Alberta, Canada Pakistani Wedding by Michael Anthony Photography

Welcome back, dolls! For this marvelous photo shoot, Lubna and Waqas looked adorable wearing their traditional outfits against this staggering scenario and felt a little more adventurous by jumping into a canoe to strike the pose for the cameras of Michael Anthony Photography! What a unique photo session! Maharani Lubna bedazzled in an intricately embroidered red outfit while Ms Painted Lady took care of all her beauty needs, giving her a queen flair! Lynn Fletcher Weddings planned and designed this fairy-tale wedding reception for the ages! Providing an incredibly amazing setup of stunning florals and chandeliers plus a divine wedding stage décor adding this way a big splash of elegance to the scenery!  DJ Jas Roadshow played the best songs that enlivened every festive dance performance while Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise provided a lavish meal that made every guest happier! I’m totally inspired by all the beauty that this soiree contained and I can’t wait for you to see it in our full gallery! Take a tour through the imagery!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met through mutual friends on Christmas Eve a few years back.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Waqas had a scavenger hunt planned. I woke up to a couple of cards outside my bedroom door which was how it began. He had a day of activities planned for me. The final clue was a car was picking me up at 4:30 from my house. My driver arrived and took me to White Rock Lake, which is where Waqas proposed.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
From the very beginning, I knew I wanted a destination wedding. Picking Lake Louise for our wedding was an easy choice after visiting the destination a few times. Before visiting, I knew I wanted my ceremony to take place on the Terrace at Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. After our visit, it didn't take much convincing to seal the deal. When I went to Banff, we viewed several properties to decide where we would have a Welcome Party and Valima. We chose Canmore Opera House for our Welcome Party since it is a quaint and cozy venue with a beautiful backdrop. When we visited Sky Bistro, I knew it was perfect for the Valima. It is on top of the mountain so all of our guests had to get on a Gondola to get to the top of the restaurant. We were so happy with all of our venue choices, the views exceeded our expectations.
Hair and Makeup was very important to me, so we flew in the very best, MsPaintedLady from Dallas.
My welcome party outfit was from Silk Threads in Dallas
My nikkah outfit was from a local designer in Dallas
My Shaadi outfit was from Shiza Hassan
My Valima outfit was from Pakistan
Waqas Shaadi outfit was from Rici Melion
Waqas Valima outfit was from Hugo Boss

Photography was also very important to me, so we flew in Michael Anthony from LA (now known as Studio23). He has a landscape wedding photographer so I knew he would be perfect for our location

Decor and wedding planning was done by Lynn from Lynn Fletcher Weddings. I wanted a romantic look with glass tables and floral bridges throughout the room

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I wanted traditional red

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
While stressful, I enjoyed all of it. Planning from a different country was difficult but rewarding

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The location and that they were able to make a vacation out of it.

When I first told people I was having a destination wedding, most people first question was "how are your parents okay with it?" It wasn't hard to convince them at all. After hosting my sisters 5-day wedding in Dallas for 600 people, my parents were completely on board for a change.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Our Imam did a great job, listening to him with his voice echoing off the lake was surreal

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
We had a live painter at our ceremony and reception. It was such a special touch. We have the painting hanging in our home now. We wanted to make sure all the concerns of our guests were taken care of. It was important to give all guests a welcome bag with some essentials, we had sunglasses during our ceremony, we had shawls and hand warmers during our ceremony in case it got cold.
Several of my cousins put together surprise dances for us.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Soak it all in! Enjoy it because it will be over before you know it. Fights with family members and your significant other mean nothing in the grand scheme of things because it all works out perfectly

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)

Alberta, Canada Pakistani Wedding by Michael Anthony Photography

We are still in paradise, loves! Lubna and Waqas were ready to say "Yes" at the stunning Victoria Terrace of the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise overlooking the Lake Louise and its impressive surroundings that allowed some extraordinary well achieved photos from Studio 23 Photography! How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met Ravi through Instagram. My profile at that time was not private and I was obsessed with hashtags! My family would always tease me becuase I would have so many hashtags for each of my pictures. Anyway, one day he came across my picture and luckily he went to my profile. There he saw an old picture of me when I had my red hair. Yes! It was the red hair that started this love story. He immediately decided to direct message me on Instagram. Lucky him, I replied after checking out his Instagram page. He had green eyes! Brown guy? Green Eyes? He totes had my attention! Months after Facetime, Phonecalls he finally came down to Houston to see me in person. I knew he was the one when I saw him and just can’t explain that feeling. It was just right and so magical. I was happier than I had ever been.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Ravi planned an amazing surprise trip to Tulum, Mexico! Everything was just so magical. Ravi made sure I had the perfect outfit for the proposal. He also made sure I had clothes to wear every day we were there since I had no idea where I was going! I found out at the airport that we were going to Tulum! However, at that time I still didn’t know that it was going to be one of the most amazing trips of my life. We stayed at a super quiet and relaxing Airbnb. Saturday of March 23rd, he took me to this amazing rooftop restaurant. It was such a romantic and intimate environment because of the atmosphere near the beach. Right before the sun was setting he popped the question that I had been waiting to hear for a VERY LONG TIME. I did not even take a second to say, YES!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I always had an idea of how I wanted my wedding. I mean who doesn’t right? However, we had decided that we did not want a wedding planner. I decided to do everything from A-Z, literally. I admit it was so so hard but super rewarding at the same time. I had my own checklist, budget planning list, and added all details/important meetings to my calendar. However, I am so blessed to have had my family right behind me holding my back. Even though, I planned my day I just don’t think I could have done it without them because they were also a huge help throughout the whole wedding. What kept me super positive is that I always said at the end of the day we are just throwing a big party!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I love the color pink and florals. I always knew that my wedding lengha would be in the colors of pink with florals. I found my bridal lengha the very first day we went shopping in India. What turned out to be more perfect was that Ravi found his outfit the same day and it matched exactly with mine. That is when I knew that was one!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
I think the most enjoyable part was that I got to plan the entire wedding with Ravi. A lot of men don’t really care to be a part of the planning processes. However, I guess I was lucky that Ravi was just as excited to be a part of planning our day and we did it together.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
I believe that our guests loved everything about our wedding. The peacocks were amazing and so beautiful. We really weren’t looking to spend too much on our wedding so it was really hard to get someone to make huge peacocks made of florals because it is costly. However, when I found that someone to do this for me I almost cried because it was a dream come true when I saw the mandap and a lot of our guests loved it. We also had fireworks which our guests enjoyed so much!
We separated our days for Wedding & Reception so I think our guests enjoyed some time to also relax between our functions.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
I have so many special moments that are on replays in my mind. The very first time we saw each other during our first look. The moment that I walked down the mandap and they removed the drapes that were covering his face and I saw Ravi’s smile. The moment when he danced to our favorite song “Saree Ke Fall Sa” during the reception. The way he looked at me that entire weekend.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
I know that we tend to go a little crazy but turn that craze to sane and just keep being positive. Don’t forget at the end of the day the only thing that matters is how much you and your to be husband love each other.

We'll meet you back here on Tuesday!
