Pittsburgh, PA Indian Fusion Wedding by Jorge Santiago Photo

Welcome back, beauty queens! We are wrapping up Tara & Casey's wedding celebration by taking a look at an elegant and luxurious reception party hosted inside the halls of the Omni William Penn Hotel. For this closing gala, both our lovebirds attended looking elegantly and fashionably; however, it was Tara who stole the show! She wore a blue-hued trendy gown from Tarun Tahiliani's collection, very well complemented with the nude makeup and wavy hairstyle designed by Payal Patel. The whole night was a cornucopia of elegance and amazingness designed by Pearl Celebrations and decored by Imperial Decor. This winning combination delivered nothing but perfection throughout the entire festivities, and we are lucky enough fo being able to lay our eyes on their fabulous work. All the guests enjoyed the evening and danced the night away to the beats of Dhoom Events, right before tasting the culinary experience prepared by Taj Mahal and Udipi Cafe. One of the most memorable and romantic moments of the evening took place when our handsome Raja surprised his now-wife with a fabulous performance in which he played the piano while Tara's cousins accompanied him on the guitars. Hands down, a beautiful and unforgettable moment that got captured by Jorge Santiago Photo. In between dancing, chatting, and sweet pieces of the delicious cake baked by Tasty Bakery, the night got to an end. But, remember that you can always relive this beautiful wedding celebration by taking a peek at the full gallery that we have prepared for today!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Casey and I met working together in a medical office while both applying to medical school. One month after we started dating, we were accepted to different medical schools, and had to spend the next 4 years living in different states. The fact that he was so willing to put in the effort to make a long distance relationship work while going through med school made me realize very early on that he was the one. We went through the residency match process and were lucky enough to match in the same city, and shortly afterwards got engaged! We make each other laugh about the smallest things, and he always boosts my self confidence just when I need it!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I am South Indian, and I knew I wanted to incorporate South Indian traditions with elements of a Western wedding as well. While my hometown of Pittsburgh is a wonderful city, it doesn't offer the variety of vendors that bigger cities do. For that reason, I used several vendors based in larger cities like DC and NYC and was very happy with how everything turned out. Casey's family is not Indian, and so we wanted a wedding that was festive but also felt warm and inclusive. We think we achieved that with the help of our fantastic vendors!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
Casey and I traveled to India with my parents to do all of our shopping. I knew I wanted a hybrid of South Indian, North Indian, and Western looks for the wedding events, and we were fortunate to travel to different parts of India to achieve this. I found my bridal sari, a red traditional South Indian silk sari, in Bangalore, and my Sangeet lengha at a boutique in Delhi. While I love the blush and neutral tones that are really popular with brides, I wanted something a little different for my reception look, and when I saw my blue Tarun Tahiliani gown, I thought it was perfect. I loved how unique it was with its striking color and full skirt, and it made me feel so special!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Of course we are biased, but our family and friends really had amazing speeches that left us, and our guests, crying with laughter. Also, I have a huge sweet tooth and really wanted a big dessert spread, which ended up being a big hit!

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Casey plays the piano really well, and he knows how much I love it when he plays. It's also hard for him to ever surprise me with anything. I was completely shocked when in the middle of our wedding reception, Casey and two of my cousins, Reka and Ashwin, surprised me with a performance, with singing, guitar playing, and Casey on the piano! They had secretly rehearsed via FaceTime for weeks without my knowing, and I was blown away by their thoughtfulness and talent! It was so special and I felt so lucky to have such a great family (and an amazing new husband)!

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
Our families are very important to us, and my wedding ceremony jewelry reflected this. My paternal grandfather is no longer living, but prior to his passing had gifted me with gold that was then turned into the Mangalsutra, my wedding chain, that Casey placed around my neck to signify our marriage. The other necklace I wore was a gift from my maternal grandfather. It was really special to have reminders of my grandparents' love during our ceremony!

Our venue, the Omni William Penn Hotel, is one of the oldest hotels in Pittsburgh. We especially loved the elegance of our reception site, the Grand Ballroom, which has a beautiful gold balcony. Our wedding ceremony was held in another room in the hotel that has a very unique art deco vibe. We wanted a venue that had three distinct event spaces for our three main wedding events, and were lucky to find it in the Omni! We wanted our cake to match the elegance of the venue, and Tasty Bakery more than delivered! We loved the combination of gold leaf with the textured gold base and maroon flowers, and it truly matched the aesthetic we were going for.

Today's story has come to an end, but don't forget to join us tomorrow for more!

Happy Thursday, Maharanis! This week is almost slipping through our fingers, and we don't want it to be over without sharing Anchal & Michael's big wedding festivities with you. So, sit back, relax, and get ready to enjoy this life-changing event! We are starting by taking a look at a romantic outdoor photoshoot leading to a Sangeet party filled with merriment, traditions, and colors. For the outdoor photoshoot, Carretto Studio Photography demonstrated why they are the go-to-guys when trying to immortalize your wedding events in the most beautiful way. They captured fabulous shots filled with so much flair and emotions that we can't stop seeing! Without any question, it was the perfect preamble before heading over to the NEO on Locust to enjoy a mesmerizing Sangeet party thoroughly planned and designed by Tiffany Halkitis. This Sangeet was one to remember thanks to Flowers to the People, who created a minimalist yet on-point decor featuring bright and colorful linens to set the mood for this event! There was so much beauty all over the place, but nothing quite as beautiful as our gorgeous Ancha! She burst into the room, looking like a princess from a fairytale, after being pampered by Danielle Style. And oh boy, we were speechless with her final look! If you want to take a closer look at this pre-wedding ceremony, don't miss today's gallery! You will love it!

Somerset, NJ Indian Wedding by Priyanca Rao Photography

Hello there, darlings! We know that you couldn't resist it! You were so captivated by Shaza & Shivam's love story that you couldn't wait to check more about it. So, there is no need to keep on waiting as we are back with more details of this life-changing event. This time, we will be joining our lovebirds at The Marigold for an elegant reception party you are going to love. As soon as everyone stepped into the halls of this venue, they were captivated by the incredible decor crafted by Partyland Sajawat. The purple and golden hues, the dim lights, and the fancy chandeliers created a magical atmosphere more than suitable for this closing gala. All the guests had a great time dancing to the beats of Powerhouse DJ's and tasting the delicious plates prepared by Moghul Caterers right before having a bite at the sweet desserts from Radhika Chinai. The whole night was a huge success, and we want to make a big shoutout to Priyanca Rao Photography for the fantastic shots captured nor only during this event, but throughout the entire wedding festivities! They are so amazing that the pages of our Best of 2019 Magazine deluge with the images of this magical and unique celebration! How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Senior year of high school, a friend of mine was at my house in mid March. We were 17 and thinking about prom. Who we wanted to go with, what color we would wear, when is the earliest we could go shopping for a dress. That same day, my friend used my phone to call her friend Shivam. He had gotten into a minor car accident earlier that day.

The next day (now having his phone number), I decided to text and check up on him. From that moment on, we didn’t stop talking. And nearly 12 years later here we are!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
This may sound crazy, but in hindsight, I planned our wedding around the three layer pearl and gold necklace I wore on my wedding day. My Nana Jaan (maternal grandfather) gifted it to my mother and she wore it on her wedding day. From the moment I saw it, I could see myself walking towards my future husband wearing something that is so special to me. Because of the style of the necklace, I knew I wanted our wedding to be very traditional, classy, and slightly Mughal.

I’m shocked at how everything fell into place so perfectly. We picked the Marigold as our wedding venue exactly six months before the reception date and the mehndi venue just three months before the event date. Then came my clothes.

For my makeup, I had reached out to Mona Chebli and Priyanka Babariya. Mona has done nearly all my friends wedding makeups in the past, and Priyanka has done my makeup for a photo shoot years ago so I knew I could trust them both. One thing I am happy about is choosing two different makeup and hair stylists. Mona loves a very glowy, shimmery, ethereal look which worked out perfectly for my mehndi hair and makeup, while Priyanka knew exactly what I wanted when all I told her was “dark brown smoked out sultry eyes and a neutral lip”. Kinza Amer is another person I blindly trusted to do my reception hair. I showed her just one picture five minutes before getting started and I couldn’t have asked for a better look.

Lastly, our decor was done by Partyland Sajawat. It is run by a mother-daughter team. Sachi is the extremely creative daughter. She's all about new concepts and not reusing old designs. We wanted the three arches and she had them custom made for us exactly how we wanted. Sachi did the most elaborate work compared to other decorators and she actually took the time to sketch out our vision, whereas the others just scrolled through their photo albums to show us what they've done in the past. Our decor was 100% customized by us and Sachi.

Our overall experience was not so bad considering we chose to plan three big events in just six months and we proudly did it all on our own, without a planner. We are lucky to have amazing friends and family who helped with so many of the little details that helped in a tremendous way.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
For the mehndi lehnga, I chose to go with Mohsin Naveed Ranjha. I chose each of the three pieces separately and the end result was simply stunning. My earrings were from BlossomBox which had arrived just the morning of the event! And the matha patti and jade ring were borrowed from my childhood friend and maid of honor.

My reception gown was much harder to select. I had seen a beautiful mauve pink shade that I loved and knew that it would look beautiful as a fitted gown with a long train, covered in silver bead work. After rummaging through countless websites, Instagrams and Facebook pages of designers, I reached out to Marium from @theluxurious786. I was a little apprehensive to trust someone with my reception gown, but Marium came with rave reviews. I sent Marium the style I wanted along with the mauve shade and from that minute on I blindly trusted her to work her magic. The gown was exactly what I had hoped for and the intricate beadwork was exquisite.

Both my mehndi lehnga and reception gown came on the Wednesday before the weekend of our events, which could be quite stressful, but I know in the end everything works out if it’s meant to, and in this case it did!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Customizing absolutely everything! When does one ever get a chance to have a 450 person event where every detail is created by them? I grew up drawing and painting and I now create custom cakes as a creative outlet. From making mehndi thaalis to sketching my wedding gown, every detail of our wedding screamed Shaza & Shivam. Working together to create the wedding of our dreams was an incredible process.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Take a second during your wedding to step back from the friends and family and photographs and take it all in. All those months of planning go by in the blink of an eye. Don’t sweat the little details, and give people the benefit of the doubt when you think they’re not stepping up to help you.

That is all for today, darlings! Have a great reast of the day!

For the footwear department, she went for a stylish pair of shoes from Jimmy Choo's collection, and oh boy, we loved the final look! Raja Shivam did not stay behind and followed the line of elegance set by his now-wife, and wore a navy blue suit from Suit Supply, very well complemented with elegant Gucci shoes.
