Chino Hills, CA Indian Wedding by Lin and Jirsa Photography

Grab your shades, Maharanis, because you are about to be blinded with the bright ceremony of Shrina and Jaydip! The magnificent outdoors of the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir served as the scenario for the meaningful ceremony that bonded the couple's lives through intricate vow exchanges, blessings, and rites that were performed under a ravishing yellow round mandap! The South Asian decor specialist, Deepti's Florals Designs & Mandaps, was behind the graceful structure and the inspiring plethora of blooms that decked the ceremony spot! The charming setting created a picturesque scene for the wonderful images that Lin & Jirsa Photography captured of the traditional union. I absolutely adore the wedding party royal blue color in the bridesmaids' sarees and groomsmen's attires that gave a rich color accent to the moment. The award-winning planners and coordinators of Platinum Dream Events delivered an extraordinary service and did an amazing job executing the couple's ideas for their big day!  Make sure to visit the gallery for a look at some portraits and even more from the glorious ceremony!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
We met about halfway through medical school. We lived in the same apartment building for over a year, but never crossed paths. He was coming back from a run, and I was taking my dog, Terry, for a walk. He ran past me but looped back to ask me if I worked at one of the local hospitals because he recognized the scrubs I was wearing as the same ones used at the hospital where he did his rotations. He ended up offering me one of his books to help me study, and I asked for his phone number so that I could "return the book".

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
It was a group effort. He surprised me at sunset on a beautiful beach in Thailand. We traveled there with our good friends, Indra and Sushma. Vaiibhav picked the ring at the location, Indra was responsible for carrying the ring through customs, and his wife Sushma coordinated the details with the resort. After the proposal, we all had dinner on the beach. I was so excited that I barely ate any of the dinner Sushma had arranged for us all.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We chose most of our vendors using personal referrals. We booked our DJ first before we even had a venue! I remember dancing at our friend's wedding a year prior when we both decided that Umesh would be our DJ if we ever got married, so of course, he was the first vendor we booked. We couldn't have asked for a better venue. The Sheraton staff and management were very accommodating and helpful every step of the way. Tina at Marigold Wedding Planners met with us many times and truly made our event feel like a priority. When we were looking for photographers we looked at countless galleries; it was so overwhelming. It wasn't until we started talking to photographers on the phone, however, that we began to feel like we would be able to choose one. Not only were Rosy and Shaun's photos absolutely beautiful, but after meeting with them we knew they were a match. They made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera, and they're the kind of people that you want to continue to see and hang out with even after the wedding is over.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
We were limited in our options because we didn't have enough vacation time to go to India. We ended up doing all of our shopping in Toronto. I absolutely fell in love with a bridal outfit on the first day of our trip, and Vaiibhav picked out an outfit at the same shop. We put in an order for customization 6 months prior to our wedding. They were supposed to be made in India and shipped to us in February. They weren't delivered to us until 2 weeks before our wedding and were torn, falling apart at the seems, stained, and didn't fit. My outfit didn't include any of the custom requests that I ordered. We had to make an emergency trip back to Toronto 10 days before our wedding where we found our dream outfits at a different store. It was a very stressful situation, but luckily everything worked out in the end.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Cake and pastry testing!  Because of cultural differences, my mom wasn't able to contribute during much of the planning process. Luckily, cakes are universal! Not only were the sweets so delicious, but the afternoon of cake testing with my mom will be a special memory that I will always cherish.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
They loved our food, especially the dosa station at our Mehndi and the chat stations at our cocktail hour.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
It was very important to me to incorporate pieces of my culture in with Vaiibhav's culture, and having my dad walk me down the aisle was a particular priority. I will never forget the way I felt walking down the aisle with my dad, as one of my favorite songs played. He is an amazing man, and I will always look up to him.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
1. Go to the bathroom before the mehndi application begins.
Don't include too many dances at the reception. After about 2-3, your guests start losing interest.
Pick out your outfits at least 6 months ahead of time, and tell the designer your wedding date is 1 month before the actual date to ensure your outfits are completed in time. This also will give you some extra time to do damage control if there are any issues.
4. Decide on the 4-5 things that are most important, and try not to worry about the rest.
5. Don't eat or drink after the lipstick is applied.
6. Always remember to smile!

See you all tomorrow for more wedding fun!

Cincinnati, OH Indian Wedding by Priyanca Rao Photography

I'm super excited to finally unveil the grand wedding reception of Alisha and Savio! Once again all the refinement of the Hyatt Regency Cincinnati welcomed the newlyweds and the partygoers into a lush ambiance of blush pinks and charming blooms! This time the floral mandap was transformed into an inviting sweetheart stage that covered the most splendid newlyweds' table. This romantic creation is all credited to the genius team of Weddings InStyle,  while the four-tier wedding cake displayed was a creation of the bakery crew at The BonBonerie. I love Maharani's Alisha sleek side-swept curls, navy blue attire and dazzling jewelry set and also love Savio's enchanting black tux. Another great element is the custom made dance floor that Elephant Head Graphics created for the party and where our happy new Mr. and Mrs. danced the night away with the lively music from Opening Minds Entertainment's turntables! This unforgettable event was another big success for Sonal J Shah Events who masterfully executed this soiree to perfection. For all the inspiring details from this stunning event, head into The Best of 2018 edition and the complete gallery by Priyanca Rao Photography!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Savio and I met when I went to visit one of my good friends in Cincinnati, where I had lived previously. We hit it off, and began dating long distance! I knew Savio was "the one" when I never got tired of spending time with him. I can be introverted and re-energize with alone time, but I actually felt better and more energized after I spent time with him. He felt like family to me.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Savio proposed in Hyde Park in Cincinnati closeby where we had first met. We were at a get together with some of our friends when he suggested that we live to get ice cream at a local ice cream spot nearby. I thought that was peculiar for him but we both loved this place so we went. Shortly after we shared our banana split, Savio got on one knee and proposed. It was very special! We spent the rest of the weekend celebrating with our friends and family.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Upon starting the wedding planning journey, I knew I needed someone who had good taste, direction, and choices. I was in the midst of my busy fellowship and did not live in the same city as my parents so I knew planning was going to be a bit of a challenge. After doing some research, we reached out to Sonal Shah who really vibed well with all of us. I knew that we wanted to get married in Cincinnati, Ohio because it was where we met and got engaged. Sonal provided excellent options for both local and non-local vendors.

What was really special about my hair and makeup was that my mom had been getting names and numbers of vendors even 10 years before I was engaged. Karuna Chani had come to Cincinnati, Ohio from NYC many years ago for a wedding, and my mom got her card. She still had Karuna's card and we called her up and booked her ASAP. It was the best decision we made because she showered my mom and me with positive vibes and was so much fun to get ready with. Every look that I had was exactly as I had wanted it, and I let her take the creative initiative with each step.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
My mom and I went to India to select my wedding clothes. Actually, because I was in the midst of fellowship, I only had 4 days in India. We had very productive days and made it happen in just a few days! I knew I wanted a red Sabyasachi gown before even going to India. The dress I chose was the first one I set my eyes on in the store. It was the best experience.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable process of planning was spending time with my parents. We talked on the phone very often, and I was lucky because my mom took the initiative on most of the planning. She coordinated with Sonal and all the vendors. Going to India with them was so much fun, and I will never forget how we worked hard together to create a magical weekend, and it was exactly that! We were not stressed or worried about the whole weekend because we knew Sonal and her team had everything in control going forward.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
My guests loved the food, dancing, and overall ambiance of the wedding. I heard the cocktail hour was amazing with Dave Sharma on the electric tabla!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The most special moment that plays in my mind was our first look. Priyanca picked out the most beautiful and scenic spot in downtown Cincinnati with a portrait of a woman in the background. The look on his face and spending that time alone together was my favorite.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
My words of wisdom would - enjoy the process! It goes so quickly, and it can be stressful at times, but hire your vendors early on and have a good wedding planner.  Your weekend will then be amazing and unforgettable!

See you soon!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
I was introduced to him by family friends, who thought we would be great for each other. Two weeks and several phone calls later, Vishal claims he knew I was the one he was going to spend the rest of his life with. For me, it took a little longer. I would like to think that I’m a fairly reserved person. But after meeting with Vishal just a couple of times, he had me spilling my secrets. He just had a certain 'Je ne sais quoi' that I fell for. I feel like I definitely took a shot in the dark with Vishal but I'm so glad I made it. The single best decision of my life.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
At the time, Vishal lived in Houston, and I was in OKC. Vishal planned a trip to New Orleans since neither of us had been before. The plan was for me to fly there and Vishal was going to drive because it was only a 4-hour drive from Houston. Plans were almost cancelled because hurricane Harvey was supposed to hit Houston the day he was leaving. I pleaded with him to reschedule the trip, but he was adamant about meeting this specific weekend. I was so angry and confused about him being so stubborn and I was scared at the thought of him driving through a hurricane.

When we both made it to NOLA safely, he had an entire day worth of a treasure hunt around the city planned for me. It included places to eat, drink, and tourist attractions! Geocaching was something we enjoyed together and he said that he thought it would be fun to make one personally for me. The last stop on the treasure hunt was on this small stone bridge in this beautiful park where he let me struggle to find some sort of treasure that he had hidden. After struggling and finding nothing, I turn around and he’s on his knee with a ring in his hand! Of course, I said yes and hysterically awed at my ring before giving him a huge hug (which btw he won't let me live down)! I didn’t know it at the time, but he had hired a professional photographer that was hiding behind one of the bushes nearby. I don’t think I could ever forget that wonderful day!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable part of the planning process for me was getting to spend time with my mom and being able to plan my wedding with her.  There were so many days that became emotional and stressful but there were SO many more days where we just laughed and had a great time. She's been by my side since day one and did everything to make this THE wedding of my dreams.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
If I had to pick one, It would have to be the reception. Our DJ (DJ Riz) was amazing and the dance floor was packed from the very beginning until the very end.  He kept the party going with his great selection of songs and his contagious energy. It felt like a true party. Family and friends would not stop talking about it for weeks!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
By far the most special moment during the wedding festivities took place the night before our wedding. I was exhausted and getting ready to go to bed, trying to shoo my cousins out of my room. Just as I was finally able to get the room to myself, I got a call from Vishal and he told me to come outside because he needed to drop off some stuff for the ceremony. He had his car parked in a corner, attempting to be discrete and not be seen by any of my family. I figured I’d pick up the items and head to bed since we had a big day tomorrow. We ended up sitting in the car and talking about things that we don’t even remember anymore. We completely lost track of time. After an hour or so, we decided we better get some sleep before we both missed the ceremony the next morning! We said our good nights and I took the box and went to my room. To my surprise, I opened the box and it was empty! I don't know why this particular moment meant so much to me, but it just did.

Hurry back loves, all the ceremony deets are just around the corner!
