Philadelphia, PA Fusion Wedding by Iryna Shostak Photography

We're thrilled to share the charming tale of Lavannya & Corey's wedding, where romance blossomed amidst the splendid backdrop of Highlands Mansion and Gardens in the heart of Morris Arboretum, a perfect canvas for the floristry artistry of Wildstems. Lavannya was a vision of elegance and grace, her beauty accentuated by the expert touch of Mia Farah Beautique. The masterful planning and design by That's Darling Events wove a tapestry of charm and sophistication. The musical strains of Soda Pop Strings added an ethereal layer to the already dream-like ceremony. Stylus DJ Entertainment ensured the dance floor remained a whirl of color and happiness, reflecting the couple's blissful journey. Each frame composed by Iryna Shostak Photography is a testament to her skill in blending artistry with emotion, resulting in a visual feast that will forever remind Lavannya & Corey of their magical day. As one browses through the gallery, it becomes clear that these are not just wedding photos but timeless keepsakes, each telling a unique part of this love story. Enjoy it!

How did you meet your Groom, and when did you know he was "the one"?
Corey and Lavannya's love story began at the University of Delaware, where they both attended college. It wasn't until Lavannya's coding partner bailed on a project that Corey stepped in to help. This act of kindness sparked their friendship, which would eventually blossom into something much more.

After graduation, Corey and Lavannya found themselves working at the same company, which helped them stay close despite their busy schedules. Lavannya was smitten with Corey, but he remained completely oblivious to her feelings. It wasn't until February 2017 that they finally started dating, and the rest is history.

Lavannya wasted no time in sweeping Corey off his feet, taking him on a romantic trip through Paris, Brussels, Amsterdam, and Reykjavik just four months into their relationship. Over the last six years, they have weathered many storms together, including job changes, a pandemic, and even a home purchase. They've also traveled to more places than Corey ever thought he would.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
We went out to dinner in the city, and when we came home, the living room was filled with candles and a breathtaking flower wall filled with 1000 live roses that Corey built himself.  While we were out, Corey's friends came in and set up everything in the living room.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
We toured a lot of different types of venues, and I really fell in love with the idea of a garden wedding.  The Morris Arboretum was the first garden venue we toured, and we immediately fell in love with it.  It took us a while to find our ceremony venue, but we were very happy with The Highland Mansion and Gardens.  Both were gorgeous garden venues.

Thanks for reading, loves! I hope to see you tomorrow. We will unfold more inspiring wedding stories.

Costa Mujeres, MX Indian Wedding by Ptaufiq Photography

Hello, Maharanis! Rashi & Sunny's enchanting wedding is now live in today's Platinum Guide Blog.

photo #398957

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Sunny had planned a trip for us in July 2022 and told me to pack for a beach destination but wouldn’t tell me where exactly we’d be going. I packed as best as I could, but the curiosity was gnawing at me. The destination was finally revealed when we got to the airport: we would be going to Turks and Caicos! I was extremely surprised as I had just offhand mentioned to Sunny that this was a bucket list destination for me.

We spent three amazing days soaking in the sun, sand, and island vibes. On the final evening of our trip, Sunny mentioned that he wanted to take a walk on the beach after dinner. Our routine when we travel is to take one airpod each and listen to some of our favorite Bollywood songs. We plugged in our AirPods, clasped our hands, and walked the expanse of the beach. Sunny then led me to a beautiful, lit gazebo and asked me to close my eyes. He pulled out the ring, and the rest is history.

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I had a very specific look in mind for our wedding day. I wanted to replicate a look from a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film since period pieces are my favorite. However, after perusing all the NYC bridal stores for a lehenga, I still hadn't found "the one."

My mom and I decided to go straight to the source and take a mother-daughter trip to Delhi, India, to do all our wedding shopping. We spent 12 days in Delhi extensively searching for the perfect bridal lehenga. After scouring all the stores in Mehrauli, I found the perfect lehenga at Rimple and Harpreet.

Though I was leaning more towards staying in the pink color family, I spotted a stunning red lehenga on one of the mannequins in the store and decided to try it on just in case. As soon as I looked in the mirror, I knew I had found my dress. The intricate handwork and melody of colors absolutely took my breath away. I also loved the fact that the dress had a veil to blend in the best of Indian and American culture. My mom and I shared a look, and it was a done deal!

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Planning the songs and dances for the Sangeet for sure! Sunny and I connected on music and dancing very early on when we had started dating, so it was natural that this was our favorite element of planning. Searching for songs that we loved when we were younger and songs that were really meaningful to us was a blast! We’d be listening to songs every time we were taking a long drive or had some downtime trying to shortlist what we wanted to perform. Our families also love to dance, and seeing everyone's excitement about performing amped us up! We really appreciate the time, commitment, and dedication all of our family and friends put into making the Sangeet performances absolutely phenomenal! Not only was planning for the Sangeet our favorite part, but it was also our favorite event!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
This was the first destination wedding for many of our family members. It felt like a massive family vacation where it was nice for guests to be able to zen out and grab a drink in between wedding events. Being together in one location for the duration of the events enhanced the experience for everyone. It was nice to be able to bump into wedding guests at breakfast and lunch, catch each other by the pool or beach, and debrief about the night before.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
Sunny’s performance at the Sangeet completely blew me away! I’ve been dancing and taking Bollywood dance classes since I was very young, but that wasn’t the case for Sunny. He stepped out of his comfort zone to do a solo at the Sangeet and was extremely diligent about practicing his steps daily in the weeks leading up to the wedding. He wouldn’t even let me catch a sneak peek at all. Seeing him dance at the Sangeet was amazing! His energy and expressions reminded me of the actors dancing in Bollywood movies when I was growing up; I truly couldn’t stop smiling! When Sunny’s performance concluded, he hopped off the front of the stage and gave me a massive bear hug. This will be a moment I will cherish forever!

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Brinda and Luke met each other on the first day of college at Saint Louis University through their Presidential Scholar cohort. Brinda loved Luke’s passion for learning, and how he would spend his free time pursuing his own business with St. Louis start-ups. Luke loved Brinda’s vivacity and how she could make anyone smile – whether it was her friends, her research lab mates, or retired Jesuit priests on campus.

Brinda and Luke became fast friends. Their friendship grew over Luke cooking Brinda Michelin-quality meals in a dorm room kitchen, Brinda teaching Luke Indian dance moves, and Luke showing Brinda around his hometown of St. Louis. Luke and Brinda’s first official date was at Mad Tomato, a restaurant owned and managed by Luke’s extended family in Clayton, Missouri.

After Brinda graduated from her MBA program, Brinda and Luke moved to Chicago. Luke successfully began pursuing his own company full-time with Brinda’s utmost belief in him. Chicago brought a new community, new work, new hobbies, and better pizza (sorry St. Louis Imo’s fans).

After 8 years of shared moments, Luke asked Brinda to marry him in Kauai, Hawaii. They're excited about the life they have built, and will continue to build, together.

Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.

We knew that we wanted to get married in the Midwest so the celebrations would be accessible to our family. We fell in love with the Hilton Oak Brook Hills resort as it had different spaces for each of our events, in addition to a golf course, pickleball courts, pools, and more that all our guests could use! From there, the first vendor we booked was Luke's Baraat Horse from Maharaja Farms!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I am so lucky that both my Bengali red saree and wedding gown were designed by two of my aunts. One of my aunts owns the boutique Risa Designs by Sanchita and gifted me the beautiful red benarasi sari adorned with Swarovski crystals. My veil was handcrafted in India to have a Bengali quote on it which loosely translates to "I surrender my heart filled with love to you.”

My wedding gown was personally designed by my aunt Rajashree Basu of Krishna Fashion House. I wanted an Indo-Western fusion gown that honored my culture, while still meeting my childhood dreams of having "a white dress" on my special day. She went above and beyond in designing an elegant gown and veil which I will cherish forever.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Planning a wedding for 600 guests is a community effort. It was so fun having my mom, sister, and mashis (aunties) all play a huge role in planning for our wedding. They were instrumental in decorating for events, thinking through bridal party outfits, getting me ready the morning of the wedding, choreographing for our sangeet, and so much more. I could not be more grateful!

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
Our wedding was a non-stop party. Our guests never left the dance floor, loved the non-stop flow of food from Anmol Catering and Hilton Oak Brook Hills, were awed by the unique Bengali traditions, loved having their henna done and visiting our giveaway station of purses, bindis, and more.

Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
My father-daughter dance was a highlight for the evening! While we started off with a slow dance to "Dilbaro", we unexpectedly shifted to the high-energy "Malhari" song! Everyone was blown away by my dad's performance (coupled with fireworks that went off in the background)! Our sangeet performance line-up was also high-energy, with young kids, my friends, my cousins, Luke's friends, and my family all taking the time to learn and prepare such unique dances and songs. The youngest members of my extended family even re-enacted my and Luke's relationship through dance!

For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
Elite Party Decor went above and beyond for decorating for our events. I wanted our sangeet to be all-out colorful, complete with a multi-color dance floor, colored draping, bright food stations, and canopied henna stations. Our wedding ceremonies had a pastel pink and green theme to complement the beautiful indoor and outdoor ceremonies. Our vendor Chachi's Chai Cart even matched their cart to our theme!

Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
@hennadbyShereen was able to make a complex mehendi design for me that incorporated both the St. Louis and Chicago skylines (where we are both from). It was one of my favorite details about the wedding. Guests raved about the cake from DeEtta's Bakery.

This wedding was such a pleasure to see. I enjoyed every minute of it! See you tomorrow, ladies.

How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
In 2017, I crossed paths with Kunal at The Park, a now-closed bar in New York City. The memory of that place lingers because it was such an unforgettable moment for me. The evening began at a friend's housewarming, transitioning to the bar around 10pm. I was enjoying the night with my friends in the bottom level of the bar and when the night drew to a close, I started to make my way upstairs to catch my Uber. In the rush, I accidentally bumped shoulders with Kunal, who happened to be there with his friends. We exchanged apologies, recognizing a possible connection through a mutual friend. With my ride waiting, I attempted to leave, but as I prepared to leave, Kunal had asked me for my number. The next day, I waited for his text message, but never received one, leaving me disappointed. Later that evening, I logged onto my Facebook and messaged him saying it was nice to meet him. This is when we realized that I accidentally gave him the wrong number by one digit - which is why I never received his text message that he sent that same night! Shortly after our first date, I realized he was the one for me because of his family oriented, genuine, and caring personality.

Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
During April 2022, Kunal and I embarked on a weekend getaway to Puerto Rico, where he mentioned a networking event at a beachside restaurant with his coworkers on the night of our arrival. Given his affiliation with the Major League Baseball Players Association, I felt a little apprehensive about engaging in small talk about a sport I wasn't super familiar with. While in the Uber, the driver informed us of some traffic ahead, and that's when I saw Kunal becoming a bit restless. He received a phone call in the Uber and stated, "Is everything ready?" At that moment, a suspicion of a potential proposal crossed my mind. Trying not to raise my expectations, I subtly began to moisturize my hands, just in case. Upon reaching the beach area, as we strolled on the sand toward the "restaurant," I instinctively started to take off my shoes—because, obviously, who keeps their shoes on in the sand? Surprisingly, Kunal urged me to keep my shoes on and instructed me to "look up." To my surprise, a massive "MARRY ME" sign adorned the sand, accompanied by a picnic table set up for us to savor champagne and charcuterie. Despite my feeling in the Uber, I never imagined he could orchestrate such a memorable moment!

How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?

In February 2023, I traveled to India with my mom, fiance, and mother-in-law. We stayed at my masi's home in Mumbai and had 10 days to focus on wedding shopping. Having a clear idea of the color I wanted for my wedding outfit was extremely helpful. I had envisioned a beautiful off-white, beige shade, which narrowed down my choices significantly. During my second day of shopping, I tried on just one wedding lengha before discovering my perfect match - my Anushree Reddy dream lengha. The delicate, handcrafted embroidery and exquisite details were everything I had envisioned, making it the ideal choice for my special day.

What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
The most enjoyable aspect of the wedding process, for me, was the satisfaction of checking items off the to-do list. There's a unique joy in accomplishing each task and seamlessly moving on to the next. Aria Events played a pivotal role in expediting decision-making and bringing my vision to life. Additionally, my mom's immense support and help throughout the entire process was invaluable. I could not have done anything without her. The wedding weekend truly ran smoothly, and I am so grateful and happy with how things turned out. Now that the wedding planning process is behind me, there's a strange sense of nostalgia for it. The anticipation was truly one of the most exciting aspects—there's a mix of fear, happiness, and thrill that makes it unique. Imagining and picturing the day every day leading up to it created a feeling that you can never quite replicate or experience again.

What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
It is awesome to hear that many of our guests appreciated the seamless flow of the entire weekend. Juggling four events consecutively might sound overwhelming, but thanks to the exceptional day-of coordinators, everything ran smoothly. The food catering experience was a highlight for our guests, particularly at the sangeet and reception cocktail hour. Moghul went above and beyond to ensure the food remained hot, and the food stations stayed open until late at night, allowing people to grab a second or even third quick bite during the ongoing programs. Their commitment added an extra layer of enjoyment to the festivities - especially because food is life! Also, the MC and DJ excelled in keeping the energy high on the dance floor. Crowd surfing during the reception was an incredibly fun and memorable moment for me and Kunal. It was such a lively and enjoyable atmosphere for everyone that attended- I wish I could go back and re live it!
