Houston, Texas Indian Wedding by Bella Lumi

Welcome back to the last installment of Anjani and Vishal's wedding bash! From her glittering bridal wear to the sensational decor, this bride most certainly channeled her inner Queen. We are obsessing over Anjani’s navy and blush lehenga covered in a myriad of dazzling embroidery. Add in shiny locks and bombshell makeup by Fashion Face, and we are feeling some major bridal inspo! The ballroom at the Omni Houston was dripping with dazzle, decorated by the talented team from Decor One by Nalini. From the luscious floral centerpieces, sequined linens, to the lux wall of blooms, this ambiance was truly magnificent. Anjani told us, “My favorite part was walking out of the ballroom with Vishal, looking at him, and saying "we did it!". Planning a wedding while being a first year resident was probably one of my most challenging undertakings. Despite all the meetings, food tastings, and almost losing my mind, we were able to compromise and work together to make our wedding day a huge success!” Learn more behind the scenes scoop below in our interview with Maharani Anjani. And to bask in all the loveliness from this weekend, Bella Lumi has forever memorialized the grandeur of this event in the full gallery!

Describe the proposal!

In April 2016, Vishal and I were planning on making a trip overseas before I started my residency program. The plan was to fly to England to visit his extended family. My dad dropped us off at the airport and during check-in, I notice the word "Santorini" show up on the check-in screen. I was so excited I could barely contain myself, as this was the one place I've always wanted to visit! So we took a brief detour and flew to Santorini first and then to London. While in Santorini we stayed at the beautiful Canaves Resort in Oia. On 4/22/16, after a day of exploring the island, Vishal and I got ready for dinner which I was told was at a local restaurant. Instead, he led me down a path covered in rose petals to a panoramic balcony over-looking the Aegean Sea where he asked me to marry him. He even hired a private photographer to capture the proposal! I was completely taken by surprise, and of course, I said yes.

What did you like about your venue?

I liked that the venue was in central Houston which made it convenient for all of our guests. The Omni Houston was spacious and felt so inviting! I especially loved the greenery in the lobby which added to the overall ambiance.

What did you like about your wedding planner?

Rathi Menon has an incredible amount of experience with wedding planning and that is why we chose her to organize ours. We liked the way she was able to streamline the process and break down our "to do's" to make the planning less daunting.

Describe your vision/inspiration for your wedding day. Did you have a specific theme?

I love, love florals! This inspired my backdrop. I also wanted there to be a crisp and elegant feel which is why we chose peach/navy; the same colors as my reception outfit.

What was your favorite part of your wedding day?

My favorite part was walking out of the ballroom with Vishal, looking at him, and saying "we did it!". Planning a wedding while being a first year resident was probably one of my most challenging undertakings. Despite all the meetings, food tastings, and almost losing my mind, we were able to compromise and work together to make our wedding day a huge success!

Were there any new trends that you incorporated, or did you decide to go more traditional?

The actual wedding ceremony was very traditional; with all of the proper vows and customs. For the reception we were able to catch our audience by surprise when we broke out into a fun, upbeat dance routine after our first dance!

Where did you go for your honeymoon?

Hawaii - Maui and Kauai

What was the most memorable moment of your reception?

My favorite part was the food (which I finally got to eat) and dancing that ensued after the ceremony. It was so much fun letting loose and just enjoying time with my closest friends, family, and new husband on the dance floor!

Any other details we left out, special considerations, or something you want to share that made your day unique?

Our parents went above and beyond to make our wedding everything we had ever imagined. I will never forget the special father/daughter trip we made to Dubai and India for all of my outfits and jewelry. My dad put all of his work obligations aside just so he could help me find everything I envisioned. So I would like to say a big thank you to my dad for putting up with all of my bridezilla moments and an exhausting two weeks of 12 hour shopping sprees!

Have a great day lovelies!
