Maharani Roma on her bridal fashion:

"Choosing my bridal lehenga was stressful because I didn't really get to choose it myself at all. My mom went to India without me, armed with my Pinterest moodboard for what kind of styles I liked, and even though we talked about getting on FaceTime when she went to the stores, it never really worked out. Also, in India they're so worried that you're going to get a copy made of their designs that they almost never let you take photos. Well...luckily my Mausi went around disregarding that and snapping secret, odd-angled pics of various lenghas, and I really fell in love with the orange, fuschia, and almost minty-blue outfit that we got.

My Anita Dongre anarkali lehenga for our reception was something that I took a chance on and bought online from Pernia's Pop-Up Shop."

Come see all the excitement Desi Junction DJs brings to the reception next!

Austin, TX Indian Fusion Wedding by Studio Uma

We're at the Four Seasons Hotel Austin, ready to share all the magic that Yellow Umbrella Events planned into Roma and Daniel's spectacular Gujarati fusion wedding! The outdoor ceremony made the most of the beautiful springtime scenery; The Flower Studio created an incredible, vibrant mandap, covered with gorgeous flowers to go with the natural feeling of the event! Our Indian bride Roma was radiant as she walked down the aisle, looking especially lovely with makeup by Makenzi Laine! After seeing how dazzled Raja Daniel was by his Maharani, we're certain that this was the beginning of Happily Ever After! See more of the magnificent moments Studio Uma captured in the full gallery!

Maharani Roma on her wedding style:

"There were three things I knew that I wanted from the outset. I wanted the ceremony to be outdoors, I wanted it to be colorful, and I knew that I wanted to juxtapose the traditional opulence of Indian weddings (the ornate clothing, and jewelry, etc.) with decor that was more natural and ethereal without it feeling incompatible. You can find a ton of inspiration on Pinterest for grand, Indian-style weddings as well as rustic, natural and ethereal styles that are more common in American weddings. Combining the two styles takes a bit more digging and imagination."

On her favorite part of planning:
"I really enjoyed the DIY bits because, unlike the details you hand off to various vendors, you get to execute things exactly to your vision and immediately picture how things will look on the day of.

I worked on and off over a couple of months on the design of our wedding program which I did all the graphics/layout for and had printed in Chinatown in SF. I also put together the rose petal cones, wrote the escort cards and combined them with the wedding favors. My mom helped a lot too. She strung together and attached the flowers for my entrance dupatta, and she made the antarpat out of an old sari."

We're checking out the reception portraits next, and later on we'll see all the fun Desi Junction DJs brings to the reception!

Maharani Roma on meeting her Raja and how she knew he was "the one":

"Despite the fact that Daniel and I had both worked at Google on the same product for roughly 2 years, we didn't actually meet till we were halfway around the world in Barcelona on a work trip. After that we started hanging out back in San Francisco more and more.

I don't know that a single moment in time where you realize someone is 'the one' really exists. For myself, I had various moments along the timeline of our relationship. I initially started out fairly skeptical about the whole thing and wasn't even sure that I wanted to be in a relationship at all, but a pivotal moment for me was realizing how well we got along with each other, how much I enjoyed spending time with him, how much more enjoyable life was with him around, and I decided purely to myself that I was 100% in and hoped that it all worked out."

Up next: the glorious outdoor ceremony! Later: a gorgeous reception featuring Desi Junction DJs!

Maharani Madhu, on her wedding style:

"Our wedding style was a combination of our visions that built over the months of planning. Most girls know what they want in a wedding, I was the opposite. The more we searched the Internet and sat down with different vendors, the more confused we actually got. When we first met Mejoo, we knew from that very first meeting she would be able to deliver exactly what we wanted and add her own unique touches to all the events.

Our Sangeet was themed Fete in the Air. Being from the Caribbean, Fete is a term used quite frequently. And for us, we wanted our Sangeet to be one big party and that's exactly what it was. A colorful and fun night for our family and friends. We also had mehendi and caricature artists for the Sangeet."

On her most memorable sangeet moment:

"Sumeet was completely clueless that I was going to do a dance for him. So after everyone's performances of both sides of the family, my dance was a surprise at the end for him! When I got up he looked confused on what was going on. I was proud of myself for having kept it a secret the entire time. But he ended up surprising me as well, when he got up midway of my dance to join me. He joined along with his own moves, and everyone thought we had both practiced together when we in fact had not!"

See you later today for some major wedding day excitement!
