Herndon, Virginia Indian Wedding by Akbar Sayed Photography

We are unveiling the colorful day of Abi and Varun! The vibrant sangeet added some bold colors to the wedding celebrations held at The Woodlands at Algonkian, the elegant event space was beautifully decorated with bright drapery and charming multi-colored umbrellas as centerpieces designed by the talented décor team of DMV DECOR. To complement the fantastic décor and ambiance, the bride and groom sat in a charming jhula where they observed the fabulous choreographies of their loved ones.  Extravagant Affairs took care of every detail and executed perfectly every wish of the bride and groom for their pre-wedding festivity. To dance along the sounds of India, the beautiful Abi chose a lively yellow outfit finished off with a side swept hairstyle and added a touch of romance with small flowers between strands. Check out the lovebird’s best moves in the full gallery by Akbar Sayed Photography!

Columbus, OH Indian Wedding by SIA Digital Studio

Welcome back to all the glory of Puja and Amey’s wedding. The bride’s beauty regime was accompanied by the charming bridal party who helped the bride prepare her special look. She opted for a maroon bridal lehenga with heavy embroidery work and an awesome bridal jewelry design she exclusively revealed to her soon-to-be-husband before the ceremony in an intimate first look moment at the aisle! Kelly Karsten Florals infused the ceremony with a summer vibe, adding the prettiest palm leaves and colorful blooms to the wonderful mandap stage designed by B3 Event Management. The ceremony took place at the Hilton Columbus at Easton where the enchanting rituals and blessings were beautifully preserved by SIA Digital Studio in a very well capture sequence of images that shows us how these two became husband and wife! Don’t miss any detail and see the beautiful pictures of the lovely union in our full gallery!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met my groom through online dating. I knew he was the one when we couldn’t stop talking to each other. We would text 24/7 and could talk about literally anything without getting bored!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
The proposal was such a surprise! I was out to brunch with a friend and when I came back to the apartment, there were candles and rose petals all over. After he proposed, he surprised me with a video of all my family & closest friends sharing their congrats. We spent the rest of the day celebrating with our friends. It was perfect!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Planning an Indian wedding is always stressful based on the number of events there are but everything turned out perfect! Since I work in the creative industry and already had a vision for how I wanted everything to look, it didn’t take me long to find vendors who could make it all come to life. I wanted a jewel tones decor & floral theme that was unique from what other people have done. I also wanted palm trees running down the aisle which turned out amazing! The most important details for me were the food and the DJ- which both turned out amazing!!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
All of my dresses came from India and I wanted colors that would coordinate well with my decor for photos. I chose burgundy and gold for my wedding outfit & my groom's and navy for the wedding party. Although I loved my wedding outfits, my favorites were my Sangeet and reception dresses. My Sangeet dress was a pink floral lehenga from Mahima Mahajan and my reception dress was custom made from Gaurav Gupta.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable parts of planning for me were the small creative details that really made our wedding special and unique. We made a giant movie poster backdrop & banners with our photos on them for the reception, funny Snapchat filters, creative signature cocktail signs, custom place cards, fun bridal party gifts, etc. that really helped set our wedding apart. (all from The Girl in Tulle)

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Based on what our friends and family have told us, everyone especially loved the food at all the events and how smooth and organized the entire weekend was. Everything was perfectly on time and all the dances and speeches were fun and ran pretty quickly!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The most memorable moment of the wedding for me was walking down the aisle with my dad. It was so surreal seeing all my family and friends in the same room and it made everything finally feel real. I also loved the reception after party we had. My sister planned for a huge buffet of food for everyone (including chips & queso- my favorite) and it was so much fun just relaxing and being able to hang out with all our family and friends.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
My favorite decor for the weekend was the Sangeet. My decorator and I had spent the least time discussing it but it turned out so amazing and we even had a bike trolley to take photos with. We also had dances and singers perform at the Sangeet which was so much fun! I also loved our reception cake. I had found the exact cake I wanted on Pinterest & Short North Piece of Cake was able to duplicate it exactly!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Don’t stress about the planning! Have fun with it and let the little things go because you won’t even notice them on the day of and everything will turn out great!

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
I absolutely loved the venue we used. (Hilton Easton). The guests loved how they could walk to so many restaurants, shopping, etc. and we had so much fun working with our contact. (Karen)

We are going directly to the splendid reception! Stay around, loves!

Honolulu, Hawaii Indian Wedding by MeewMeew Studios

Honolulu is the ultimate destination for beach weddings and it was chosen by Punita and Rutvij to celebrate their luxury Indian affair. Beautifully designed by Mira Savara Events, this perfect beach wedding had a marvelous conclusion with a lavish reception at The Royal Hawaiian. The resort’s hall was a dream come true with multicolor floral centerpieces and a dazzling sweetheart table that gave a tropical air to the ambiance, all the magical décor was created by the brilliant décor team of Steven Boyle Design. The good-looking newlyweds were captured at their wedding stage by MeewMeew Studios, who also captured all the highlights of the night, including the best moments at the dance floor thanks to DJ Gaurav. Punita twirled all night all in a heavily embroidered silver gown and Rutvij looked amazing under the party lights in an elegant black tuxedo. Take a few minutes to admire all the beauty of this traditional Indian affair in Hawaiian in our full gallery!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I met him through a little known app called Coffee Meets Bagel. We had a lot in common and clicked immediately. I knew he was the one, because as simple as it may seem, everything was easy between us - the laughter, the smiles and just being with him.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
One of things that is on my NYC bucketlist is to have a picnic at Central Park. We tried that year, but unfortunately we could not make it happen. So instead Rutvij surprised me with a gorgeous indoor picnic (literally pinterest worthy) and then took me to a bar where all our nearest and dearest were. It was definitely one of the best nights of my life.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
The decision to have our wedding in Hawaii was a very personal one. A few years ago, I lost my mother. One of the last conversations I shared with her, we talked about my to-be wedding day and she told me to have a small destination wedding in Hawaii. I never thought we would actually end up doing our wedding here, but ultimately it seemed to in the end make the most perfect sense. I was very happy to honor her memory. My wedding planner Mira was phenomenal and really helped us throughout the process. My wedding went so smoothly because of her, and I am so grateful for that.

Hair and makeup was a bit difficult for me, and I had several trials in Hawaii. In the end, I wanted someone I could trust, and had worked with Indian brides before. From my friends, I found Susmita and ultimately I'm so glad I hired her because the one thing I never stressed about during my wedding events was my hair and makeup. She was always on top of it.

I researched a great deal to determine what outfits I wanted. I had the general theme for each outfit in mind, the hard part was finding it. I tried looking locally without success, so took a week to do my wedding shopping in India. It was probably the most stressful part of this entire process, but in the end it all worked out.

Because it was a destination wedding, it was very important to me that that my guests have a great time. This included music with a great DJ, a great atmosphere and obviously delicious food as well as drinks. My decor themes were already decided ahead of time (with a little help with pinterest). I wanted the welcome party to be a Hawaiian-esque, the sangeet to be filled of color, as an ode to my culture and the wedding to be filled of soft peach and pink colors to backdrop the ocean and my reception was purple, turquoise and gold - peacock colors essentially.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I had the color peach in mind. I really wanted to move away from traditional red. It is a destination wedding after all and I envisioned that color to look really beautiful in an outdoor wedding. I tried on many, many dresses. It was a back and forth, but my mind always came back to this dress.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
I really enjoyed every part of the planning process to be honest. It was really a labor of love, because this was not only a celebration of two people in love but two families coming together. I think the best part I would say as stressful as it was, was going wedding shopping in India. It was very chaotic, but I did it with my now mother-in-law and we really bonded through the experience.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
A lot of my guests appreciated how well planned and organized our wedding was. I was told by multiple people how this was one of the best planned weddings they went to.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Our wedding was in Honolulu which is very busy and touristy. It wasn't until our wedding morning that we were able to escape for a short time together to take pictures by the water. I remember how terrified I was, but standing on top of rocks near the water holding the hand of the man I love felt pretty incredible.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Because we were in Hawaii we wanted to make sure we included some elements of Hawaii in each of our events. Our Welcome Party was an ode to Hawaii, so we had fresh pineapples adorned on all the tables. Because our wedding was small, it was important for my guests to feel special and feel intimate. Both my husband and I greeted guests with leis as they walked in. We also had a hula dance performance.

For our sangeet, we really wanted it to feel like a festival of song and dance. We started off surprising the guests with Hawaiian fire dancers, which were amazing. Then family and friends performed dances and we capped off the night with garba and raas.

Our cocktail hour had a Hawaiian ukuele player, and was outdoors overlooking Diamond Head.

I love to dance but my husband is a bit dance-shy. However, for our wedding he agreed to take dance classes with me. For 3 months we practiced a ballroom dancing and salsa routine to perform as our first dance. It was definitely challenging, but I am so glad we were able to do it.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
First and foremost, stay organized and rally in as much support as you can. Do your research with vendors, ask necessary questions and perhaps talk to others who have hired them to get an idea. It is definitely stressful, and easy to get lost in the details. In those moments, remember what your wedding really is about: you and your significant other.

Happy wedding Wednesday, loves!
