You know you are in for a real treat when you come across a cinematic film where the bride herself planned her series of events. Maharani Sadaf is a certified event planner who knew from the moment her future hubby proposed that her wedding will flow to her penchant desires. Today’s cinematic journey takes us to the big country of Texas where 1947 Films Productions cut an elaborate wedding highlight celebrating three full days of wedding bliss. We can just tell from the lavish sangeet night at the Taj Hall, there was not a shortage of love or performances that filled the colorfully decorated room! For her makeup army, Sadaf brought on Eternal Glow to beautify her in makeup glory. This Maharani truly illuminated the room whenever she walked in, no doubt! The day after the sangeet guests joined the bride and groom for their nikkah ceremony and then it was time to boogie on down at the Lazeeza Sugarland Ballroom! Jam packed on the dance floor, Sadaf and Akbar’s family members cherished each moment and song playing on the loudspeakers with DJ Masti on the turntables. Indian weddings are full of cherubic moments and this film by 1947 Films Production was a pure visual delight in every sense of the word. We can’t help but also mention the hashtag for the wedding, a combination of the bride and groom’s last name which equals - #LakaliWeMet! Hit play to relish in all the exquisite details!
How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the one"?
Our story dates back to our childhood when I was just a year old. In years, that's almost 26 years ago! Our parents were very close friends and we often played together as children. When our families relocated to different cities out of Chicago, they had lost touch. 26 years later, Akbar and I met on our own. Little did we know that we've known each other all our lives! We had an instant connection when we first started talking in September 2014.
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
In March 2015, my sweet hubby proposed to me on the beach in Biloxi, Mississippi! It was a complete surprise that both families were in on! I had no idea that a small weekend getaway would lead to such a big day for me! He met me up in Biloxi from Houston, Texas and I made my way there from Atlanta, Georgia. After the beautiful and emotional proposal on the beach, I was taken to a romantic dinner for the two of us. Turns out that my siblings were also there in Biloxi at the same restaurant to surprise me!!! It was a plan all along and I was an emotional mess.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I have a lot of experience in event planning since I am a certified planner. I enjoyed each and every bit of my wedding planning! I'm very particular on detail and I love to have my own little touch to things. Most of the things that were displayed at my wedding were handmade or crafted by me. I was very pleased with my all the vendors that were a part of our wedding.
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
I had my bridal lengha customized to my taste and style. I knew that I wanted a contemporary, yet traditional feel to it. My husband really wanted red incorporated into our reception so we made that happen. Mostly because I chose everything else for other events ;) My nikkah saree was also customized to fit my style and the pink & white colors that I wanted. I was happy with the turnout for my wedding day, but not too happy with the designer. Therefore, I will not be mentioning them on here.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
I think the most enjoyable part was having everyone involved. I am very blessed with amazing family members and friends! They made the entire process so special! They did everything possible to make sure I got the dream wedding I've always wanted.
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
My guests loved the planning and organization that went into making this wedding a BLAST! I'm very big on entertainment and catering to guests. They felt a part of our wedding every step of the way and enjoyed it to the fullest. Oh and the food each and every day was to die for!
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
My first dance with my husband at our reception is an unforgettable moment for me! We were dancing and gazing into each other's eyes not even aware of who was around us. We were so extremely happy to finally be husband and wife! We had a long distance relationship and it was really hard to be away from each other for so long. That dream of being Mrs. Ali finally came true on January 16th, 2016!
For events other than your ceremony, please tell us as much as you would like about the decor, style, dances, and all the special details.
My husband and I had specifically chosen the styles and decor for each event to match with our outfits. We were extremely happy with the outcome. The dances for the mendhi, pithi, and reception were by our close family and friends. We had A LOT of performances each day!! My younger brother was in charge of every entertainment detail since he is a professional dancer and IT major.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Enjoy every moment ladies!!! The actual wedding goes by really fast so soak in the tiny moments up to your big day! You'll realize that your family and friends will go above and beyond to make sure your day is super special. Don't be a bridezilla, you'll regret it later!
Anything else you want to tell us? We'd love to hear all about your other details! (jewelry, mehndi, venue, cake, bouquets, etc.)
Our wedding was an extravagant wedding on a budget! I was one happy bride and I can't believe that it'll be a year already as a wife! There is a big difference when you put in your own time and love into planning your own wedding. I wouldn't have been able to do it without the support of my husband, our families, and our friends. Thank you for letting me showcase my wedding for future brides!
We hoped you enjoyed this larger than life celebration. See you tomorrow!
