How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Even though I (the bride) resided in Chicago and he resides in Florida, Jaydeep and I managed to find each other on Dil Mil (I have no idea how because I thought dil mil works through your location). I actually got the app due to one of my friends who kept nagging me to check it out. I had no desire to use it because looks was important to me and I had a perception of Dil Mil as an app that did not have cute guys lol. But after a long day at work one night, I was scrolling through my phone and noticed that I still had the app. I decided to click on it to open it for the very first time. To my surprise, Jaydeep’s handsome face popped up on my screen as the first guy and I couldn’t resist but to click the checkmark. As I did that, it instantly said that we matched which meant he had already checked out my page and liked it before. I didn’t think much of it so I just left it at matched and went to bed. When I woke up the next morning, I saw that I got a message from him and ever since that day we haven’t been able to go a full day without talking to each other. I knew he was “the one” from the moment we started talking because he reminded me of my brother due to his caring nature and sense of humor. I always told everyone that I would marry someone just like my brother because there’s no one I’m closer to on this planet than him and he cares for me like no one ever has; well besides Jaydeep now. :)

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
We went to Maui, Hawaii in 2018 because I had just passed my pharmacy boards and finally became a licensed pharmacist. He knows how much work and dedication studying for those boards are because he is also a pharmacist and graduated in 2016. So because of studying, we weren’t able to see each other for 3 months (the whole summer). As a reward, he decided to plan a trip to Hawaii. There was nothing on my mind because my brain was fried from studying so the only thing I could think of was to just have a relaxing and fun trip. He told me to pack lightly and just take one nice dress for a romantic dinner which seemed fair and sounded like any other vacay we’ve taken. On our third day, it was time for our dinner. It was up in the mountains and as we entered I saw photographers and thought “aww how cute. Someone’s getting married.” Then they started clicking away pictures of us and I got kinda confused but didn’t think anything of it. I turned around to fix my purse and the moment I turned back he was on one knee and I had no words and honestly doing recall anything he said besides, “I’ve been waiting for this day forever. Will you marry me?” Then there it was, and I said yessss to forever!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
Since I had lived in Chicago for over 15 years, I have been to many weddings and knew vendors pretty well. My sister got married in 2016 and helping her with her wedding planning also made me get in contact with many of her vendors. I already knew who I was going to get with elegance decor being number one on my list due to their elegant reputation and amazing decor. I knew exactly what I wanted in my decor and when I spoke to elegance they just “got it” and understood me. I wanted an open mandap concept for the wedding ceremony so my guests can all feel part of the wedding and are not blocked off by obstructed views. Hair and makeup were done by one of the best in Chicago- makeup Bushra Abbasi and I absolutely loved her work! Enough that I’m flying her down to Florida to do my sister in laws wedding make up and hair! I loved pearl banquets lighting and twinkle lights on top so I knew I wanted to get married at pearl. We decided to keep all our events there to make it easier for guests that came in from out of town. Most of my family members reside in New Zealand and Fiji and the groom's family coming in from Florida, we had to do everything possible to make sure their transport to each event was easy and manageable.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
We went to India for our bridal shopping. I knew I wanted something different and something without borders. I also knew I didn’t want much gold in there but I had always imagined myself getting married in red. So I knew it had to be red in color. Shopping was intense because I am usually so picky with my outfits. We went around to all of India to find the perfect lengha for me. Then in Ahmedabad, we finally managed to find the one I fell in love with. It had the right amount of work on it and didn’t have much gold! It also was the perfect shade and we customized the dupatta to make it pink to match Jaydeeps outfit because I didn’t want us to be too “matchy-matchy” with us both doing red.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
When my husband told me I could do whatever I wanted with the decor since this was my expertise! Lol

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our guests loved our decor and how we managed to match our outfits so well!

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Honestly, just have fun with each event. It goes by so quick and don’t worry about outside comments or critiques. Just make sure to have fun at every event because this day will never come again.

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
My mehndi outfit was designed by me and made in India. Our red bottoms were a great pop of red at our reception.

If you thought that this was beautiful, you will be thrilled to know that this is about to get better, so stick around for more!

Romulus, MI Indian Wedding by Killer Creations

Welcome back, ladies! It is time to unveil Avni & Aseem's grand wedding reception, so get ready to have a blast! Once again, Marigold Wedding Planners worked their magic and transformed the halls of the Sheraton Detroit Metro Airport into a perfect canvas to bring the wedding festivities to an end! We love how the soft colored linens wrapped around the hall, creating a romantic environment, very well complemented with the floral arrangements! For this gala, Avni rocked a dual-tone lengha that made her look like a princess! And just in case you were wondering, she got that beautiful nude makeup from Jahura Hobby, and Hair by Aysha is responsible for the classy hairstyle. Aseem followed the line of elegance set by his wife, dressed in a black suit featuring a maroon tie that combined with Avni's outfit! Everyone had a great time and danced the night out to the rhythm of DJ Tiger, who enlivened the night with the best Bollywood hits, while Mohit served delicious plates that everyone loved! If you want to relive this entire wedding celebration, make sure to take a look at the gallery that we prepared thanks to Killer Creations Photography and Cinematography. You will love it!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Aseem and I met on Dil Mil. We talked over Facetime for a couple of months and we eventually met. From the first moment whenever we talked, our conversations flowed easily and we quickly learned that we had the goals and values. It was after the first couple of months that we both knew that we had found the one, but we knew early on that we had something special.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Aseem knew how much I love Harry Potter, so his family helped him plan a Harry Potter escape room proposal. We worked through all of the different clues and the last clue led into the proposal!

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We started with the major vendors, photographer, venue, decorator, and DJ. We talked with lots of different vendors and did thorough research before we booked anything, this was a huge part of what made our event so successful. The Detroit Metro Airport Sheraton was an amazing venue, they were able to help and work with us and every detail of the wedding. I can't stress how important it is for to work with vendors that you get along with.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
We actually drove to Toronto for me to try on different styles ahead of time because we knew that I only had 10 days to do all of my shopping in India. It was pretty obvious what I liked right away and I bought my lengha from Asopalav in Ahemdabad in the first 6 hours I was in India. The extra research really helped.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
My family and I held wedding planning meetings, with family and friends that would be helping out with various parts of the wedding week. We had meetings starting about 4 months ahead of time, but there was always a lot of food and laughter at these meetings. It helped it really feel like the wedding was coming closer and I loved spending the extra time with everyone I loved before I moved!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Guests loved that the whole weekend felt personal and intimate. From the very start we didn't want a wedding that was too large, every person invited was close to our families, this allowed us to spend time with all of the guests. Another big hit was the food, Mohit Dhawan of Punjab Sweets and Catering helped create the perfect menu and our guests are still talking about how amazing the food was during cocktail hour.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
The whole ceremony was special but it was the reception that was our favorite. Hearing everyone's speeches and seeing how much work everyone put into the performances was special. But more particularly dancing the night away with our family and friends was the best ending to an amazing weekend.

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
When it came to decor, I had ideas and Tina of Marigold Weddings really helped it come together. We wanted the whole weekend to have a bright and airy feeling and she was really able to capture that. It was also really cool that we were able to combine both Aseem's Punjabi heritage and my Gujarati one during the Garba. The groom's side entered with a Jago which was so much fun and we finished the night off with live Garba.

Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Start early! Vendors get booked early and it really helps take the stress off as you get closer to the wedding. Involve the groom, Aseem had great ideas and was a great listener when I got stressed.

We hope you have a great day, ladies! See you tomorrow!
