Our wedding film today comes from the emerald state of Washington and was created by Aaron Horton Productions. The waterfront wedding locales at the Woodmark Hotel were a photographer's dream, and all stills were captured by Victor Zerga Photography. The natural surroundings were perfect for the couple's portraits, and the watercolor sky at sunset combined with the couple's vibrant ensembles and smiles made for some classic photographs. Maharani Vidya was decked out in mehndi by Eela, hair and makeup by Hanna Mazur, and her bridal fashions came all the way from India and London. Her traditional yet elegant ceremony sari was selected by her aunt in India, and her deep green and blue lehenga was a custom design from Charmi Creations in London. We thought her reception outfit was the perfect choice to match the vibrant blue water and sky that surrounded the festivities. Nalini's Flowers and Decor decorated the event elegantly, with gorgeous florals and draping that complemented the natural, chic surroundings perfectly, while Manette Gracie Events was in charge of the wedding planning and coordination. Adding to the fun was delicious food by Lakshmi, an enormous tiered cake by Decadence Custom Cakes, and incredible music by DJ Aanshul. It was many of Vidya & Kavi's guests' first time at an Indian wedding, and they were thrilled by the dancing, colors, and traditions swirling through the entire weekend. We're so happy to witness this lovely couple's wedding and please click play to watch more! Also, we talked to Maharani Vidya to get some inside scoop on the wedding celebrations, so you can read more from her below!
How did you meet your Groom and when did you know he was "the One?"
We had an interesting first date - a few jokes and stories. We saw promise and scheduled a second date. That's when we knew we had something special. The rest is history!
Share the scoop on your Proposal Story!
Kavi was sweet and traditional at the same time. I flew to Seattle to be with my family the day before Thanksgiving, and he joined us on Thanksgiving Day. He was talking to my Dad and asked his permission to marry me right in front of me! My whole family was so overjoyed to be part of such a special moment.
Tell us how you went about planning your wedding, and your overall experience with the Venues, Hair & Makeup, Outfits, Decor Theme, and all of the other important details.
I had a lot of help with planning! Once the venue and date were set, the rest fell right into place. We wanted an elegant but relaxed feel. We couldn't have asked for a better location - waterfront and gorgeous. We decided on royal blue and gold for our reception. Once I chose my reception lehnga, my Mom and Nalini, our florist, chose the perfect table arrangements to complement it, complete with elephant centerpieces!
How did you select your bridal lengha or wedding dress? Did you have a favorite color in mind?
My wedding sari was selected in India by my aunt. It was classic and clean. I didn't have time to travel to India to choose my lehnga. After extensively searching online, I decided to have a bespoke lehnga made by Charmi Creations in London. The process was streamlined and the fit was flawless.
What was the most enjoyable part of the planning process, and why?
Kavi and I had a great time working on the invitations. The excitement of our engagement was still fresh and we had a ball looking at different samples. We also had a fun time putting our favors together. I'm a coffee girl and he's a tea guy, so we chose to combine those two into a simple and fragrant favor!
What did your guests particularly love about your Wedding?
The location! We got so many positive comments. So many of our friends had never attended a Hindu wedding, so the combination of its beauty and the beautiful venue made for a wonderful event!
Was there a really special moment in your wedding that constantly replays in your mind?
There were so many special moments in our wedding! I think the most special moment was walking up to the Mandap and seeing my parents, family, and friends all around me and all smiles - it was an amazing feeling.
Do you have any words of wisdom for Brides-To-Be?
Enjoy the process! Details are fun and important, but they're not everything. Enjoying yourself, savoring the moment, and smiling is even more important.
So great to hear about Vidya's great experience! We'll see you all tomorrow!
