Charlotte, NC Indian Wedding by Bhowmik Dave Photography

Hello, Maharanis! We are wrapping up Sima & Anand's love story by taking a look at their reception party held at the Le Méridien Charlotte. We are sure you are going to love it, and you are going to take a lot of inspiring ideas from it! When Sima & Anand started planning this reception party, they knew what they wanted: they wanted it to be elegant, luxurious, and magical. Because of it, they decided to bring Sonaa Weddings & Events onboard as they are well known for making dreamy events come to life. And by taking a look at the incredible shots taken by Bhowmik Dave Photography, we can agree that they nailed it! This mesmerizing reception exceeded all expectations and turned out to be amazing! The fantastic decor that Carolina Wedding Belle put together for this event left us speechless! It was so magical and charming that it seemed out of this world! No wonder why everyone enjoyed every bit of this event! One of the most anticipated moments of the evening took place when our lovebirds had their first dance as husband and wife. All the attendants delightfully witnessed how the newlyweds danced to the beat of the most beautiful melodies played by DJ IMALLIN and enjoyed a fabulous dinner thanks to District Events & Catering. All of the guests had a great time while celebrating with Sima & Anand. However, the night was coming to an end when our lovebirds had the first cut at the cake. This was the perfect end for the wedding festivities that marked the start of a lifetime of marriage for Sima & Anand. If you want to relieve this entire wedding celebration, don't forget to take a look at today's gallery! It is worth to be seen!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We originally met through Dil Mil, which surprisingly worked for us pretty quickly. Anand was actually one of the first that I matched with on the app. I was new to the city and had not met many Indians yet. One of my best friends, Sarah, encouraged me to get on the app to at least start the process of meeting people. It was fate that within a month of me hopping on the app, Anand and I went on our first date. We hit it off very well! After the first date, we continued to talk and meet up often (sometimes up to 3 or 4 times in a week). That’s when we really knew that we were right for each other. After 9 months of dating, our parents had already met. We were flying by then!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
The proposal was a complete surprise as Anand originally asked me on a trip to India to go to one of his best friend’s wedding. Through that, he convinced me for a stop in Italy. We chose Rome to travel for a few days before heading to India. We landed that morning in Rome, checked into our Airbnb and immediately were dressed to go out on the town. He took me to a few sight-seeing places, one park in particular in which Anand was checking his phone a lot. I wasn’t sure what was going on but continued to enjoy the views. Eventually, he took me to a lookout spot called Terrazza Viale del Belvedere, where many other people were around taking pictures. There was also a man playing an electronic piano, which was actually unplanned but a very nice touch! He kneeled down and popped the question. Little did I realize (until a bit later when she introduced herself), there was a photographer Anand was coordinating with to time out the proposal pictures. I was certainly shocked and a bit surprised as bystanders all stopped and watched the proposal — super filmy! After I said “YES”, the photographer took us all around for pictures for the next few hours. We ended the day with a wonderful dinner with my favorite red wine. It was truly magical.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Wedding planning started early (at least for the venue) because we wanted to utilize a long weekend for the wedding. We were both set on having our wedding and reception on separate days. After seeing so many weddings where the bride and groom struggle to wake up early and endure the chaos of the two large events all in one day, we were willing to sacrifice on some things so that we could have a nice relaxed itinerary.

Venue:
Venues are pretty easy to find in Charlotte, but to find one with an Event Manager that you click well with is difficult. After meeting Alice at the Le Meridien in Charlotte uptown, we were set on her management style. She was on top of everything but also very flexible in the contract and other requests we made. She was so easy to work with and did a lot to help plan and execute each event. The hotel overall was also perfect for our needs. The ballrooms were kept up so well and the staff was very accommodating.

Outfits:
All of our outfits came from various stores throughout Mumbai. We went to India for wedding shopping about 4-5 months earlier altogether with our families. It was a tight schedule but we were able to coordinate our outfits very well! I originally wanted to go with a dark red velvet, traditional outfit. However, after trying on this particular outfit, I completely switched my mind and went with the ivory for the wedding ceremony. It turned out to fit very well with the blush outfit Anand has his mind set on. I changed my veil to be blush to match his - we were very happy with how it turned out. For garba, we certainly wanted bright colors to contrast with the soft colors we had for the wedding. For the reception, we definitely went a little more mainstream with the navy and gold theme, but we couldn’t help it that both of our all-time favorite color is actually blue! We were fine with being a little more common on that aspect.

Hair/Makeup:
At first, hair and makeup was a bit difficult for me to find. I went to a few vendors that others had mentioned me to, but they either ended up being booked up or out of the bridal business, unfortunately. Eventually, with the help of our amazing Event Coordinating team (Sonaa Events), I found Meliha Custovic (A.K.A. The Beauty Fairy)! Meliha and her team are amazing. She did so many trials for the ladies on both the of our sides, and she listened to everyone requests well. We had no doubts of her talent! Throughout the weekend, her and her team was on time and communicated with us very well. This made each experience so fun and easy. She’s super friendly and was a blast to work with! I definitely recommend her to anyone and would advise to trust her fully because she really knows what she’s doing! All I did for each event was show her my outfit and she went from there.

Theme:
Our theme for each event was simple. We had a Welcome Night for some of our close family and friends. This event was held at a lounge in the hotel, which actually had a pool with surrounding cabanas. This made us immediately think of a Hawaiian/white-out type of theme.

Our Mandvos were separate - Anand was at his house and I was at the Le Meridien as my parents house is in the Midwest. We went traditional for both of our Mandvos. I was able to utilize the hotel rooftop for mine, which was great for pictures with downtown views in the background!

For Garba Night, we wanted to go all-out in colors. We even had different colors throughout the ballroom — from the stage to the table cloths to the spritzers and gola! We also loved the idea of food stations for Garba Night, which was well implemented by our decorator and caterer.

The wedding decor just played off of our outfits, so it ended being light and elegant. We wanted a very clean look to complement well. We actually stumbled upon a stage that was made in the center of the ballroom with a halo of flowers hanging above. We used this as inspiration to have a hanging mandap. Our decorator, Rahma (from Carolina Wedding Belle), really made our dream come alive. She created our hanging mandap especially for us! It was beautiful. We loved having something so different from the normal stage setup along one wall in which the furthest guests can never see what’s going on during the ceremony.

Lastly, our reception was completely navy, gold and ivory. All we told the decorator was that we wanted something different and fresh. We were impressed when Rahma came up with the idea of offset backdrop filled with flowers! It turned out so well!

After the wedding of Priyanka and Nick, I was obsessed with the idea of having a logo. We found one and put it in a few different places throughout the weekend — you can mainly see it on stage for the Garba & Reception. My father was able to figure out how to get the logo cut out on a large piece of acrylic within the last few weeks right before the wedding. Rahma incorporated that last minute detail so well on both of the stages. We were very pleased with it! However, our audio-visual team created our gobo based off of the logo as well. It was displayed in all three events.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The planning process was crazy! We were truly overwhelmed at many points, but I think it’s really important to go through all that to see truly how compatible you are together. You really do find out a lot about each other and about the families as well. It’s an interesting process. He’s great at calling up vendors, negotiating and removing any issues. I’m good at all the small details, making schedules and lists, following up on action items. It worked out well for us! Towards the 2-3 month mark, I actually became super busy at work. Anand stepped up without asking and took over a lot of the items around that time. I was really grateful for that!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our guests actually talked about so many different parts of our wedding — we heard great things! Overall, everyone just noticed how much effort we put into every detail. This was really nice to hear because we were going crazy with all the planning just a few months earlier. It was nice to see our work appreciated.

One thing in particular really stood out to everyone, and it was actually coordinated only within two weeks of the wedding — our Baraat dance. It was to Aankh Marey. We wanted it to be super Bollywood and it kind of turned out that way! Anand and I created the dance video and sent it out to our bridesmaids and groomsmen only a week and a half before the wedding weekend. They were all troopers and came through to make the dance look so good! We didn’t think too much about it after it was over, as we were mainly thinking about the ceremony itself. However, weeks (and even months) after the wedding, all anyone could talk about was the dance. We had some guests that sent us videos of the performance from various angles, and that’s all we could watch for a few weeks. Now, anytime the song comes on, we break out the moves! I’ve even had some friends send me screenshots of them listening to the song and tell me that they’re reminiscing the weekend. It was a surprisingly special moment for everyone.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
We had a Welcome Night for some of our close family and friends. This event was held at a lounge in the hotel, which actually had a pool with surrounding cabanas. This made us immediately think of a Hawaiian/white-out type of theme. We had drinks, light food and dancing all night! It was a great way to start the weekend.

Our Mandvos were separate - Anand was at his house and I was at the Le Meridien as my parents house is in the Midwest. We went traditional for both of our Mandvos. I was able to utilize the hotel rooftop for mine, which was great for pictures with downtown views in the background!

Lastly, our reception was completely navy, gold and ivory. All we told the decorator was that we wanted something different and fresh. We were impressed when Rahma came up with the idea of offset backdrop filled with flowers! It turned out so well!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Plan as much as you can beforehand but then do NOTHING the week of. So long as you have given out the tasks and made the requests, you cannot do more than that. And seriously, get a professional day-of coordinator at minimum. Even with a small wedding, you can’t do it all yourself. Stressing out will ruin your experience. You want to be in the moment, enjoy every small piece.

That is all for today. We are looking forward to seeing you tomorrow for a new love story. Until then, have a great day!

And we love how each ceremony honored the bride and groom's culture, faith and above all, their love for each other! And we know that planning a wedding ceremony is not easy, let alone plan two wedding ceremonies! So we want to make a big shoutout to Posh Kreations LLC for the perfect planning and Aisha’s Wedding Decor for the splendid decor of both these life-changing events. The attention to details they had was outstanding, resulting in the dreamy events that Aditi & Peter always imagined. And talking about these lovebirds, they both attended their wedding ceremonies looking flawless and irradiating a lot of happiness that is contagious. For the Hindu ceremony, they embraced a traditional look and ended up looking like the prince and princess of an Indian fairytale. Aditi looked flawless in her ruby lengha thanks to Looks by Jassi who took care of her styling and makeup needs. Tarrytown, NY Indian Wedding by John Martin Productions

Good Morning, Maharanis! The weekend is approaching fast, and there is no better way to prepare than taking a look at the captivating wedding celebration of Ditiksha & Rickin. Today’s wedding is one we couldn't wait to share with you as there are endless amounts of inspiring ideas brimming from this fantastic event. This couple’s wedding celebration incorporated a colorful and vibrant sangeet night that opened the doors to the wedding festivities. This pre-wedding ceremony was a cornucopia of Indian traditions intermixed with modern-day entertainment perfectly orchestrated by Euphoria Events, who took care of the planning and execution. Without any question, this Sangeet ceremony is like one we haven't seen in quite a while, and we were utterly blown away by the extensive attention to detail. Ditiksha & Rickin embraced a traditional style and attended this event elegantly and fashionably. But it was our lovely Maharani who stole all the looks! We are green with envy by just taking a look at how gorgeous she looked in the yellow lengha she wore for her Sangeet night. Makeup By Karishma was the mastermind behind this breathtaking look, and they also took care of this Maharani's makeup and hairstyle needs. If you are a Maharani seeking inspiration for your big day, you cannot miss today's gallery! The images captured by John Martin Productions will make your inspiration fly, and they will give you a sneak peek of things to come! So don't miss it out!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Rickin and I met through Coffee Meets Bagel in August 2016. We finally had our first date in September 2016 and officially started dating in January 2017. I was in nursing school and super stressed out but he always made sure to make me his priority. On days I would have exams he would wake up at 5 am and come to the Grand Central from Jersey to take me to Brooklyn just to make sure I had breakfast before my exam. This ended up becoming a thing and right before one of my finals I was in the subway and the song Dil Mera by RDB came on and it hit me, he was the one! At our reception, he actually did a surprise performance to this song!

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
I lived in NY and he lived in NJ so in order to meet up we always met up at Grand Central Terminal. April 14 is his parents anniversary and his uncle’s birthday so he told me we would have a surprise party for them in the city. So we all dressed up and I went to the city with my parents, brother, and grandparents. And just like he always waited for me in Grand Central, he was there, only this time he had our close friends and family spell out “Will You Marry Me?” and all of the commuters that say behind him in anticipation (about 250+ people were crowded around). He brought me to the center of the Grand Concourse and dropped down on one knee and asked me to marry him. I always told him I would say no so I said “yea buddy” instead which he is known for saying!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Since my name is Ditiksha and my now husbands name is Rickin we came up with the hashtag RickSha, we a few ricksha themed details going on an entire day! When looking at venues, Tarrytown DoubleTree really stuck out to us because the venue had a different feel about it, once you enter it felt very rustic but in a chic way and we really enjoyed that! As far as our vendors go, we wanted to have a team we could fully trust! Karishma Mehta I’d Make Up by Karishma I’ve been eyeing her Instagram since 2012 when we first met, so I knew I definitely wanted her to get me glammed up on my big day! As for my Mehndi, being a henna artist myself I really wanted someone who would do a great job and something different, when I first started doing henna, Shilpa Sharma from Henna by Shilpa helped me out and gave me some amazing pointers and I’ve always admired her work! She was the first vendor I booked and she customized my henna for me so well! For decor, we heard outstanding reviews from friends and family about Wedding Design and Decor. When we first went to pick our mandap, Ravi showed us one that looked like a mahal and right away Rickin and I knew that was the one because we wanted traditional but with a twist of something more modern and unique. As for our outfits, we both had the same vision we sent pictures to our family who made it all possible! I really wanted a yellow off the shoulder outfit for my Sangeet and Rickin wanted a sophisticated blue outfit. For the wedding, we both wanted to do red and white. He wanted his to be simple with not too much going on and I wanted two dupattas and a splash of green to keep it traditional and tie it all together. For our reception look, I wanted to be shining head to toe and he wanted a custom made suit. We also had our catering from Bukhara Grill at the wedding and reception; the first time we tried their food we were blown away! They defiantly delivered their best and had a chocolate fountain set up for us! As for our DJ, Sagar Shah (DJ Tonic) we’ve been to several weddings over the years and he’s always packed out the dance floor, which is exactly what he did for ours too! He was very easy to work with and just knew the right tunes! Now to capture all of this we really wanted to pick the best photographers and videographers! We had John Martin Productions who has been amazing to work with. He did our pre-wedding shoot and he was just so easy and genuine to work with, he can make anyone look good! As for the videographer we were recommended by our good friends to Claudio of Cutting Desk Productions! He made the trip out from Florida and did an outstanding job! He and John were able to work so well with one another and make me and Rickin so comfortable on the most hectic day of our lives! Now to tie it all together we had Nadia Jagessar of Euphoria Events as our day-of coordinator. While every wedding had their hiccups, we were glad we had her and her team to help the day go by smoothly!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I always wanted mine to be red and white with just a dash of green to tie everything together. I actually did not even try on my dress until much later! My grandfather had gone to India and got me my bridal lehnga!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part was going on little trips with Rickin to figure things out such as food tastings, cake tastings, venue visits, etc. With each little detail, the wedding came more to life and it started feeling more and more real!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The guests really loved the RickSha theme and the convertible ricksha we had for the Baraat and Vidaii! They also told us that the food and music definitely made the night! We also had popcorn boxes with our caricatures on them which also was an itinerary of the Hindu wedding ceremony, the guests said they enjoyed eating the popcorn but also loved following along with the wedding ceremony! During the cocktail hour we lined up toy rickshas, each toy ricksha was the table number for all of our guests. The kids and adults had a blast playing with their toy rickshas and said it was a unique twist to the traditional table seatings.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
There are several! The one that stands out to me the most is when I walked down the aisle with my mamas, it was such an emotional time for me and I tried my best to hold back tears all up to the point when we reached the mandap and I looked up and the first person I saw was my brother and he was tearing up. He gave me a little nod and gave me the strength to go up to the mandap. Then the Anterpat was dropped and there was my groom waiting for me! It was the most surreal feeling ever!

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
For our sangeet, I really wanted a colorful and fun atmosphere! For this, I had my family and friends decorate it! We had a swing from Wedding Design and Decor and the rest was very colorful with pink and orange everywhere! As for the music, DJ Tonic played Garba and Raas and towards the end played some good old Raghav, Jay Sean and all those songs from back in the day! For our Haldi ceremonies Rickin and I both had specific outfits we wanted to wear. He wanted a Biggie shirt, which is exactly what he wore during his Haldi and I wanted a dhoti sari by the designer Nikasha! We also had a few surprise dances during our reception! One included all of my cousins and my aunts and uncles, I jumped in halfway and then dragged Rickin up to the dance floor! Another surprise dance was done by Rickin and his cousins, he did dil mera (which mentioned earlier was a huge song for our relationship)!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
While wedding planning is stressful, always remember to enjoy it no matter what. It’s easier said than done but soak it all in! On my wedding day I told myself I would not stress everything will work out... and it does! I can still close my eyes and remember the vibes, decor, emotions all of it and I’m so happy I took in those moments to soak it in!

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
We had a few details I wanted to share! One as I mentioned earlier was the convertible ricksha for the baraat and vidaii (thanks to Rags to Rickshaw)! Another was these popcorn boxes we had custom made; one side was a caricature of us in our wedding outfits while the other sides served as the itinerary of the wedding and the bridal party. We filled these up with popcorn and chocolates for the guests to enjoy during the wedding; one was placed on each seat. For our table seatings, we decided to order toy rickshas and placed each guests name and table number on them. This kept the kids busy and the adults seemed to love playing with them too! As for my jewelry, I had a nose ring custom made from India which had a pop of green to highlight the small green border in my bridal lehnga! My Mehndi was also customized and it showcased our whole story! On my left arm, I had a ricksha with a bride and groom sitting inside, a stethoscope to represent my career in nursing and a traditional Hindu bride. On my right hand, I had the NYC skyline, a gavel to represent Rickin’s career as an attorney with the writing #TLinNY which stands for Top Litigator in NY (he goes around saying this to everyone) and a traditional Hindu groom. We also hid Rickin’s name in both English and Gujarati and he surprisingly found both! As for our cake, we had gotten it from Lulu’s in Westchester and it was to die for! We had 4 tiers with 4 different flavors ( carrot cake, red velvet, mudslide, and vanilla); it was white with a gold border and a few subtle flowers to match our background and outfits! I also wanted to mention our outfits for our bridal party! We had a huge bridal party of 15 groomsmen, 2 best men, 14 bridesmaids and 2 maids of honor. We had all of their outfits custom made from India and they all came out great! We went with a royal purple and gold theme! While we had red and white during the wedding, we followed through with the royal purple and gold theme for the evening which was great in contrast to our outfits; I had a blush peach and silver lengha and Rickin has a gray suit and blush peach tie! Another thing that was very important to us was our wedding garlands, my family friend hand made them for us with fresh flowers!

A beautiful and captivating wedding ceremony is waiting for you, so don't forget to check it out!

Huntington Beach, CA South Asian Wedding by Dove Weddings

Welcome back, Maharanis! We are wrapping up Priyanka & Pratik's love story by taking a look at the elegant reception party held inside the halls of the Hilton Waterfront Beach Resort. This reception party followed the line of the previous events that we already saw and turned out to be amazing! But there is no surprise here as our lovebirds decided to bring First Pick Planning on board to plan and execute this event. Once again, this talented team exceeded all expectations with a fantastic gala that brought the wedding festivities to an end. The beautiful decoration that Dream Decor put together for this event created a romantic and elegant atmosphere that everyone loved. VOX DJs set the musical mood and the scheme of lights for this evening while Natraj Catering prepared tasty plates that everyone enjoyed! Priyanka & Pratik had their first dance as husband and wife right before sharing a delicious and beautiful cake from Tasty Temptations! It is time to say goodbye to this lovely couple so they can continue their journey into a happily ever after. But before we go, we wanted to do a big shoutout to Dove Weddings. This talented team worked their magic to immortalize this wedding celebration in such a fantastic way that we were blown away wit every shot. So kudos to them! If you want to relive every bit of this lovely wedding celebration, you cannot miss the gallery that we have prepared for today! Go check it out. It is worth the while!
