How did you meet your Groom, and when did you know he was "the one"?
My husband and I met at work. He was my biggest fan since the day he met me. One NYE evening out, during the middle of COVID, we talked about our fears and life goals. It was so easy. That's when I knew he was the real deal.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
It was a no-brainer for me to go to India to do all my shopping; the selection is unbeatable. I went to Roopkala in Mumbai. I kept a really open mind but knew red was my power color. I loved the figures and animals on dresses and loved the separate color dupattas. So mine was perfect. I wanted a different color for each event. I got my henna outfit from an expo we happened to go to.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
My guests really enjoyed the food and venue. It was really important for me to have a wedding where everyone, including family, could have a good time. For us, that means great eats and good people. All the events were in the same resort, so there was no traveling for those who chose to stay. For me, that was worth the upcharge. The venue also had a private lobby for us so my entire family could just relax and catch up. The staff was incredible; they rallied after Hurricane Ian destroyed their venue and, for some, their homes. We were always still their number one priority.
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
I really wanted a budget-friendly outdoor wedding. So, while I couldn't find a beach venue that would be easy to travel to (since it was a "destination" wedding) and accommodate my guest count, I was able to find a venue that could host an outdoor wedding and have ballrooms that had massive outdoor balconies for people to hang out. After sweating it out on the garba floor, that nighttime breeze with great food and friends was amazing. My decor team also completely understood me and my vision. I didn't want to splurge on decor, but I definitely wanted most events to be decorated. They did an amazing job of keeping it simple, beautiful, and super fun at the same time.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
A good planner is essential- it is worth the money. I would easily cut other budgets down so that I could have someone take care of everything. My planners did an amazing job securing the vendors that made my event so special. They were able to help a lot with the workload, letting our parents handle the cultural aspects of the event. It was worth it. Also, pick your battles. The day will go as it goes, and all you will remember is how much love you are showered with.
Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
We did a digital invitation from Exotic Invites and limited the number of prints we did. The design and time difference was really tough, but it really set the tone for the wedding. I loved it, and so did my guests.
This lovely wedding was such a pleasure to see. I enjoyed every minute of it! See you tomorrow.
