nice of strangers to clap for us, but running towards us was both of our families! I was even more excited that they were able to share one of the happiest moments of my life."
On her wedding style:
"Kunal and I knew that we wanted a grand wedding. We both are very modern, but when it came to our wedding functions we stayed very "classic". Our wedding ceremony was very traditional with gold, maroons and reds. While our reception deemed more modern with different shades of blue, gold and lots of crystals! We wanted our wedding to focus around food, drinks, and music. We had the best caterers in Northern VA, top shelf liquor at all our events and the one of the best DJS!"
On what she enjoyed most about planning her dream wedding:
"I had such a beautiful time planning our wedding. Kunal being Punjabi and myself bringing my Indo-Guyanese culture to the table was such a learning process. I learned so much about the Punjabi culture and about sacred traditions carried out by my Indo-Guyanese roots. We tried to incorporate all traditions into our big day and have our guests experience two sides of the world. From our music, food and traditional dances it was so exciting sharing a part of us with our guests."
On selecting her dream wedding lengha:
"I wanted an old school and modern clash with my attire, so for this I chose a cream and maroon colored lengha for my big day. I worked with Rahul, from Armaans Bridal in NYC who helped me personally design my lengha from head to toe."
On her most memorable wedding moment:
"I was very emotional throughout all my wedding festivities leading up to my big day. I cried every time I went to a fitting and even shed some tears thinking about my big day. I knew for sure I would cry walking down the aisle. To my disbelief, when it came time to walk down the aisle I was so overjoyed all I could so was smile from ear to ear and even giggle some."
On their first dance song selection:
"Savage Garden- Truly, Madly, Deeply. A beautiful hit from the 90s. This song reminded us of a time when life seemed so simple and carefree. Everyone jokes that Kunal and I are the biggest love birds and this song expressed all the emotions we felt towards each other."
On her hair and makeup:
"I am always very simple, so when it came to my big events I wanted something that screamed "WOW!" but also wanted subtle. As soon as my wedding date was decided I knew I wanted to work with Suman Khosla based out of the Washington D.C area. Suman and I came up for three different looks for all three of my different events. For My wedding I wanted "Old School Bollywood". Suman worked her magic with a beautiful side braid covered in Jasmine flowers, thick winged eyeliner, and a beautiful bold red lip . She hit my vision right on the dot. Everyone raved that I looked like I had just come out of an 80's bollywood film."
On the role the family and friends played:
"Traditional weddings last for 7 days and we did just that. Everyday at our homes was a party leading into the next event. We want to thank our family and friends for such cherishable moments they spent with us. We did not have a wedding planner, so we have to thank our parents who put in so much work to make our special day as memorable as can be. A parent's touch is a true blessing and we were so thankful for all the support they provided."
